Just before Christmas my Osteopath (also a Naturapath) advised me to go on the Atkins diet for 2 weeks and then switch to the BTD.  So in January I started the Atkins, I was pretty good on it but after 8 days I got pretty sick of my limited food choices and so decided to switch onto the BTD.  However even after 8 days I realised that my 'need' for carbs had massively reduced and I was no longer gobbling food down so fast!

I have now been following the BTD for also about 8 days.  So far I have noticed that I no longer have heartburn and  I have more energy and generally feel better in myself.  The most notable change that I appreciate the most has got to be the diminished desire to scoff food and more importantly I no longer feel the need to eat copious amounts of chocolate and cakes and biscuits! I am much more likely to reach for fruit for my snacks and am not really missing most of the avoid foods as much as I thought I would.

I have also lost 2 inches from my hips and 2 inches from my waist!  

I am probably about 15kg (approx 33lb) overweight, I have lost a couple of pounds during this period.  I am wondering roughly how long am I looking at before I reach goal weight?

I am finding it quite hard to cut corn/maize out fo my diet as it seems to be put into quite alot of 'wheatfree' products.  I guess I'll just have to cut those out too.

All in all I feel this is working for me.   :)

Yes I suppose.  Just trying to make life easy! ;)

I did buy some ezekiel bread mix and make that at home and it was lovely, much nicer than basic wheat free bread bought from the shop. Although DD didn't like it as it "has bits in"! Just been going through the Cook right book for recipes.

I forgot to mention that my skin has improved enormously just in these two weeks! I have been suffering with bad pimples for about 18 months which I thought was hormone related but now as they have 95% gone in these two weeks I would say it was diet related!

Well I thought I would come on here with an update.  I have now been following the diet for about 13 months and it has been going really well.  In fact I would say it is fairly easy to follow once I got over all the intial hurdles!  I would say I have been about 85% compliant which for me has been good enough to see results and also do-able!

I've lost 10kg (22lbs) since beginning the diet.  I've lost lots of inches too I've dropped a dress size, well almost two actually!  Interstingly during the first six months I didn't lose much weight just a kilo or two, instead I lost inches.  Then in the last six months the weight has steadily started to drop off and more inches too!

My head feels clearer, I now know what causes my spots and pimples and am able to control them mostly through diet, although environment does play a part too!  My back problems are mostly a thing of the past, any twinges are easily solved with an exercise given to me to do by my Osteopath.  I am loving my emerging figure, jawline, cheek bones (who knew they were there!!!),  Getting good results in the gym and am actually enjoying going now! Have bought a bike and am loving early morning bike rides.  I recently had a fitness assessment at my gym and it was so apparent how far I had come especially in my attitude.  I have a confidence that I have never had before that I will get to my goals, but also I am not in some mega rush to get there, because I know it will happen and I don't need it to be like yesterday, I just need it to happen and be be consistent which it is!

Great results so far - keep up the good work.

I find that following my food lists (Hunter) AND reducing carbs way back (grains, starchy vegs, fruits) sometimes is beneficial for me to cut the cravings.

Congrats!  It is amazing how people will treat you, once your self-confidence is boosted by weight-loss!

That is too spooky Lola I just enquired about getting the secretor home test kit sent to me in Aus! Thought I could do with a bit of fine tuning!  What is a secretor avatar anyway?
