Hello, I have read this information about non-secretor genes:

http://www.ifr26.nantes.inserm.fr/biblio/voir.php?e=publication&id=5835
http://www.springerlink.com/content/wg98wu86515q40k5/

My question is if there is any difference between the mutations on the different FUT2 genes 385 A→T, 428G-->A, 571C-->T, 739G-->A and 839T-->C and being considered a non-secretor.

I mean if one is being DNA tested and come out as non-secretor does it mean the same regardless of which genes who are mutated and responsible for being se/se, se2/se2 or se2/se3?

why would you be doing such an expensive test?
figure out your GT through Dr D s GTD book easy to follow measurements! ;)

have you had good results so far following the A1 non secretor diet guidelines??

Well I might do a DNA test just because the DNA test will reveal a lot of other interesting things regarding to health as well and other exciting stuff about ancestery/heritage for instance. I will probably do a saliva test also and if I do both I suppose I will no longer doubt my secretor status. :)

I saw from another reply I had from Vicky (about a question I had about if there was any statistics about how many Le(a-b-) blood tested people who was saliva tested as non-secretors) that most Le(a-b-) was non-secretors. I wondered because of what I have read that one can be both secretor or non-secretor if being Le(a-b-) blood tested.

Even if You've adviced me to follow non-secretor diet, I wan't to know my secretor status for sure for other reasons. One thing is that if one is a non-secretor (saliva tested or DNA-tested) one have immunity to the most common strings of noroviruses.

I haven't had the strenght yet to start and I am still trying to figure out what genotype I might be. I think for myself that I would fit in to being an Explorer type but I am not sure.

I need to mentally get into this more cause it is hard to break habits right away. :B
