In 'where does an o go for a crunch' thread Peppermint twist (why do I think of Candyland's red-and-white sugar cane :) ) mentioned Mary's Gone crackers. Are they actually btd compliant? I guess they are, if they were mentioned, but just want to double check! I don't have a box in front of me, but pre-btd days I once purchased a box of them and they were nice n crunchy.

I hear you, Lola....better to stay far far far away from 'em nasty carbs, eh? This info is hard to digest....really! I sometimes feel I need these foods to calm down.

If you are really, really craving something crunchy, make sure to have some protein with the crunch. I'd recommend some walnut or almond butter to go with those MG crackers. That way you will fill up a bit faster and not want to munch the entire box (which is way too easy, those crackers are really tasty!).

hey ron... pork?  isn't that a definite NO? for everyone??
I just LOVE almond butter , but it sure doesn't love me.. all of it.. the organic raw kind... any kind..and all other nut butters... dunno.. just gives me total brain fog... which is SO sad because I could just LIVE on nut butter... even plain

Diffy, that much almond butter sounds like you're not getting enought of something else, maybe protein? (As in meat.) O nonnies need alot. Just a possibility....

Plus you are getting a lot of omega 6 EFA from all that almond butter, which needs to be balanced with your omega 3 EFA intake.

I believe some Mary's Gone Crackers have soy sauce (wheat free perhaps though)  I didn't really like them, and much prefer to make my own flax seed crackers, they're really easy to make and you can flavor them with whatever compliant flavors you prefer.

Flax has omega 3's, so it could help provide the balance for the almond butter, as well as some crunch.

I get all itchy when I eat a walnut. I stay far away from them. Maybe as my immune system begins to behave better I will be able to tolerate walnuts and avacado and pineapple and a lot of other stuff I like.

Try soaking them overnight, then air-drying and toasting them. I couldn't eat walnuts either until I started doing this. Soaking gets the mold and dirt off the nuts, and deactivates an enzyme. Once they're air-dried you can skip the toasting if you like, and grind them up with a little light olive oil to make walnut butter. Or just eat them as is.

Thanks C-Sharp for posting the ingredients.  It was the soy (and the price) that made me decide they weren't worth it.  

I think I'll make some flax crackers today, now that it's on my mind.

A friend of mine made me some vegetable crackers that are a treat. He just used kale, broccoli, ground flax, wine, onion and garlic powder, and a little ghee. Put it all in the blender and then spread it thin in the dehydrator. Nice to have something crunchy that is healthy! The MGC's never agreed with me so I guess he got tired of my drooling every time he was having something crunchy. ;)
