That's a good question SheriBerry, and Dr. D has not answered that specifically that I know of.  Those of us who have made the switch over to the Genotype diet, seem to be experiencing that our chronic ailments are happily taking care of themselves in a satisfying way.

I have all the library series, and use various ones from time to time, but I find that I naturally stay away from any foods that are not appropriate for my genotype, even if they are beneficial for my blood type.  But I do emphasize super beneficial health library foods if they are also GTD superfoods.  

I find the supplement suggestions in the health library series and the encyclopedia Protocols to be very helpful, and use them liberally as recommended for my blood type.

Yes, I've  looked at these pages and do not see an answer there.. nor do I see arthritis addressed specifically...  so I'm still asking.... not second guessing.. straight out asking...

Still   looking for  more specific  answers that are bennies on BTD arthritis that are avoids on GTD.... I could spend  some weeks/ months seeing what MY body says, which I will probably do.. but I am more curious as to  what "the higher powers"  would prescribe from the beginning... specifically for arthritis.. BTD or GTD?

I think his recommendation would depend upon what conditions you are trying to treat along with Arthritis.

IF Arthritis is the only concern or primary concern it appears as if the Blood type diet is a better choice.

There is an Online Quiz, that can be used to determine Dr. D.'s recommendation for a combination of conditions. If only arthritis is selected, the blood type diet is recommended.

So, C_Sharp, that was a great answer!
I guess   what I was really getting at is whether or not the BTD is passe' and not prescribed by Dr. D anymore... i.e. the Genotype is replacing the BTD...
OR whether for some the BTD is still the best option.....
and yes, arthritis is my only real problem....
it mainly has to do with a lot of the fruits that are bennies on the BTD that are  avoids on the GTD.... so confusing!

You don't have anything to lose by trying one then trying the other and seeing which one specifically relieves the arthritis.

Sheri,
I personally have had joint problems over the years, and I know that cherries helped on the btd.
So I would say follow the btd.  On the gatherer plan, the problem to me would be the peppers,
I love red ones, but in the past they did seem to make my joints act up, (nightshades).  
So experiment with the two plans, see what works, what makes things worse.  Your body knows, but these plans are a good guide.  Definitely avoid wheat! ;)

My arthritis is from years of   distance running and tennis... so I am not sure if it is ever going to go away... and I really don't want to take months of experimentation to see which foods affect me if I can get some  good answers here.  I might  have a particularly hard match and then have exceptionally  sore knees and blame it on some food... my life just isn't  that black and white and there are too many variables involved!   For instance, tomatoes are good on the gatherer diet   but bad on the arthritis diet... so  I am just wondering  which one am I to follow?

but then red meat is probably not so great for arthritis (don't know if Dr. D says this )  but the gatherer diet doesn't require beef...lots of fish and turkey.

Sherry I have had arthritis for 40 years, the BTD got a good handle on it, then the arthritis book came out and I went to it, it helped even more, then last year I done a Swami and changed and went to it, My arthritis came back, so I had to watch what I was eating, then the GTD came out I looked at it and said NO WAY. I toke the test on the internet and it said stay BTD, so I have went all the back to the arthritis book and that is where I am going to stay, It has done the most for me.

Jayneeo,  beef IS one of those things that is super beneficial  for arthritis on the BTD but only neutral on the GTD...so, there again, I'm caught... which to do?

All of you arthritis sufferers let me know what you are following...

My arthritis is due to years of distance  running and tennis...  I quit the running.. still play a lot of tennis!

Sherry; I eat a lot of Grassfed Beef, as we know the body heals its self at night, and we need protein to run on in the day, so I eat some beef of the morning to give me the power to go in the day, I eat fish at noon, and then I eat more beef at night about three hours before bed time.
I am 99% grain free, I just can not do any grain, now about once a month I will get the urge for somethnig sweet so then I will toast one slice of 100% rye bread and put ghee and jelly on it, that is my grain.
I take Deflect, Calcium, Bromelain, and Connectivar.

This is certainly no over-statement! But I am so glad to see you say that. Yesterday evening I finally got up the nerve to eat black beans again since all these others have almost been the death of me. Well, I was amazed at the difference in how I felt, and this morning I feel even better!! No stomach problems whatsoever and the sense of well-being is incredible. How could anyone explain the difference in the way these different beans have affected me? We're complicated all right!

We may not like the way our complicated bodies behave sometimes, but the more knowledge we have the easier it is to make the right choices. And even though the black beans are merely a neutral for me, they definitely are filling a need right now. But that doesn't mean that the diamond beans won't work later on, and I will try again in a few weeks to see if my stomach or whatever else may be the problem has improved enough to make me able to eat them.

As for the arthritis, I don't know why more people won't try the castor oil packs on their joints. Do a web search on arthritis and castor oil. It might surprise you!

I am confused on certain foods such as blueberries, which are super beneficial in the arthritis book, yet a black dot for GTD for Gatherers....
Same for bananas... listed as beneficial in the arthritis book, but a black dot in the GTD....
I want to be eating the best foods for this condition!  Otherwise, I have no problems....

sheri, I am betting that the reason blueberries and bananas are black dots is they are high glycemic , that being a major issue for gatherers....hence, if you are your proper weight, you could have them.

Oh, and for those of you just starting to read this thread:  I accidentally erased the initial  post/question.. don't know how to restore it.... it basically asked  which book I should be following for arthritis:  the BTD arthritis book or the  Genotype Diet book.....  
still haven't received a real answer  other than Larry stating   that  for him the BTD arthritis book works much better for him.   Thanks again, Larry.

I really like the idea of   doing those foods which are beneficial on  both the GTD and the arthritis  book... then maybe adding a few back in and seeing if there is any reaction.

  I would love to hear from any O Gatherers who  have switched to the GTD and seen super  improvement  in their arthritis.. OR who have gone back, such as Larry.

I love hearing what you all have to share!

I follow the GTD except for the night-shade veggies.  My arthritic joints are literally pain-free now & my weight remains stable at 126. I'm as close to being in perfect shape as a 69 year old woman can be.  I've never been happier.

Rex, baby, you are our hero! I would love to weigh 126 and it would be a great weight for me...well maybe a bit low, but the point is you have no pain!! My arthritic fingers still bother me, but I think a bit less since the GTD. I agree that we need to see your diet! give us a typical day....

it all depends on your body s own susceptibility to those.....
you need to see for yourself, like Rex did, not adding night shades to her plan, even if beneficial in her GTD food lists.
