I am new to the concept of the blood type diet personally, but I have family members who have been very successful in following the diet. I want to buy one of the books to educate myself more in-depth, but I have been reading reviews and am unsure which to buy.

For example, some people say that there is conflicting information on foods allowed for the various types in the ER4YT and LR4YT and the Encyclopedia (if I remember correctly). Any idea why?

Second, I want to read the most info on the secretor/non-secretor info, and I know that LR4YT and the Encyclopedia cover it. Does the Encylopedia cover just as much as LR4YT when it comes to the more advanced or subtype info?  I only want to buy both books if necessary. Otherwise, I'll just plan on buying the Encyclopedia.

I would say to buy LR4YT because you can get the basic health protocols for illnesses on this website.

^^^OK, thank you for that recommendation! I didn't quite realize that. Is everything from the Encyclopedia on this web site though?

Also, anyone have any input on the supposed inconsistencies regarding certain foods for blood types in the books?

The LR4YT book is designed to be read straight through and explains all the concepts systematically. It is organized like a regular book.

The encyclopedia is an organized like an encyclopedia. You look up a specific diseases for an article on how to treat that disease. I suppose  most of the information from the Encyclopedia is on this site, but it is a lot easier to find the information in the Encyclopedia. In my mind it is very well worth spending $24 to get the information organized in a way that you can find it and understand it.

My favorite is LR4YT because of all the technical knowledge.  The food lists are extensive, too.  I have the encyclopedia but never use it.

I prefer the LRFYT myself. It seems to make the most sense to me or perhaps that it is easier to understand while still giving about all the info you need.

why don t you lend them out from your library, study each in the quiet of your home and decide which to buy to serve your purpose.....

I consider them both to be important parts of my D'Adamo library.  

(But then, I have all his books! )   :B

But those two are the most important books to have as the core of the program, in my opinion.  Then, if you want to move on to the Genotype program, or more specific Health Library series, you can do that later on.

I have read ER4YT, CR4YT, LR4YT and the Geno Type Diet.  I also have his encyclopedia that I haven't had a chance to get to yet.  All of his books are very good.  My favorite book that he has written would have to be LR4YT Live Right 4 Your Type.  I have gotten the most out of this book by far.

The Geno Type Diet is a good book, but I don't feel I have adapted as well on the GTD as I did on the BTD.  I don't know why, I may have missed on my measurements and be on the wrong plan.  I am just not sure.

I got my books on and they were very reasonable, with free shipping. ;)

I have all the books.   I just leant out my LRFYT book to someone who was interested in learning about the BTD.   It goes into some of the science behind the diet.   I think it is a good place to start learning.  Then you can graduate to the GTD.

Welcome, yetwave!

Great comments thus far, including the link to the errata page.  There are a few typos (not Type O's, but typos  ;D ) in LR4YT, but they are covered in the errata page on this site that you've been linked to.  The biggie has to do with recommended portions of fruits, as I recall the book erroneously says "per week" when it means "per day"--big difference!!!  So when I recommend LR4YT, which is a must-have, I always, always, ALWAYS tell people to read that errata page because, to me, it makes a big difference in success and sustainability of the diet if you know you are not only allowed but encouraged to eat more fruit than what the book erroneously states--yay!  That said, LR4YT is great in terms of familiarizing yourself with secretor status and its importance, imho.

Now, maybe I'm a dinosaur, but I still say and recommend that people interested in the Blood Type Diet start with ER4YT.  Why?  Because the theory and foundation of the diet concept it is SO clearly and elegantly written and explained, that it really sets the stage for your entire BTD journey (and, hopefully, it will be a lifelong one, so it is worth investing in the classic book, imho).  I would definitely recommend reading ER4YT first, then LR4YT.  Don't worry about the few changes in food status, because when in doubt, you can always check here on the site, on the Typebase, as that is the definitive, most up-to-date resource on the status of various foods, and it includes secretor and non-secretor ratings.  If you don't know your secretor status, you would typically follow the secretor listing until you do know.  This is because most folks are secretors.  Only about 15% of the population are nonnies like moi.  That said, we are over-represented on this site/in this cybercommunity, because nonnies tend to have health tales of woe that lead them to the diet in droves in the first place...but not to worry, because the BTD restores us to glowing health, so it is all good.

ANYWAY, I'd go ahead and get ER4YT and LR4YT.  As was pointed out, they are very affordable on Amazon.  And use the Typebase on this site as your definitive food listing, although you can't go wrong with either ER4YT or LR4YT, as the changes are actually minimal.  It seems complex and liike there is a lot to take in, but really you can't go wrong with ER4YT or--as long as you are briefed on the errata--with LR4YT.  Both ROCK, LR just further refines things with the non-secretor refinements, which are significant if you are a nonnie.  But if you are a secretor, the few changes from ER to LR in food status are no biggie and, again, you have Typebase to refer to when in doubt.

Peppilein you are such a hoot... yep only can agree with your suggs... take it easy ...go one by one...and ok....btw..lr4yt will stay as the most brilliant outcomes of our guruji ;)... here he showed a little bit of his N-sides ;)u.s.  ;D...yadda...and if there's something you can't agree...just go for veryfications and adaptations... tsk..tsk..

by getting tested (bloodwise or others....who cares... ......but get tested...! ) will show that the recommendations of Dr.P.D'A. still is
reflecting you as personal being.... :D ;D

I tell people to read Eat Right For Your Type first. It's the simplest system and you only have to know your ABO type. It explains lectins and other stuff, which the other books almost assume the reader is already familiar with.

Yeah, I can read that.. but I don't want to confuse myself. May be I will read it once I am healthier with GTD  :) Currently my focus is on GTD only..

1.   :D  Yay, as I said earlier in the thread, I always recommend ER4YT as the starting place for anyone interested in the BTD, and now come to find out that is how Dr. D rolls, too, recommendation-wise:  so glad to know I am recommending things in the order that Grand Master D Flash approves of!  Wu HUUUUUU!  (What?  Yes, I ran out of very-low-in-caffeine kukicha tea today and am resorting to insanely-infused-with-caffeine jasmine green instead today, how could you tell?  It is all Victoria's fault!  Victoria:  your tea ROCKS!)

2.  kawaikx15, I think it is perfect that you read ER4YT first and then went on to the GTD, no worries, mate.  That said, at some point, do read LR4YT because the information on secretor/non-secretor status is very, very interesting and informative.  That is especially true if you turn out to be in the minority, i.e., a non-secretor, as it does impact things, BTD-wise.  One beautiful thing about following the GTD is that you don't have to necessarily know your secretor status, but it does help to increase your understanding of you ("self") in relation to not only food but anything that is "other" (not self), in other words, your understanding of you in relation to the environment and how the latter impacts the former.

Whoa...that tea is impacting my writing ability, as I'm not sure the last sentence made any sense...again, Victoria's fault, all of it!

just got my hands on this wonderful book LR4YT.. wow, it is rich of information and gives lot better understanding.. I am working on, reducing my cortisol now !!!!  :D
