Some of the foods I can grow myself. ;D

Everytime I google one of the foods I find a wealth of information that is helpful for me personally.

Anyone else?

Several of my old neutrals (that I really fancied ) and grow myself is a superfood or diamond :-)
like raspberries, apples, asparagus and peas  :D

Eventually I'll manage to settle somewhere with a wee garden to call my own, and I look forward to growing superfoods... I remember with relish picking and eating green beans and peas off the plant when I was a kid... Delicious, crunchy and juicy. Yum!

Same here, I like apples, peas, rasperries, and asparagus.  Also, grapefruit, parsnips, turnips, rutabagas and some former dairy avoids ricotta cheese, mozza, and whey protien.

My DH can have more meat and dairy and my DD can have cottage cheese! For me I have more restrictions (no gluten or soft cheeses, a few new avoid fruits) but nothing I can't live without. I swear the white lines on my fingerprints are starting to go away already. Hurray!

I am loving millet and quinoa.... gatherer superfoods! And oatmeal. (let's face it it's a lot more grain than an O is used to!)

(hunter's) millet, quinoa and buckwheat have replaced my spelt and rye on the old O diet

I like that I've stopped craving sugar, I can indulge my pathological Britishness by drinking litres of black tea again, mate is the reason I get up in the morning (and it's how I manage to get up at 6.30 in the morning when I've never been a morning person. Ever!)

I've durably (rather than starvation yo-yoingly) lost almost 4 kilos in a month, I feel powerful rather than dumpy, exercise has become a pleasure rather than a chore, and I've learned to accept my body much, much more. I'm leaner and in better shape than ever before, and I can see that when this extremely stressful period is over and I can get into a proper routine, things are just going to get better.

The larger amount of grains allowed is wonderful too... Especially when like me, you live in the country that invented oatcakes! Ricecakes and almonds have become my new favourite snacks. This diet really plays to my strengths - I sort of felt shoehorned into a lot of the O lifestyle recommendations.

Whoopee, I have found that I DO NOT have any problems eating spelt and whole-grain wheat!!! This is a major milestone for me. I had been afraid to try any gluten containing foods because I didn't want to rush anything to do with wheat, especially. (And this fear had plenty to do with the white lines on my fingers.) Well, to my absolute surprise, there were no problems!!!! It even tasted better to me than ever before!

Also, I have found that any kind of peas do not bother me at all as opposed to the almighty problems I was having with beans!!! Haven't tried butter beans, which I love, yet, but I plan to this week. AND the turkey I ate this week gave me a much needed lift and no problems!!!

Some things I've figured out and things I like about the GTD:
   I can eat a small portion of turkey with a large portion of peas and the protein combo does not bother me at all.
   I CANNOT abide corn (an avoid) in any shape, form or fashion, and it was causing untold problems for me on the BTD where it was listed as a neutral. It took several weeks on the GTD to get over the most noticeable problems it had caused me.
   I have learned, as many others have, that ghee is a major benefit to my stomach.
   Also, occasional goldenseal has been a very beneficial addition to my supplements.
   Oh, and I LOVE turmeric on green beans!
   I like the fact that I don't have mental fog anymore.
   And this one takes the golden prize: No more stomach aches that had plagued me for my entire life!!! (smile)

I have lost 8 pounds without any attempt at weight loss.  These last 8 pounds have stuck to me persistently throughout decades of trying to lose them.  Suddenly I find my body at the ideal weight, and I'm thrilled at how much easier it is to do everything, less strain on my knees, clothes fit better, my body "feels" like me again, all thanks to the GTD.

Corn is an avoid for A nonsecretors.

It causes me a great deal of problems--even when consumed in small amounts concealed in other products.

Interestingly, on the Genotype diet it appears to be a black dot toxin for me (an explorer). Which means in a few months I should be able to eat it. But I am still vary wary of eating it since I have had such a problem with it in the past.

