BTD Forums  /  Live Right 4 Your Type  /  Typo O and Ketosis ?

I have a question on Type o's and energy. I was looking at Dr. D'S youtube videos (his blog) and he was explainning the different blood types and how they thrive and when he talked about Type o he stated that we do bad on starches and high carbs which is true for me so i'm wondering should we eat an Atkins/Type o diet and go into Ketosis (using fat for energy) or do should we run on Glucose as primary fuel for our cells.

Thanks Everyone  ....harry....

eat the BTD way....also you might want to check your secretor status, to target your food choices even more.

us non secretors do very poorly with grains, in fact some of us are practically grain free......so first get checked, then tweak according to your individuality.
Atkins is pretty boring considering all the wonderful beneficial veggies we get on BTD!
and the cheese, needs to go, if you happened to be a non secretor, too! :'(

sugar is also off limits for nonnies, and animal fat should be minimized.......lean organic grass fed meat is best.
this is where Atkins stays way behind when it comes to balance and physiological individuality.

Thanks Lola....

Reason i ask is because i do have Insulin Resistance and high blood sugar issues that does well on a Type o (which i am) lots of red meat and brocolli/spinach/onions etc... or low carb. But when i eat a perfect food for us type o's ''Bananas'' my blood sugar goes very high so i'm confused about that as thats good for our type yet it makes my health condition worse...thankyou !!

Hi Harry,

you seem to be a shoe-in for what I am doing.  Apply BTD in a seasonal manner.  In the northern hemisphere we are in winter right now, so a mild ketosis is optimal ... 'Lights Out' by TS Wiley will explain the insulin resistance and how to overcome it.

Please, steer clear of any tropical (high sugar) plant like bananas at this time.  These are summer-fruit.  Spring has no fruit at all!  (Fruit are at the final stage of plant life, not its beginning.)

I'm willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that both harry and resting are nonnies, from what they describe.

I  just recently had a battle with regular foods for a couple days and the results were headache like no other. I have cleared all that out and went to a nonnie diet while waiting for my secretor test to arrive. Last night I awoke with a strange taste in my mouth and wondered if this was a sign of ketosis..I work out a couple times a day and have lost 5lbs from staying away from any form of wheat.

Hey John....thanks for the response. So in other words eat the Type O foods (low carb) that help restore insulin sensitivity and then slowly add Type O foods higher in sugar as i improve...

I guess another reason i asked is i want to do high intensity exercise to inprove my health and Insulin problems but being in Ketosis leaves me lacking energy so i wasn't sure if any research has been done on Type O's and Ketosis or Low carb working in our Cell Mitochonda's or should we stay with Glucose....

I will admit most of my life eating high carbs diet and anything but a Type O diet with tons of grains and dairy...

Anyway interesting so again thanks to all.....harry.

Hey Ron-O....well i haven't had that test yet so who knows but i compared the Secretor and Non Secretor comparrisons chart and it sure seems everything i read about Non Secretor status matched me to the T.

Thanks ....harry.
