Is organic flaxseed meal as beneficial as the whole raw flaxseed...I would think so but I've been wrong before.

I have my flax ground, also....somehow I feel it is better absorbed this way.

Thanks Lola...I like the ground form because it's easy to sprinkle on fruit or mix into chopped meat.

also on salad and all you can possibly think of....even smoothies etc.

They have different uses.
Whole flax is for fiber, to clean out the gut.  The seeds pretty much come out in the same state they go in!

Ground flax gives fiber also, but it is mostly digested, and is a great source of lignans and essential fatty acids.  Once seeds have been ground, they go rancid quickly so keep them in the freezer if you have a large amount, or in the refrigerator if it's just a couple of day's worth.  What I do is grind them fresh each day in a little coffee grinder.

It is good to soak flax seeds over night - they are easier to digest this way.  :)

I think if people do have leaky gut, I'd go for the meal; so no harm from their peaks might be done.....
and yesss the best is really to soak em overneight....you've better and quicker results after their intake ;) ;D

I don't soak the meal, but I grind each morning and throw into my blender with pineapple juice, blueberries and cherries and other smoothie makings, and blend for a least 5 minutes.  I love the way the flax meal makes the smoothie thick.

I normally eat flax meal in my smothie or on my yoghurt- but this morning I was baking oat cakes -it is  a bit like oat crispbread
- it is basically oat, salt ghee and boiling water that - you let stand for a few ours to soak and roll out thin and bake in a slow oven... but I added some of my flax meal and they taste really good.

NOw do you think I have harmed the benefits from the flax by baking it ?

I know that flax oil ( that I never use )- gets very easy rancid and never should be used in baked or cooked stuff- but what about flax seed and meal.
It is an easier way to get my O to eat flax theese crips bread.... but I donīt want to harm the flax

ALA in whole and milled flaxseed also appears to be stable to heat equal or greater than the temperatures involved in baking batters and doughs such as muffins and yeast bread.

I had a feeling that it was only the oil that was so sensitive ... but wasnīt sure.
Now I can feed Emma with theese crispbread when we are busy :-D

Flaxseed/flaxseed meal can be used in baking.

For individuals who do not consume eggs, an alternate choice for using eggs in baked goods is to substitute flaxseeds for eggs.  They lend similar binding effects in the baking process.