I love pine nuts, pecans, apricots and peaches. And I love stringbeans, (raw)  and can eat buckets of raw peas too. Our health food store shells the peas and sells them in a container.  They're
fresh and are one of my favorite snack foods.  Also in the health food store, I found some maple coated organic walnuts that are to die for.  Like candy.  Have to be careful not to indulge too much but I feel like I'm cheating when I eat them.  I plan to make grape juice "popsicles" when it gets warmer. I found very tiny black lentils in Trader Joe's that are delicious.  I've gone through a few red grapefruit binges where I'd eat more than one a day.  I periodically crave grapefruit and then quite abruptly don't want any more.   I've got my core group of super foods that have become my favorites...but.. my biggest problem is when I'm eating out.  I'm disappointed that restaurants don't offer me the foods that I've gotten so used to eating at home.

Less garbage, the diets are definitely environmentally friendly. More compost, though, so looking into doing that gardening thing too. Guess now's a good time to get started! Problem I need to overcome with that is "deer", we get herds in our yard. Well, "families" at least. Not too long ago they were more beneficial in my freezer but now I think I'll just leave them be. ;) So I'd need to build a tall fence with a netted roof to keep them out. Bears and slugs also a problem. Oh bother.

How long on GTD did it take to notice these changes?

I noticed the weight loss when a co worker said my face looked thinner. We have a scale at work, so I weighed myself and to my surprise I was down three lbs. It took 2 months to lose any weight.


Hair stopped falling out once I went gluten free and started the Gt diet. It is hard to tell which came first.
The Rosacea eased up at first but after 2 1/2 months  I don't get the red flush anymore. I did not have the acne just the redness.

My GI tract well, that I am sure is healing because I know Peter wouldn't promise it if it wasn't true.
My BM's have changed as well, hope that is not TMI ;)

If I use fresh, unsalted butter to make mine it turns out great! Was this what you made yourself that tasted strong?

I'm another Warrior who has relished going back to wholewheat products since farewelling the A type diet, and the result has been splendid, no such thing as constipation ever again.
Even if there are lectins there that used to be regarded as bad for us, the benefits from other aspects of the food must be even more telling overall. 8)

the link I gave is titled that way...it gives the aspects of WGA which not all GT or BT can tolerate.....
don t forget this is not directed to you but to those for whom wheat is a toxin....
always chose organic wheat, when purchasing.....
glad wheat sits well with you warriors! and other GTs who can profit from it.

I agree completely.  I love Indian food, but when I tried ghee on my toast it didn't taste good to me at all.  I have yet to try cooking with it.

You know, I didn't realize it till it was talked about here, but my hair has stopped falling out too.  I was loosing it by the handfulls.  I lost 5 lbs. easily and quickly without effort.

Why is it that we can eat wheat again when formerly it was such a huge problem?  It used to make me depressed and sluggish and constipated...and, well, suicidal at times.  Why can I and some of you tolerate a little again?  Was it wheat in combo with something else unknown?  Or was it the A diet wasn't exactly right, and in combo with wheat it just did us in?  I don't really  understand it.  Is it just the power of suggestion before?  I don't think so.....but....

once your gut starts healing you can add the foods you were intolerant to before, but were still ok for your type.

I think that some of the subtle changes we have made in switching to the GTD has brought about a better balance in the way our different systems function with each other.  The BTD is very good, and right, and the GTD is just more specific.

I've noticed this also, Ribbit, not with wheat, but in my case I'm eating a little cheese again, and have lost 10 pounds.  Prior to GTD, if I ate too much dairy, I packed on the weight.  All else in my diet is not the same, though.  I think it's the whole package that works together so well.

I'm wondering the same thing. Not only wheat, but grains in general. I've been eating a serving a day and the weight still drops off! That never used to happen on the BTD.

How much have you lost Drea?  I seem to only be able to lose if I don't eat grains at all.  In a week I'll know for sure my Genotype, ok 10 days.

My O neighbor (not on GTD, but happily on O sec. diet) is in a size 4 and doesn't want to lose anymore, but she still does.  I told her that her body would stop when it was where it should be.

OMGoodness, That's fantastic!  I can't wait to see what I am from Dr. D.. This is so exciting, I must say. I have 22 pounds to go. I've lost 8 lbs so far hopping around (get it? HOPPING?! LOL in time for spring!) from Teacher to Warrior and I tried Explorer, but I'm low carbing it and not eating grains.  I was hoping Dr. D, can fix my gluten and rice intolerance.  ;D
