BTD Forums  /  SWAMI Xpress  /  Can I change from Gatherer with SwamiExpress?

Hello,

I'm considering buying the SwamiExpress now that it is available in England. I have a question though, that I haven't been able to find the answer to in other threads: I am O pos secretor, which means I can use the advanced calculator in the book. My torso, leg measurements and finger lengths make me a gatherer. My question then, is, can the SwamiExpress turn me into another Genotype or will I remain a Gatherer?

Thanks!   :)

With SWAMI Xpress, you can either select a particular GenoType or let it calculate a GenoType.

I recommend that people allow the program to calculate their GenoType, unless they have a particular reason to set it.

Most often the GenoType calculated by SWAMI will match that which you calculate by hand using the advanced calculator table, but not always.

The short answer is that yes, the SWAMI might place you in a different GenoType if there are enough indications. It doesn't appear to be all that common so far.

Thanks guys, for your replies, that's great.

So, when I add various health factors, even if I don't change genotype, a diet will be created based on what I have told it? For example, might some of the gatherer diamonds become, say, neutral, and might some of the gatherer black dots become, say, beneficial? Or do my food choices get more restricted than the gatherer diet in the book?

I have found that my food choices are more expansive than with just the GTD book.  I started out as a gatherer with my own measurements, then tried hunter, but the swami said I am an explorer.  I think I may be one of the exceptions there.  But I think my food choices reflect all of the above types.  The things that are avoids I sort of already knew didn't agree with me.  I kept some of my favorite foods from each list.  It's been fun!  I just have been working on better compliance with my food choices, so that I can see more results!  Best wishes with you Swami! ;D

Yes, although it may be that your food choices will be less restrictive.  8)

That just happened to me & it looks like I have more choices, except 3 spoonfuls of oil a week is toooo skimpy. The meat portions are less than I have. Some fave veggies moved from dots to neutrals which will make things easier! A few carbs moved to neutral, too. Thanks!
Hey, I'm left-handed, don't tolerate caffeine, am a taster+, etc. I still have almost borderline Gatherer measurements, so I'm a gatherer with explorer SWAMI characteristics, I guess.  Really, I'm an individual human with a wacky SWAMI reading.
BTDing is such fun!

Well it's reassuring to know that food choices may become less restrictive, even if I remain a gatherer. (I kinda hope that I might come out as a hunter, except that I really appreciate being allowed black tea on the gatherer programme!)

Mrs T O+ - do you mean that you come out as an explorer with Swami? If that's so, why don't you consider yourself an explorer rather than a gatherer? I don't fancy the sound of your 3 spoons of oil a week though - tough!

I wanted to reply to the concern raised by pamprice, but did not want to further clutter the bugreport thread.

"You have chosen G2 Gatherer as your Genotype,  overiding the computed GenoType (GT4 Explorer)"  My measurements definitely put me in the Gatherer category, so I don't understand this.

See note in the alerts section:

If you allow SWAMI to calculate your GenoType it will use a more sophisticated algorithm than the book uses to determine your GenoType. On the SWAMI data intake screen you chose to specify your GenoType overriding the GenoType calculated by the program (Explorer).

I found my swami to offer me more veggies that I like (broccoli), but less fruit, more cheeses, which is a huge lifestyle boost....! and lots of fishes that I ...well, let's just say I don't care for fish. I enjoy a nice pc. of halibut now and then, but that is it.
