Dear Friends,

After being sick for almost a month with a sinus infection/ear pain/ sore throat. I was diagnosed with silent GERD. I am not surprised with us A's and our low stomach acid. But I cannot lie to ya'll, I have fallen off the BTD/GTD wagon. I have been(sheepishly) medicating my post miscarriage depression with food (ah the taco bell, pizza, halloween candy, and chipotle medication....)

But, it has caught up with me. The ENT doc I saw today said that the silent GERD has inflammed my ear, nose, and throat.

Any body else have this? Any foods that help this other than just plain complaince?

Green tea to help turn pre-cancerous cells back to normal cells.

Also, have you read about the ginger juice remedy?

Compliance will be your best friend in many ways...{{{{{{{Bethy}}}}}}

How much ghee do you eat?

Viki,

What is the ginger juice cure?

Ribbit,

I don't really eat ghee...only in Indian food from take out or such...

Might help.  In combination with the Warrior diet, I believe ghee is what healed me so that I could, for the first time in many years, tolerate wheat and dairy again.  I am no longer allergic to them.

I have had this for 8 weeks, on and off...It started out as a virus...and my brother in law
in Georgia had this exact same thing about 3 months ago.  I heard about his symptoms
and really thought he had h pylori because he's type O....but being type A, when I started
feeling nauseated for weeks (believing it was allergenic foods I was eating), it slowly
morphed into a cough...and then a cold...and it wound up in my sinuses but the GERD persisted. I was adjusted by a chiropractor and for a few days it went away....came back...  I've spoken to my brother in law, whose symptoms abated when he took the Gastro D and type O probiotic but it comes back when he stops.

Either we both have h pylori or we got a strange virus that is hanging on.   For weeks I
felt tired...and suddenly, now I feel really good....the GERD is milder but still there some
days.  I still take the Gastro D...and the A Polyflora...

Then, my friend and neighbor called me and said "I think I have an ulcer...I have this
chronic indigestion that feels like GERD".  Her husband is a doctor but a urologist...He told
her to see a gastroenterologist....She's type O...He wouldn't do the H pylori test until he
gave her a few weeks of Zantac..(those dumb doctors)..

So, weeks go by and my friend and I are still talking about our indigestion problems..
only she now has a sinus infection that has gone into her ears.

And then my sister calls me and tells me "I've got that same GERD".  She's type A....
and think she's got a sinus infection..

It all seems too weird.  Then a lady in my art class is complaining of GERD (type A who
has never had digestive problems like this)...and says she thinks she's getting either an ear infection or sinus infection..

So, I've been taking the Gastro D and the A type probiotic and my symptoms get milder...but every few days, it comes back if I eat the wrong food. Last night I tried a piece of dark
chocolate.  Symptoms came back.

Before you assume you've got a condition, consider this to have been a bug...that began
somehow in your gut and has traveled deeper into your body.

Try a clean diet....so you can detox...

I've tried the ghee, but digesting fats when you have indigestion isn't always easy....I tolerate
about a teaspoon at a time.

Another thing that really helped me a lot is Manuka honey....supposed to be able to kill
h pylori, but in my heart of hearts, I don't think that's what I've got. I honestly think this
was a really slow moving virus..and it takes a really long time to finally work its way out
of the body.

I keep drinking tea with ginger, but sometimes the ginger feels too strong and uncomfortable..You have to play with it and see which food are soothing and which
make you feel worse.....  Peppermint tea makes me worse...and xylitol made me incredibly
worse.  Coffee is too acidic, and chocolate brings back the symptoms...Green tea is great.
I'm drinking it  all day long.

I realized I had to stay alkalized...For some reason, this bug persists when I'm too acidic.
I don't know what to call it, I'm not saying you've got what I've got....but it came on suddenly
and is dragging on for a long while...I'm a lot better than I was 8 weeks ago, and I seem
to remember having a bug just like this about 30 years ago....I saw a gastro guy then who told
me I had gastritis...a catch-all term for "I don't know what's really wrong with you".

Get some manuka honey.  It was my very best immediate solution...

Hi Bethysue, I use often my favourite digestive aid, thinly sliced fresh ginger in honey, so that it let its juice melt in the honey. The mix  of ginger juice and honey is wonderful for my digestion and as antirefluxor everyone. I really love it and would use it nearly always as my stomac is lazy and slow. I must also be careful not to drink water with meals, but tea or grapefruit juice if I am thirsty, as my reflux is immediate watering my stomac juices. Common avoids for reflux are chocolate and mint.
Hope it helps !

Did your ENT recommend having an endoscopy to check your esophagus for damage from the acid?  It would be a good idea to do this.

Chloe, I had that same stomach virus and only in the last month or so has my stomach felt back to normal.  I was nauseated every single day, but not sick.  Frustrating.

I get it since I've gotten older. Not half as bad as pre GTD. My digestion is been very good as long as I stay at least 80% compliant. When I start cheating, my stomach lets me know. Yesterday I had acid reflux a little blah...For me, mint works and ginger works really well, plus corriander, turmeric, apples fennel seeds, pineapple and papaya. Black tea and green tea help..the tea in Chinese restaurants is great for that..And don't forget Deflect, and magnolia.
