I told Lola on another thread once I found this short article I would post it... so here it is:

brew a better cup of tea

Green tea may be loaded with catechins, antioxidants associated with reduced risk for cancer, heart attack, and stroke, but research has shown our bodies absorb only about 10 to 20 percent of these disease fighters during digestion.  The fix:  sipping tea with Vitamin C-rich foods or juices, which were found in a recent study from Purdue University to significantly increase the amount of catechins your body takes in.  Lemon juice provided the biggest benefits, allowing 80 percent to be absorbed, followed by orange, lime, and grapefruit juices.  To maximize the healthy benefits of green tea, add a few tablespoons of citrus to your cup after steeping.

Those English! They take lemon with their tea! And then there's earl grey with bergamot ( a citrus fruit I believe)!!!

I love lemon in my tea, hot or cold, and I'm not British.  I thought that was the way to sip tea.

In Italy and Russia tea is mostly served with lemon. I always put some lemon juice on my morning green tea in the thermic container to keep it clear and not see it brownish in the afternoon.
Never forget that tradition are often useful (not the english one to put milk on the tea, helas for the british people). Parsley and most herbs and spices helps digestion and assimilation (some of them are also antibacterical as colve, cinnamom, thyme, garlic and oregano), as the right fats in the right doses !
