BTD Forums  /  Testimonials  /  Week one Swami-fied Explorer
Posted by: JPage, Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 8:11pm
So after just a week on my Swami-fied Explorer diet, I have noticed some pretty stark changes.

My weight is down from 119 to 114. Kind of a shock, as I don't eat to lose weight and didn't commit to the GTD for weight reasons.

My joints feel better already, even cruising into a time of year that makes them feel worse, especially in my hands. I've even intensified the cello practice and while I'm pacing myself and keeping a watchful eye, I do notice a difference for the better.

Anxiety is way up. This could be from some stuff going on at work right now, but I feel generally less able to cope with things. I also experience an anxiety that food-wise I'm not getting what I need, somehow - though I have the O supplements and am using them.

Energy is way down. Depression is deeper, which is worrisome.

My passion for food is almost completely gone, I have to remind myself to eat now. I even bought some lentil soup today -- normally, I cannot stand lentils. Now, I just don't seem to care. They're a diamond on my list? Sure, I'll eat some.

I further dread eating in front of others and the thought of pot lucks at work and the inevitable holiday meals loaded with stuff I don't eat any more is making me want to just beg off and stay home with my .. um. My lentils, I guess.

The feeling that I have joined a cult is also pervasive. I know many, many people who do not fit the stereotypes for their blood group, and I myself do not fit the mold for Explorer except, apparently, in finger/leg/torso measurements and nonsecretor status. I also don't have a lot in common with the nonnies on the board.

My husband has noted (quietly) that I don't seem happier for all that physically it seems to be an improvement. I'm certainly not making a convert, though he's an A+ that mostly eats A-diet stuff anyway.

I know I'm going to get some really good advice (thank you in advance) about staying positive and I do know I'm doing something ultimately very good for myself. I'm also aware that one week from BTD to Swami diet is not enough time to acclimatize or hit my groove. But I really didn't expect to feel this much worse before I felt better. I do fast a few times a year (10-15 days at a time) so I know what detox symptoms feel like -- I don't think this is physical detox.

I'm also very aware that this is a place where people predominantly post the positive experiences they're having -- so, I almost didn't post this at all. I don't usually ask for help, but if there's someone out there with experience similar to mine, I'd love an off-forum GTD buddy just for the occasional reality/sanity check.

I don't know. I have this impulse to re-measure everything and get a better read on my fingerprints, maybe I got something wrong? Except I don't think I did, and now can't edit the data in Swami anyway. Or maybe I just need to give it more time.

Thoughts?

I will deal with the simple issue first.

If you remeasure and want to change values in SWAMI that is  not a problem.  Many of the fields are not time locked and you can change those as many times as you want.

Finger prints are time locked, but if you need to correct them simply contact NAP support to have them reset the values for you.

To reset the field contact NAP at 1.203.761.0042

Online support is available some of the time.

(I think -- Monday-Friday, 9:AM-5:00 PM EST)

Simply click on the Support tab in SWAMI.

I noticed improvements on SWAMI right away. But I had difficulty with GTD initially because I did not have all the measurements right.

It helps to have someone else assist with the measurements. I tried to do them all myself.

jpage,
As to the cult aspect...don't worry about the
''personality" descriptions....they are very loose and general...(as a gatherer I am an artist...shouldn't I be a "B"? And very interested in philosophy and spirtuality, hmm, isn't
that a teacher trait...or whatever...I just don't worry about it and Dr. D even says that is the last thing to consider...in typing)
good luck with your swami! I'm rootin' for you! ;D

I don't take the Explorer supps, no -- two of them contain caffeine, which I swore off a long time ago.

I haven't changed my exercise routine from a week or even a month ago. Which is to say, I haven't  been exercising at all. I do know better and know I need to make the lifestyle change, but I'm trying to account for the abrupt downturns over the last week.

I have not done the liver cleanse specifically -- I am a proponent of the Master Cleanse. Why cleanse just one organ at a time? :)

Cold showers are a problem for me, I'm perpetually at a low temp anyway (around 95). Body brushing makes me itch for the rest of the day. I'll give them both a try anyway, though they sound unpleasant.

As for telling someone that they are depressed because they have decided to be depressed -- as a chronic melancholic himself I'm surprised President Lincoln would think that even remotely useful advice. But I know you meant well and sincerely thank you for replying.

Anyone know how much caffeine is actually in these supplements?  My uninformed guess is that they contain less caffeine than a cup of decaffeinated tea.

I certainly do not notice any effect of caffeine in them when I took them.

If you would like to take them you might want to contact NAP and ask how much caffeine they actually contain.

Thank you for all the good advice, C# and Lola and jayneeo! I'll look into Swami things and get a handle on the supplements and all the rest. I guess if I'm gonna do this by the book I should do it by the book, right?

This is me pasting a smile back on, no one likes a downer. Off to find some happy castor oil.

The liver cleanse is to target an area that Explorers have difficulty with. It is gentle and can be done with the frequency needed.

JPage - it is the flu season and maybe you are fighting a virus of some kind?

All the SWAMI diets and genotype diets are going to be healthy diets, nothing cultish about that.

It is alot of work (and stress) to change your diet, so once you settle into it, things should get better.  Hope you feel better soon.
