Today my Priest said to me "so you heard about the BTD too?"  He said he tried it  once but couldn't stick to it because of his busy schedule.  I hope that I can help him realize the importance of trying it again...he's a diabetic.  Maybe instead of him always preaching words of encouragement to me...I can do a little bit of my own preaching back to him about the benefits that he can derive from the BTD.  My husband has become quite a follower since he sees how well I've been doing on the BTD.  I hope that Fr. Paul will decide to try it again...I know that if he can stick to it, he'll feel so much better.

My new physical therapist also commented that she tried to follow the O diet a while back; she's now doing the Fat Flush Diet. She was under the mistaken idea that O's eat mostly meat, and little veggies. I hope I was able to set her straight on that one. She agrees that she feels so much better when eating grass-fed beef than soy, but also likes a lot of veggies.

I can't figure out why it is that some people "get it" & others don't...I just know that I'm so glad that I was one of those who did.   I feel so much better...more energy & I look better too. It's a real confidence booster.

I truly think O's have the most dramatic results..maybe that's a good thing seeing that there are so many of you. Us AB's are so complex, blessing or curse???

It's true that some people get the idea immediately and others just can't grasp the concept.  Some people will do everything possible to not understand it!  :-)

As has been said before, it is a paradigm shift, a higher level of awareness and self responsibility . . response able, able to respond appropriately.  Those who really give the BTD a true chance are forever changed.  We become friends with our bodies and find it increasingly easier to understand what our bodies need.  When our bodies are happy, then we can be really happy.

Wow Victoria...that's so well stated.  Bravo to your your ability to use words in such a way that gets through to people. You have exceptional communication skils.  I love your term "response able"...priceless.  To girlie...stick with this group, you'll do just fine.

some people don't want to understand it, because, if they do, it means they have to change.  Once you understand it theres no sense in not changing is there.

most people I have spoken to who are curious about my diet, because of the improvement evident in me, either balk at the idea of getting the BT test done (!) or dismiss the idea without giving it a chance.

happily, others are giving it a try, and starting to get positive results  ;-)

Yes, Victoria that comment was a good one.  It's hard seeing people who really need help, but balk at any suggestion of change.

yep........I have a girlfriend who has tried every diet under the sun, but won't do this one because 'it's too restrictive'.  ::) ::)

I think that for most people, this way of eating is simply too big. It's not just a matter of adjusting your diet with a few additions or deletions. This is a complete attitude change, and for it to really work it has to be a serious change, a true commitment. And in my experience, most people can't be bothered. They just don't believe what you eat can make you healthy or sick. I get a lot of ridicule at work for following the BTD. I've been called delusional, foolish, gullible, and just plain stupid. And yet I'm slowly regaining health and strength, very slowly losing weight, and finding many gifts of wisdom and understanding in the things my body tells me through struggles with cravings and so on. Meanwhile, my coworkers are ending up with diabetes, chronic IBS, migraines, RA, osteoporosis, and even a couple cases of early Alzheimers. They all eat mostly refined wheat flour, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and other processed food and drink. Yet I'm the one who is 'delusional'.

All you can do is continue to follow the wisdom of the Blood Type Diet and hope that if/when people are ready, they'll come to you. Just as you and I chose to follow the BTD, other people must choose this for themselves also. It's tough to wait, but when someone does decide to ask serious questions about what you're doing, it's worth it.  :)

I have noticed that especially the americans find it a BIG struggle:
that they actually have to cook food!!!
- due to the fact that most comercial ready meals aren´t BTD friendly
- I have never heard that excuse among Europeans! - except a few UK young guys I met in London a year ago.....
Guess most of us Europeans still can cook !

BUT a typical approach among Danes are:
BUT we are all the same - the offical state tells that we all need LOTS of grains and that it doesn´t matter !! !!!

