In summary, I apparently ate a large amount (last Monday, 19 Nov. 2007) of corn syrup by eating what I thought was homemade cranberry sauce (believing it to be somewhat safe), but which I'm sure now used a can of sauce as its base (the canned stuff being loaded up with corn syrup).  I had a migraine that night, had to make myself puke twice before I could sleep.  For the next couple of days I was an absolute emotional wreck, oversensitive, stressed out, borderline hysterical over my financial situation. :'(  Now I've settled into a sort of depressed, unmotivated, withdrawn funk, much like my normal self prior to BTD.

I figured by now I'd be back to normal, that all the garbage would be gone and that I'd be feeling fine again, but I'm not.  On top of that, I'm still out of work, and almost out of money, and I desperately need to find a job but can't scrape together enough motivation at the moment to go out and find one, so that's seriously contributing to my stress.  What a vicious cycle. :(  I have been going out for walks almost every day (~ 1 hour), and that does seem to help a bit.

It's so frustrating and discouraging that some little thing like this has rolled back all my progress for this past week, and probably for at least another few more days too, at best.

OMG! me too!!! I ate something with a corn derivitave in it and I have been an emotional wreck too, oversensitive, and totally buckled under pressure!!!!

The subject of corn syrup is very interesting.  It affects some people so strongly and others like myself never notice any effects.  I do have a son (doesn't want to know what his blood type is) who feels sick after ingesting corn syrup.  That was the first time I ever heard of such a thing.  I have to say I feel pretty lucky.  I avoid corn syrup most of the time, though.

If I could afford Deflect right now, I would get some.  I'm just trying to scrape up enough for gas and food, and hope that dad can come through with some help.

Corn syrup messes me up for about three weeks...  It starts with a "lightning storm" in my head and slowly fades away over that time...  Actually, all corn products affect me badly.  I am usually very good at avoiding any corn, but occasionally get into some in foods while travelling or visiting out...

As others have indicated, Deflect is the best, but also making sure you are well hydrated and the liver/gall bladder is working to help eliminate toxins are very important.

Sometimes forcing yourself to do a good, strong, sweaty workout will help burn/expel the junk out faster as well.  ;D

I just got done with my walk.  Hopefully the exercise will speed up the process.  I don't have Deflect, but here are the supplements that I have on hand: schizandra, vit. A (10,000 IU), vit. C, l-arginine, potassium citrate, Citracal, eleuthero (Siberian), ginkgo biloba, and magnesium (oxide) [and of course, my multivitamin].  Maybe there's some help to be had here?

and focus on your super beneficials as well as your beneficials, for those work like medicine. ;)

I figured out many years ago before BTD that it was the corn syrup in soda that bothered my guts and switched to diet sodas. I rarely have soda now, but still avoid the corn syrup-containing stuff. Gives me postnasal drip (tongue), sore throat, face sweats and bad gut. Reading the above posts will make me monitor an ingestion for several days, now, just to see. You guys' reactions sound alot like my reactions to wheat.... :X
Hang in there, drive55, it'll get better. I totally get the anxiety issues and feeling stuck. Be compliant as possible, and it'll get better. :P ;D

Sorry to hear of all your suffering, Drive.  You might benefit from drinking lots of pure water, getting extra protein, and focusing on beneficials.

I seem to be feeling better today.  I haven't been up long, so I'm not going to swear by it, but maybe it's finally out of my system -- I hope!
