Do any of you ever do one day fruit / juice / water fasts? I used to do them one day a week, usually with fresh fruit juices. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to do them on ER4YT only with beneficial fruit.

It's said to be healing to the liver and GI system for some people. I guess some people even water fast one day a week.

I learned to fast in my 30s & it was the answer to many things. I have gotten away from it & I know it would help give my body a rest. No eating means no avoids + fasting cleans the system.  I usually did it for one day at a time with water only. If I tried it again, I'm sure I would need to do diluted juices.
If you do juices, water them down & drink them slowly. Don't have too much too early in the day. That will stimulate your appetite & maybe jolt your blood sugar.
I also fasted for religious reasons, but I had to learn & understand the physical workings behind it to do it successfully. There are those who refuse to fast because it gives them a headache. If they understood the detox concept, they wouldn't be afraid to do it. Of course, the water & juice helps with the headache.
Warning: If you are grossly overweight(meaning more toxins), get a practitioner to guide you through a long fast.

I have a friend that did a juice fast a couple of years ago.  He went nearly a week (he was also my roommate at the time).  He had a lot of trouble with IBS, but the fast cleared it up for a while.  After learning about the BTD, I reminded him of that and pointed out that he wasn't eating  avoids during that period and that's probably why he got better.  He hasn't started doing BTD (still needs to find out his type), but he's more open to the idea then many people, partly because of his ongoing IBS troubles.

Thanks for your replies. :)

I used to get a lot of benefit out of a one day fresh juice fast when I'd get stressed or had trouble sleeping. It used to give me energy I needed once in a while. I haven't done one in a few years or so. I've got a Jack LaLanne juicer that I seldom use any more. I don't know but I guess I prefer to eat the whole food vs throw away the pulp.

Some raw food diet books for pets recommend that you fast your pet one day per week.  This seems SO logical to me for my cat, as well as myself, also a natural "hunter"  ;)

The idea of it just feels right, and thinking about our anthropologic history, we should be going through phases where rabbits were just too hard to get that day so we don't eat.

Makes sense to me. I think house cats tend to eat more, out of boredom. Fasting them one day a week might be a good way to help them prevent illness. Maybe giving them some broth on fast day might be a good idea, or just let them drink water if they want to.

I'm not sure if I can water fast one day a week, but I know I can do fruit only one day. :)

I'm kind of on the fence about this because in the ER4YT books somewhere it talks about how fasting is not good for O's at all.

I'd have to go searching through my old books... anybody remember this?

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Maybe if I ate fruit meals a few times a week with beneficial fruit that would be a better idea. :)

Eating lots of beneficial mangoes lately seems to be making my lips itchy feeling. They are supposed to be in the same family as Poison Ivy, so I'd better watch out not to get into that - it grows on my property.  :o
