Even though I have white lines on my fingerprints, my SWAMI report lists spelt as a deep blue superfood ie it should have an anti-inflammatory effect (I have an auto-immune condition). I'm a bit wary of this. I am trying to incorporate as many superfood deep blues as I can every day and I would love to eat spelt, but I don't understand how a grain which contains gluten can have anything other than an inflammatory effect on someone who already has white lines. I'd be really grateful if anyone can explain - I hardly dare let myself fantasise about a slice of spelt bread. Thank you.

The damage on your gut lining that is reflected in your fingerprints ( gene linkage) may be more from lectin damage then gluten. SWAMi knows that by your blood type/secretor status and the other things you put in.
Trust the SWAMi, check the portions of the foods before you dive in. balance in all things.

Hi Andrea, thank you for that, fair point about gluten v lectin damage. In answer to your question, I wouldn't go overboard with spelt because I've grown to actually prefer brown rice pasta to wheat pasta and I've always preferred rice to pasta anyway. This is what I would eat: some wholemeal spelt bread; maybe occasionally pastry made with small amount of ghee and ground almonds (butter substitute); maybe some adapted cake/scone recipes using ghee/ground nuts again and Xylitol instead of sugar. I don't have a very sweet tooth so it would be mainly so that i can have a bready sandwich sometimes (or even toast and peanut butter). I do hope I haven't got false hopes here.

Sounds reasonable. Homemade stuff is always better. :)


Did you keep your fingerprints? It is a good idea to keep them and redo them in 6 months to a year to see any changes.

With spelt and inflammation, it is often a balance of the low gluten (bad) versus the high lignan (good). Other forms of wheat would have shown up as well, but they were probably knocked down for other reasons.

Another thing I do when in doubt, specially after changing values in Swami, is to make Swami re-produce the food lists for me, ensuring that I change to 'Compute best' all relevant fields (Genotype, Geno-harmonic foods, ...) allowing Swami produce the most up-to-date, what is best for me list.  And then, as Andrea said, if those food items are still there as SuperFoods, trust that they must have a function to benefit your system.

It is always good to ask and get these things clarify.  Well done.   :) :)

Thank you everyone for those replies, and Dr D, that's a very helpful detail, I hadn't really thought in terms of the "good" components outweighing the "bad".