Last time ( a year ago ) I went to the doc -and met a new doc- who actually agreed that there might be something to BTD - we talked a lot about the differnce between my O daughter and I
- and about why the official approach towards cardiac disease makes some sence for all the A ( and AB) but really isn´t right for O ( B)
I was so delighted when I left him and asked:BUT why dont you advise people to use BTD ?
His awnser: t would be too complex to be a MD !!!!
and a bit dangerous for the agricultural org. !!!!!

I have converted quite a lot of A and O´s ... but only one B  !!! guess it is easier to be B and AB in modern society than A and O ?!

Henriette, I agree with you on Americans not knowing how to cook. Most of the food commercials you see on tv here are either for snacks/convenience foods that require little or no preparation (microwave meals, pizza rolls, ramen noodles, candy bars, cookies, etc), or diet meals. At my workplace, the summer-help college students actually brag about not being able to cook! Most of them grew up eating sugary cereals and snacks and were given more processed food for lunch and dinner because their parents either didn't know how to cook or didn't have time. And that probably means when these kids get married or move in together and have babies, they'll do the same thing--serve up all those processed empty calories and wonder why they and their children are sick all the time.

Btw, my doctor just doesn't know what to make of the BTD. He always asks me what I'm eating when I go in for my annual checkup. I tell him lean red meat every day, cold-water oily fish at least every other day (working on getting more fish into my diet), lots of vegetables, eggs and ghee, some fruit, nuts and sparkling mineral water with a little fruit juice, or plain water. (And some dark chocolate in my trail mix, let's be honest *chuckle*) I also give him my supplement list--rhodiola, cal-mag tabs, valerian, nettle leaf, B-complex with emphasis on B12, and coming soon--bladderwrack :) He freaks out over the red meat and eggs, lack of dairy, lack of grains . . . then looks at all my normal range numbers and just can't figure it out. He tried to get me to go on that miserable loathesome 'low fat' diet that's been my nemesis for many years and I almost threw that stupid diet sheet right back in his face. NO WAY will I EVER trade the BTD for that horrible diet! I also gave him a copy of ER to read, but I don't think he's cracked the book yet. Maybe someday he'll get it, but I'm not holding my breath. :(  Until then I'm his mystery patient.

I'm so glad that I opened up this thread & see all the praises of the BTD from others.  Sometimes I find myself wondering if I'm alone in this, a "fanatic" as some call me and it's so encouraging to see that I am not alone at all.  Thanks everyone for your input.

Brighid45- glad to hear from an american that my observation was not compleetely off the limit- I started to feel guilty after I wrote it.....BUT for an European the ammount of snack and readymeals in peoples diets are just crazy...
The danes I know who uses the MOST ready meals etc - maybe use them 3-4 times a week- NOT every day/several times a day.
When my sister came home from NY she couldn´t belive the cereal she was served for BF was more like our cookies....or the cardboard bread......
BUT it is coming here as well........:-(

I´m a mystery patient as well- went from a bordehigh cholestrol on a low fat/high grain vegetarian diet to a more than normal numbers - with a diet with plenty of eggs, some meat and WHOLE FAT dairy :o  scary......

The Fat Flush diet is actually quite good.  I follow it now and then as it's quite similar to a Type O diet, but one of the requirements is two tbls of flax seed oil per day and .. ugh, it's just not my fav oil.  I'm glad olive oil is a beneficial for O's.

Don't feel guilty for speaking the truth.  :)
We used to have a lady in our church from Denmark named Charlotta (except it didn't end in an A, it ended in some letter that we don't have in our alphabet) and she couldn't get over how little Americans cook.  Every time she went home she'd bring back all sorts of things to eat and would share them with us.  She made cardamom bread that was to die for, before we convinced her to quit eating wheat.  It was so neat hearing her talk about Denmark.  We'd tease her, trying to get her to try to talk with a southern accent.  She couldn't do it!  She couldn't get her mouth around the word "y'all."  lol

I'm tremendously glad to have found the BTD diet.  The first time I read about it, it just made perfect sense to me.  And my results sealed the deal.  I find it to be an incredibly easy way to fix whatever is ailing you.  

