I've been back on ER for one week now, and already my BMs have improved a lot. I had gotten terrible smelling BMs from eating whole organic fruits, vegetables, and grains. Whenever I tried anti fungal therapies I got bad side effects or they had no effect. It was a vicious cycle.

A week ago I woke up, and before getting out of bed, I said to myself: "Joe - it's time for you to stop eating grain and eat ER4YT again." I had forgotten how ER diet made my BMs effortless and virtually odorless. "The proof is in the pudding". I could see 3 or 4 holistic MDs and spend most of my savings, and if none of them recommended ER4YT for me, I'd probably have the same terrible smelling BMs as when I started out.

I was getting loose stools from just about every therapy or supp I'd try. Now I am finally having normal BMs again. I hardly even need toilet paper! It's like my body is saying "we like that kind of food - we'll digest that perfectly". This is the way a BM is supposed to be. That's got to be a good thing.  :)

I drifted away from BTD in 2002. At that time I had lost my job and couldn't afford many supps like Larch. I still think I was wrong to wander from BTD. I've been on very restrictive diets before and BTD is not as restrictive as some of those were. When I took too much high tech iron chelates in 1990, iron foods used to cause sharp pains in my liver area, so I became afraid to eat many foods for 2 years or so and survived on potatoes, onions, puffed corn, and soy protein isolate. In the 80s I had lots of problems with foods too and could only eat a few very low carb veggies with meats.

Then in 2000 I started to eat a lot of coconut oil, which enabled me to tolerate lots of fruit. I enjoyed every piece of fruit but I just realized that it was the reason my stools smelled so bad. I have had a lot of mineral imbalances that I now might be able to balance.

ER4YT has done more for me than any MD or other diet, period. And this may only be the beginning. I don't think I could ever go back to having those bad smelling stools. I know that could turn into big trouble for me some day if I kept on that way. I'd rather prevent illness than have to try to reverse it. The fruit and grain is like a Wolf in Sheep's clothing for me.
I don't think there's a better diet out there for me, and I've tried most of them.

Joe TN...welcome back to the forum and the BTD way of life.  Good to hear that everything is back in working order. ;)  And as the song goes...'You can check out anytime, but you can never leave'. ;)

P.S.  Not sure if you know about it, but Dr. D. has a sequel to BTD called the Genotype Diet.  Great stuff.

It's quite an adjustment, and I did it cold turkey. I used to eat stuff like frozen OJ concentrate with organic milk poured on top. I ate anything that didn't make me sick. Actually it did make me sick - my GI tract and it prevented me from being well, but I didn't realize it. Maybe I ate all that as "comfort food" but it wasn't health food - not for this body.

I know I can do it. I've done it before - lived on very restrictive diets. I was food allergic in the 80s and had to rotate foods. It wasn't easy. BTD is easier than that.

Now I'm going to eat fruit the right way - the ER4YT way. I used to think the book said an O NS could eat 1-3 pieces of fruit daily. I just realized it's 1-3 pieces per week. That's how I'm going to eat it from now on. I don't have to totally deprive myself of fruit. I can eat a cup of blueberries twice a week, or a grapefruit a week - but not both.  ;) And I'll enjoy that fruit when it's time for me to eat them. I won't eat any more than that. My colon health will shape up, I bet it will. I'm going to wait a month or so before eating 1 or 2 pieces of fruit per week, just to let my colon bacteria get established.

I'm taking Larch and getting Polyflora-O soon. I had a colonic last week and I may get more of them, and BTD might do a lot to keep my colon clean. I'm breathing better - less mucus from all the yogurt and cheese I was eating. I can definitely do without that stuff!

Hi Joe, the 1-3 servings of fruit per week is a typo in Live Right For Your Type.  It is in fact per day, as you first thought.  But you seem to be on the right path, adjusting the amounts to fit what your body can handle at this time.

Hi,

Glad to hear that! Yes, LR4YT is the book I have. I guess life isn't really that bad for an O nonnie after all.  ;) I'll cautiously add beneficial fruit some day.

What I did lately before I became compliant again was eat apples & oranges a lot. Kroger's often has nice organic Cameo and Red Delicious apples for only $.99 a pound, and I'd eat 2 or 3 of these daily, and grains on top of that.  :X

Watch those Red Delicious Apples from Krogers, they have Grape flavor injected into them, they stoped up my head and give me a headache for two weeks before I found out about them.

I've seen those in Kroger's before in a package of 4, I think they call them Grapples. They were never anything I'd want to try eating - they look too fake/manmade to me.

Commercial apples are a good thing to avoid anyway, as they are usually a major source of pesticides. They say it helps if you peel commercial apples first.

Apples are an avoid for O Non and I don't plan to eat them any more now that I'm ER compliant. When I'm ready for fruit I'm going to go for O NS beneficials.

I believe apples are a neutral for O secretor.

You are right Joe, I never seen your Non on the first post, I just finished making up to date food list from the web site for all blood types,Secretors and Non Secretors, so I have got that stuck in my mind.
