I'm an Explorer but after almost 4 months on the diet went back to the BTD. GTD worked well, I just felt like I didn't have enough choices and was eating the same limited range of foods everyday.
I'm happier with the A-nonnie diet. Weight loss is a little slower but I'm not as bored with my food  :)

Nope, when I first answered this poll I incorrectly typed myself.  I'm a Teacher, thanks to my

I just ran my SWAMI with A2 to see what would happen and there weren't any changes! I think it's because I already have ended up with a "meatier" diet because I have checked off a history of thyroid problems. I have a feeling I'm at my "best" diet through SWAMIXpress.

Does knowing the MN grouping alter the diet much?
Posted by: Lola, Monday, May 31, 2010, 4:18pm; Reply: 29
can you check off a box for the MN result?
if not, then I wouldn t bother

if yes, try running all three options and see if and how your diet changes

MN, MM, NN.......each have their own characteristics

Are the A2's generally more northern Euro/ Scandinavian whereas the A1's would tend to be more southern Euro/ Mediterranean? I still plan to serotype before I get SWAMI but was just curious and thought you might have an idea. :)

I think my only hope now is to fly out to CT and see Dr. D personally if I'm ever going to get the serotyping panel done.  Three days?  Really?  He will see me for that long a period of time?  His site is very short on details.  I can imagine the cost of flight, hotel, medical costs, etc. will be prohibitive.  I'm thinking around 4-5K easily.  Got 3 kids in college on not so great of incomes.

Can we start a "Send Adam to Dr. D" fund, please?  ;D

I understand the desire to get it all done now, but many of us have to make progress as we can...  Make decisions now so you can make it happen in a couple of years...

On whatever SWAMI diet, you will be far better than if you were still eating the SAD, and probably healing tremendously.  Count your blessings that you have been able to do this much and allow it to work.

The 3 day visit was, most likely, for professional consultation / training.

Why not combine your visit with the conference? You would get the benefit of hearing Dr. D'Adamo speak and getting certified. Yes you have the conference expense but it is all part of the package. I think your numbers are a bit high on the cost of the visit. If I can get my DH to finish the basement ::) :) I would always open my home to visitors. I do live about 1 hour from the office in NY.

You make your appointment at the same time as the conference occurs in May.

Cocky and Dr. D are friends, she must have visited his clinic as a practitioner as well as had a personal visit with him.. right Cocky?

People come from all over the world to see him, they spend the money on what is important to them.

Don't make an appointment then until I see if I can get mine.  ;)

Adam, you might try the U of B shift if you are interested in saving some money. The 3 days would be for travel. Get there the day before for a cushion, stay the night after just to avoid travel stress. 2 nights at a hotel, plane ticket, transportation to/from airport, and I think U of B was around $200 (call and ask-- also they book up quickly). I would think you could get the whole thing done for under $1000 (depending on what you like to eat-- ha.).

If Andrea gets her basement done, much less.  ;)
She could rent a room and her cooking would be worth it alone, not to mention the great company. ;D

go by the strength test in the back of your book, if you haven t got a swami to compute your GT for you

try finding out more about yourself, like secretor status, subtype and MN.....
to target your specific GT

SWAMI made me a Teacher but it all depends on having input the correct measurements. I already have secretor status and will get other subtyping etc done in a couple of months. I am seeing a practitioner on Monday to check all my measurements so that will help to confirm things for me.

I know mine (A1). It has been useful in my family, as my sister being A2 and enjoying red meat more than I would countenance, I do not feel so bad about her, knowing that a bit of meat seems to be ok for A2. But as others keep saying, do the swami, enter all the info. and bingo, there is your advice.

Yes Andrea, Dr. D. and I are friends  :) I visited his clinic back then in Stamford in september 2001. Already 10 years ago... :o :o
I arrived on the night of 10th September at JFK. The day after the TwinTowers tragedy took place. It was a memorable visit. I will never ever forget it. I stayed for 3 weeks with dear BTDfriends. And yes, I wanted to learn more about the BTD. Then we had no GTD yet..  ;) Now I know some characteristics of Peter's reaction to a client that I can relate to Warriors traits..;) ;D
It was fun and I learnt a lot! And Dr. D. is a funny guy and a sweet doc to his patients!!

Since then I have had with intervals clients from Belgium and Germany who saw my name on the IFHI site and visited me for a consultation.

I'm so in the zone on my SWAMI Teacher diet right now it is so amazingly great.  Started the day with Mr. Itaru's Green Tea, Catalyst, and Methyl B12.  Then a 40 minute workout at the gym, driving through pouring rain to get there.  Post-workout shake of Soymilk, Protein Blend Powder A, Peanut Butter, Harmonia Deluxe, Deflect, Activator, Trehalose, Blueberries, and Pineapple.  Sipped that slowly and took a Flax Oil with some water.

Now sitting here at work feeling so relaxed and healthy.  Folks, all it takes is a little effort and a "want to" attitude.

I haven't done SWAMI yet but measurements make me a teacher. Being a nonie though I do have many of the intolerances of the explorer, supplements, OTC and prescriptions. Mold foods ie peanuts and melons cause me trouble. Dairy also is a problem. Don't know but SWAMI may make out to be an explorer. Also am an ENFP some people have stated that personality can make a difference, would like to hear from people on this.

UnclePaul,
I strongly suggest getting a swami. Many questions will be answered! ;)
FYI...I measured teacher by the book and am a secretor, ISFJ, and have several explorer traits!( Reactive worldview, finger prints, body style, environmental sensitivities) I can run my swami with either western or southern heritage and one will make me an explorer, the other a teacher! The percentage of teacher in me is one more than explorer so I follow my swami/ teacher eating plan. I could actually follow either one of the diets (my swami explorer or my swami teacher) as I have compared them very carefully...remember, we are all unique, but I choose to follow teacher as I get a bit more variety. 8)

There are different theories, but my personal take is that because my dad is an O- explorer I think it has influenced me, as we share so much more in common than I do with my A+ mom.

Cajun,
Yeah I really need to do SWAMI, I have tooth shoveling and my fingerprints are different except my thumbs. Lately been comparing BTD non secretor and genotype and trying to piece together something that works. For me laying off wheat is paramount it really kinda wrecks me physically, seems to be my biggest problem. The one thing I haven't tested yet is my taster status might try to find the strips around here if not will order from Dr. D.. My mom is an A- who carries a recessive O gene, my blood type A sis has an blood type O son. My dad was blood type AB although some things point to him being a non secretor he's gone so I'll never know. Wherever the gene mutation came from its all landed on me, neither of my siblings have dealt with the unexplainable health issues I have. I guess I'm special after all. Almost forgot because I haven't eaten any in so long, soy doesn't work well for me cant pin it down just don't feel right when I eat it.

Finally summers here, was complaining about the rain 2 days ago now its 92 and sunny, like they say don't like the weather now just wait 5 minutes. Gotta love the great NW. Time to shed some winter pounds. Keep ya posted.

UnclePaul,

Ditto on the soy for me! ??) Don't know why, either. Doesn't agree with me.
I am able to use a bit of soy milk in my twice weekly coffee but cannot even use it for cereal...I use almond or rice milk.
Ditto on the wheat, also. It just screws everything up! ;D

As a type A non, eating wheat and dairy makes me feel tired and gross after a few days--though spelt doesn't seem to be as much of a problem as other wheat.
