My very amazing colonic hydrotherapist recommended cod liver oil, a neutral for O's. She said the benefits of cod liver oil are different from flax. I focus on flaxseed and olive oil.

What do you think?  ;D

If codliver oil is ok for your type :
neutral for all but
O nonnies ( avoid) and benificial for A nonnies
I find it a very helpfull oil
due to good levels of natural vitamin A and D and omega 3
I use it it the winter period ( October to april) and this year when I started I have had no SAD , no colds, no flue  :D
If your ancestors like mine ate a lot of fish - you might not transform flax oil well into good omega 3.

I would go with this. If you like fish, grew up with fish or have an ancestry that was fish eating Cod Liver Oil may be the best choice for you. There are lots of oil products out there that will do the job as per A,D omega 3 but one type may suit you better than others.

Personally the fish source is a fit with me but for others a grain base may be more suitable.

I take it.  My doctor says it has a lot of health benefits.  Cardiovascular, stomach and brain.

I take cod liver oil, and sort of crave it.   :)

Freshly ground flax seeds are in my smoothie every morning (1/4 cup), so I don't think extra flax oil is necessary in this case.  Also, the flax oil sits kind of heavy in my stomach.

Gotta have it.  I tried cutting my dose last week & was dead in the water.  Fatigue, depression, crabby, constipated, etc.  I'll swear by the fermented cod liver oil from http://www.greenpasture.org.

I don't notice a difference when I take Cod Liver Oil.  Maybe that's because I also take 2000IU vitamin D daily separately?

What are the effects of too much Vit D?

I think hypercalcemia is one of them.

It really depends where you live and how much sun you get.

Lots of studies show that actually we needs about 5-10 x RDA of vitamin D - here the officials considers to at least double the RDA due to the widespread lack of vitamin D and the high incidents of cancer, diabetes 1 , weak bones etc in Denmark.

I live a place where we only get enough sun in ( may) June and July to produce enough vitamin D - but if I lived a sunny place I would check my vitamin D status before I took it.
I don´t take CLO from May to- September for the same reason.

I went to the health food shop and they didn't have fermented cod liver oil but they had fortified cod liver oil.

what is the difference and what does each one do?
I read on a thread that it may be good for weightloss but didn't specify which one.

I wouldn´t choose one that was fortified with synthetic vitamins since they are questionable IMO :-/

Might be worth your while to have a look around on line. Most places don't offer much in the way of choice so it may take you awhile to fond a good product otherwise.

OK - I am confused.  I am an O non and as such should not have cod liver oil (thins the blood too much?) but it is a diamond super food for Hunters.  Which advice should I follow?  I am thinking I should try taking it in the winter as, even with flax and flax oil, my skin is dry in the winter and I think I have very mild SAD but my immune system seem to be quite strong as I didn't have any sick days this past school year. Any one else an O non and a Hunter, who is taking CLO?

you should follow the advice which best suits the system you are following.....are you finally into GTD or staying with BTD?
it s up to you, actually, both are excellent!

I think I should be following the GTD, which I am doing fairly well (even though I miss my avocados - I'll be able to add them back later).  I haven't had any Ezekiel bread in a long time and then yesterday I had an Ezekiel English muffin.  Today I ache something awful!  I don't think I should have ANY kind of wheat, sprouted or otherwise anywhere close to me!  I like the idea of seeing how many diamond foods I can eat each day.  I have made myself a chart to check each time I eat a diamond food so I can get a count for each day - FUN!

I`m confused about cod liver oil.
It is said on the book that it has vitamin K that promotes blood clothing.
Which is beneficial for type O.\
But as I look at description it contain alot of vitamin A. :-/

If your skin starts turning yellow, you need to cut down on A intake.
