So here's the story.  Last week I had a nausea inducing headache for about four days.  I was throwing everything I knew at it.  I was at a convention, fixing my own lunches, pretty compliant, I thought.  Afterwards, I went and stayed with a friend and we went to the HFS to search for homeopathics to help.  Well, with the homeopathics, ice on my head and finally Advil (horrors!) it went away, only to return the next evening.  

Now here comes the interesting part.  My friend told me she had recurring headaches and a friend told her she may have a fat parasite (lives off of fat), and that if she didn't eat fat for a week, the parasite would die off.  She followed his suggestion, stayed off fat for a week and no more headaches.  

So I thought, what could it hurt?  I'll lay off fat for a week.  Plus, I realized my diet had been higher in fat that weekend.  Tuna sandwich on spelt, but with mayo, home made spelt cookies (more fat) and crispy trout (yum!, deep fried I'm sure) at a Thai restaurant for dinner.  Plus, I had done my first gall bladder flush a few weeks ago and it really didn't seem to do a thing for me (1 cup of olive oil).  This is the confessions part -- I eat more servings of fat than is recommended for A nonnies.

So now, a week without fat and I am energized!!!  And I wake up easier in the morning.  What's up with that???  And I feel satisfied.  And I lost two pounds and my finger joints feel better.  Plus, my protein intake is much lower as well, no meat all week, just some beans and red snapper and nonfat yogurt.  Should I really not eat meat?  Should I really have a super low fat diet or is this just a temporary energy thing?  Any ideas?

Hi Mrs. Rogers,

 You do have an interesting story.  When I started on the BTD, I went a month without eating meat, non whatsoever.  I felt great and energetic for 3 weeks and then on the fourth I felt miserable once again.  I then added meat back in, just chicken, turkey, and whiting.  I felt my energies coming back.
 It sounds like to me you are on a therapy.  I read also in LR4YT that A non secretors don't handle fats very well.  I personally try to not to eat much fats and try to keep my proteins up when I know I will have a stressful day.  On days that I need lots of rest and healing (like yesterday) I didn't eat any meat for the entire day.

keep the fat low, just up your compliant protein a bit.
watch the low fat yogurt though...........doesn t that have any avoids in the mix?
I d have the full fat organic if I were you.
staying clear of Thai restaurants was a great idea!

Hi Cathy,

Thanks for your insights.  Very helpful.  I was also finding it easier to go to sleep earlier without protein for dinner.  Then I ran across your comments on the "Type A Protein Breakfast" thread:

"Mitchie,  I find for myself, if I have a very high protein breakfast the day goes so much better.  Here is what I have:
Salmon with sauteed green tomatoes, zucchini, and eggplant
Lamb with sweet potatoes and spinach
Chili with turkey burger
Chicken breast sliced very thin with green beans
I eat my 1 serving of grain in the late afternoon to evening, I sleep much better eating that way.  If I eat to heavy a protein in the evening, after midnight I have to much energy to sleep."


So I am going to keep the meat and proteins for breakfast and lunch and use less olive oil in meal preparations.  Thanks again. :K)

Great suggestions, Lola.  I am going to keep the fat low and add back in a little more protein.  

However, the yogurt I'm eating is Nancy's Nonfat Yogurt, which has no additives.  It's just skim milk, nonfat dry milk and cultures (also no growth hormones).  Our lovable hippies in Eugene, Oregon have been making us good stuff for years.  I'm sure they are old hippies now.   ;) But thank you for the warning.  Others, take heed and check your ingredients!  I will switch back to whole milk yogurt after I'm done killing my fat parasite.

This could be due to your non-secretor status.  

You may want to keep track of yor fat intake on a daily basis and reflect if the portion/frequency suggestions are similar to what is outlined in LR4YT.

Also, be detailed about what types of fats you are consuming: extra virgin olive oil, ghee, flaxseed oil, commercial or homemade salad dressings, et al.

Your body may digest certain forms of fats more efficiently.

And yet....often a bowl of beans just doesn't do the job filling me up.  But if I dump a spoonful of olive oil in it, it's filling.

I've been doing the no-carb thing to try to get rid of Candida, and so I'm eating a lot of compliant meat for protein since beans give the nursing baby gas.  I'm so constipated it's not funny!  I thought olive oil should help, but after reading this, may that's not what's best.  I'm still doing the lemon-salt water every morning.

Ribbit, have you tried taking magnesium before bed for your constipation? It really helps me.

Ah.  I'll do that.  I have some powder that you just mix with hot water and drink as tea.  Maybe it would relax my legs too.  They're all tight and spasming in the mornings from lack of deep sleep.  THanks for the suggestion, Drea.

I take between 750mg and 1g each night, but I started out with 250mg and worked up from there. Remember, as soon as the stool is runny, back off on the amount.
