I want to turn off my bad disease causing genes so I can heal.. so just how compliant do I need to be to do that.  For instance...

I was out and had a completely compliant superfood salad dressing at a friends house, but there was black pepper in it.  Will this cause my bad genes not to turn off in 4 - 6 months?

And if we are out or have a product here at home that again, has a small amount of a black dot avoid or even a full avoid in it, will I be just causing myself never to completely heal?

The main issue with me for me is 'leaving the house!' Ha!  But it's true.  And we go on little mini music tours where I can bring some stuff.. seeds, nuts, etc., and we can buy breakfast foods and cook at least that, but then we go out for one meal and then I'm stuck choosing the most compliant thing but you know for sure there's a little something there that is not quite on the lists.  (sigh).

I'd love to hear that I can turn off those genes and heal in that 4-6 month time period being 95% some days when I have no choice and - 100% compliant when I do have choices, cause I'm really trying.  

The good thing I've heard is that some things like green tea just keep turning off those bad genes.  I'm sure there are other foods in each GT diet that do the same for each person.

That book, that great book that Dr. D just wrote with all that great fantastic cutting edge science has me really wanting to do this big time and have a great healthy life and body.

The problem with black pepper for Os was mold on BTD.  Freshly ground black pepper was OK.  I personally don't think black pepper would be a deal breaker.

How compliant is probably individual.  If you have some specific health issues or a weight problem, the best thing might be to just keep a symptom or weight diary and find your own compliance level.  Some of the benefits are not so easily measurable though, so the more compliant you can be will always be better.

I think this leads to a larger question -- why are certain foods considered "toxins"?

My assumption is that black dotted avoids need to be avoided in order to accelerate weight loss.  The rest of them are harmful in some way.  But until we get the LR4YT-like follow-on to the GTD, we won't know for sure.

Black dot foods are off limits for 3-6 months to allow your body to 'deprogram' epigentic influences that they exert. This would also apply if you want weight loss or have a health issue, beyond the 3-6 month period or if you have a relapse.

Non black-dot toxins can be thus for a variety of reasons and it is suggested they be avoided as much as possible.

I was wondering this, too, as so far I have only found a diamond superfood, almond milk with carrageenan in it. Is it better to have the almond milk (organic non-sweetened that is so yummy) with one avoid ingredient toward the end of the ingredients list or stick with a neutral that has no avoids? (Assuming I can find one, now that rice milk and soy milk are black dot foods!)

You could also try making your own almond milk, no avoids.

Funky, when you did your fingerprints, how many didn't match? my understanding is the more your fingerprints don't match, the more white lines, the more compliant you will have to be.

Ouuu that's a good point that I hadn't heard before!  Well I'm pretty sure they all matched except for one of my  thumbs which seemed to have a loop and a circle sort of meshed at the bottom. I couldn't really read it... it was weird.  Anyone else have anything like that?

And where did you read that so I can read up on it too?

And I have ordered a soy/rice milk maker and you should be able to make almond milk with it.  It's by Tribest.  And from my experience they are a great company.

Hi Lloyd... yes I get all that for sure but here is another question... since I had the pepper in the salad dressing the other night, does that mean I have to start over again counting my 4-6 months of being totally compliant with superfoods?

Do the best you can. The cleaner the start period, the more likely it is to get you 'set-up' properly. Myself, I'm still finishing off the last bits of black-dots I already had, so I have not started counting yet.

Well if I am honest, from where I am at the moment I cannot conceive of any way that I will manage even one month without ANY toxins (black dot or otherwise) at all, never mind 3-6 months.  So in a sense I've failed before I've started.  I just can't see 100% compliance as possible.

But on the other hand I figure it has to be better to eat as many superfoods as I can and as few toxins as I can rather than just eat anything and everything.......  Whether that strategy has any chance of promoting healing I've no idea, but hopefully it might at least limit the amount of damage I do myself  :o

Maybe in time I will be able to get my head around 3 months total compliance.......... :-/

Ah, Lloyd, you must be one of those lucky people who can cook! I have stretched and now broil fish, cook up veggies, quinoa, etc. But making my own almond milk - I just don't see that in my very near future! I will keep that idea there, though, in case I hook up with a great man who does! ;D

Yes... i read about all that.  This one comes with a special brush to clean the rice container.  It was also reviewed as the easiest one to clean.  So hopefully....

For Blood Type Diet there was a newsletter that described relaxed, moderate and focused versions of the diet.

Relaxed simply added some beneficials and would probably maintain or slow down weight gain.

Moderate also reduced some of the more important avoids and could expect more gradual improvements in health and weight loss.

Supplements were mentioned also.

I'd imagine a similar result could be expected with GTD.  You'll have some benefit by even adding more superfoods to your day.

The encyclopedia was also good in identifying if a particular food was an avoid because of a lectin, metabolic inhibition, etc.  A lot of that information is in Typebase.  I'm also looking forward to the next phase of GTD.

I'm wondering if Deflect would help when we are faced with eating an avoid (like when dining out), and not knowing for instance (for the meat eaters), what they have cooked the meat in... etc., ect.?

Yes. Since the meat is often marinated with avoids, deflect could be useful, etc etc ...

When I made soymilk in my soymilk maker, I soaked my basket in a solution made with the Shaklee liquid concentrate and water.  By morning, the tiny little particles were loose from the micro-mini-mini-mesh basket.  No fuss.

Hey thanks! That might just inspire me to give it a go (and good timing since I will be getting a tax return in the near future!). So what do you store your freshly made milk in and for how long will it last? I'm thinking glass containers in the fridge.

It makes approx 2-3 cups and we drink it in a matter of 2-3 days so I'm sure you could store it up for several days but most likely you will be making it every few days depending on how much you use it.  And yes... glass containers in the fridge for us!

In the second post (Reply #1), I gave my almond-milk "recipe" for anyone (like me) who doesn't care to mess with lots of ingredients, equipment, etc.  If you don't use a lot of milk, maybe just want a cupful now and then for a batch of muffins, or an occasional bowl of dry cereal, this quick-and-easy version should be perfectly adequate.
