I checked the book and my personal print out on swami and the answer wasn't there so I am asking here. Under veggie protiens it gives serving size for nuts and seeds, then for nut butters, but it does not give servings sizes for the beans. Just a note my personal swami sizes are smaller than the book serving sizes. So how many beans can I eat?

I figured a 1/2 cup because the same kind of bean is someplace else and that portion is 1 cup,  we'll see.  Someone who knows for sure will post, but I've been using the 1/2 cup portion.

Serving sizes in SWAMI will depend on your weight, settings that you choose about portion sizes and frequency, and other factors.

I think you should scale the beans in the same proportion as was done for nut and seeds. So if your SWAMI portions for nuts is 60% of the book's, figure your bean portions sizes to be 60% of the book's.

The problem is there is no portion size for beans - it list portion sizes for nuts and seeds and portion sizes for nut butters. I would love to downsize by the same amount - but I have no staring point.

Yes, I am confused about the bean issue also. I can have vegetable proteins 9X a week with specific amounts for nuts & seeds and nut butters, with no portion amount for beans.

I personally eat peanuts and or peanut butter daily. I've been assuming that is my choice over having beans. Am I wrong?? Or am I allowed to have beans and the nuts?

This has been debated before on the forums.

Lloyd uses 1/2 cup dry.
Lola uses uses 1 cup cooked.

To me those are the same, it is just when you prefer to measure.

Their values are for the book.

So if your SWAMI nut value is a 1/3 of cup instead of the 1/2 cup of the book:  Use 1/3 cup dry beans or 2/3 cup cooked beans.

You are allowed to have both beans and nuts!  Add up all your servings of nuts, seeds, nut butters, nutritional yeast, and beans to get your 9 total servings per week.

I know to add them all up. It's just that I don't usually end up eating beans as I prefer to eat peanuts or peanut butter daily. The squirrels fight with me over my peanuts..hehe. They do eat more than me though!  :o
