I was just nosing around in the Hunter swami thread and thought it would be great to talk to teachers about their swamis.
There are quite a few changes in mine from the GT3 diet. Most of them are for the better, in that I gain many more foods as superfoods or neutrals than I lose. I am thrilled to have WAY more fruits and veggies. My swami makes my diet much more flexible which is great. Less superfood cheeses, but the ones I like best are still super or at least black dots. And I gained feta as as super which is nice.
Red wine is once again a superfood! and white is now a dot so I can have it now and again.
Lots of changes to learn!
Portion sizes...pretty HUGE! I asked it to calculate the best. Are everyone's big?
So much fun to have something new to play with, and some new foods to eat! ;D
Hi and thanks for starting this thread. For me, all of the Teacher SWAMI will
be as new as the Teacher diet itself. I followed the Warrior diet in error for 18
months.
I like that sardines returned to my life...a diamond food. Always easy to open
a can for lunch...and plop on a large salad And sea trout.....which I like.
And after buying eggs and throwing out many yolks in order to eat many egg whites as a diamond food on the Warrior diet, I now find it's the yolks that are the diamond food on the Teacher's diet and the whites aren't...The whole egg is a superfood but the yolks are the best part of the egg for me....Honestly I always
felt that if I were to eat eggs, I'd rather eat the yolks rather than the whites...
Hard boiled egg yolks....what great egg salad this must make!!! :):):)
And now for the cheeses. SWAMI stole a lot of them away from me compared
to the book but i remember doing something a bazillion years ago with
parmesan cheese, where you sprinkle some in a frying pan and just cook it..
It gets all melty as it browns slightly and then when you take it out of the
pan, it dries and hardens and gets like a cracker you
can break into pieces....I can't wait to try that....And I do love feta cheese..
Do not know what manchego cheese tastes like....but muenster is awesome...
and that makes me really happy....
My favorite beans are diamonds, so that's really exciting...black beans (as in
soup), pinto beans as in refried beans...and this sounds really odd but lima
bean flour is a black dot food for me and lima beans are a toxin...Last thing
I'm worrying about now...I care more about the diamond options. The nut
choices are great, walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pine nuts...the ones I most often
eat anyway. And carob is a diamond. I bought some but have no clue what to
do with it....Maybe mix it with some peanut butter and honey...roll it into a ball
or something..use it as a snack
My grain portions aren't large....1 slice of bread or 1/2 muffin...3 servings a day...
and grains and cereal portions are 1/4 cup per serving. This is perfectly fine with me... I am not and have never been someone who does great on grains...and I'm
gluten intolerant anyway.
I tend to use beans as a starch. Like a meal might be turkey, some veggies and maybe a lentil salad on top of some leafy greens.
My vegetable list is enormous...and some day, I'll get popcorn back as a black
dot. That's certainly exciting..but my favorite horseradish is a diamond and
I was really excited to see that the very foods I crave constantly are diamonds.
And squash is one of my superfoods. I am queen of squash. Winter squash
I adore....I could eat it non stop in wintertime.. There are hardly any toxin
vegetables that I'd remotely even miss. Only thing I think I'd ever cheat by
eating a toxin would be a sweet potato...and reserved for Thanksgiving only.
Lots of mushrooms on my superfood list....I love mushrooms so that's great
news.
And broccoli is back as a diamond. I lost it for 18 months on the Warrior diet...
I plan on incorporating a lot of veggies and making my own fermented vegetables..
kim chee.
I'm excited about blueberries being a diamond. Lost those for 18 months too...
But here's the most exciting food of all on any list....dates....OMG..I nearly
jumped out of my chair screaming over dates...a simple date....a sweet caramel-y
tasting date...I thought I'd died and gone to heaven seeing a date with a diamond
next to it. And a pear is back on my superfood list...plus watermelon....I love
fruit....so the very best of my favorites are fruits I can eat...three per day...
I can handle that easily.
Chocolate is interesting for me. Gave me a headache on the Warrior diet where
it was emphasized.....It's a black dot now...and I can totally live without it...It's not the happy food for me that it is for so many others.
The juices/beverages list...6-8 oz. and 3 servings per day...Might be a little beyond my tolerance if I were doing that quantity as a fruit juice.....Maybe if I were juicing veggies...but I could not see myself ever drinking 24 oz per day of something like pineapple juice...I tend to water down juices so they're not so strong. And some of these beverages are teas...So caloric wise...celery juice is a whole different sugar jolt than straight pineapple juice. Have to find some balance in this category.
Red wine is a superfood...Rather take resveratrol....Red wine gives me a major
headache..sulfites...I've bought organic wine....don't tolerate many of them...Don't
like the way I feel after drinking wine....I can't sleep.
Nutritional yeast....I love it...and at least I still have umeboshi plum vinegar..
I never used artificial sweeteners...and haven't had any sugar in a few years...
Baking and cooking won't change all that much....condiments are easy to work
with from my list.
I could discuss the geno harmonic foods for a week...because this is where I'm
going to have the most trouble. Much of my list contains wheat, gluten or puffed
wheat and I can't eat gluten.....and mackerel (Spanish, I presume) which isn't something I've ever seen anywhere...never heard of mullet or muskellunge and
herring I don't know where to find either...I suppose we don't have to combine every food on each list with one another...Just a few with the major players...
Overall, I like the variety of the Teacher Diet and look forward to see how others
are liking the changes. Although for me, I'M not coming from a Teacher Diet to
a Teacher SWAMI. I'm coming from the Warrior diet to a Teacher SWAMI.
SWAMI told me I'm a 45% Teacher...