Now, on the other hand, my husband (an O) and my girlfriend (an O) are totally different stories.

My husband tried it for about a month and found it too 'restrictive'.  That actually translates into "I can't have crappy Shake n Bake or a gallon of ice cream every week."  

My girlfriend is constantly sick and allergic to every beneficial type O food.  Yet somehow she isn't allergic to an almost daily Snickers bar (which is really great for the massive candida infection she has).   Do you see how that works?

Anyway, I'm happy for all of us BTD'ers.  Here's to our continued good health! (sunny)

I think a lot of people just don't understand that adhering to the BTD should be assigned a much higher priority than they realize.  I personally have learned to adapt my daily regimen around the requirements of the diet, rather than the other way around.

An O friend of mine was totally into the diet for about a week and raved about how amazing she felt until she talked with another friend of hers who works for the CDC.  Her friend said, "That diet is unscientific and cuts out entire food groups for certain people.  It's unhealthy."  So she quit the diet and feels bad again.  HELLOOOO!

My DH is the same way.......knows the diet works,,,,,,,,,,,doesn't want to give up the junk tho.  So I give up, with him. He'll either come back to it on his own or not. I'm pretty much done with him on that issue.  ;)
My brother is like your girlfriend. Says he's allergic to lots of O' bennies. Yet they have allergies to animals and have several cats indoors. Not to mention who knows what else he eats thats  "good" for him.  Oh well, what'r'u gonna do? :-/

Yes, you get used to both ends of the spectrum...
People very close to you for many years go "oh my God! Look at you! I've never known you to be vibrant, you're alive you're happy & sparkling!!! Wow!!
And the other ones who only met you recently who think you're nuts, plain and simple.
One asked me to help her lose 100 lbs very quickly, but balked at every suggestion made, from finding out her BT to changing anything in diet.

Thanks!! Glad I finally got it fixed. I tried yours and Wulf's suggestions. Just couldn't wrap my head around them. Looked in my old threads til I found "How to Post a Picture" and tinkered w/ it until I got 'that'.  It may not be up to specs, but I did the best I could LOL            If it's not, I"ll change it when notified.  ;)

My doctor asked me this as well and seeing how much weight I had lost and how good the numbers were said to keep up what I was doing.  Didn't delve into it too much, but he did give me encouragement.  Also I came off the blood pressure medicine I was on. ;D

I know exactly what you mean.

Personally I don't think it's all their fault.  Haven't we been raised to trust what the government agencies tell us?  We are supposed to trust the FDA - they are looking out for our best interest.

Food and Drugs should never be under the same authority.  It's a conflict of interest.

I could go on, but I'm preaching to the choir.

Hi CybrtoothTigress and Lola, we need to speak aloud for cases as when  they allow chicken farmers in the southern states to put chicken poop in lagoons for reprocessing back into chicken feed. We must  learn it  from mad cow disease. That is a perfect reason for political and social activism ; the fair opportunuties, the environment pollution and the health of mankind !

I've only been on BTD for 2 weeks but I LOVE IT!! I find it quite easy. I gave up sugar a year ago and was already eating Ezeikel bread. I've been on a health quest for some time and felt I was eating healthy, (black beans, tomatoes, chicken, avocado's, 100% whole wheat) No wonder I couldn't lose weight. 2/3 of the foods I ate where wrong for me.
My stomach has shrunk and I feel better, more energy, already! I do not feel deprived at all.  I'm definitely going to be a lifer.

BTD has really gone far. Im in Ghana (Africa) but on BTD. Its amazing Uh? A freind introduced me to it when I complain of indestion problems.

The reason many don't try it is maybe they have tried so many things, finally settled into a routine & don't have the energy to change again.  When I went to my old chiro, I could tell he didn't mind that I was on it, but surmised that he had learned so much about nutrition & had great habits. So, I think he was too tired or busy to add another paradigm to his consciousness.

Also, we all have priorities & go with what we like or what is important.  Like in my case, I just gave up on certain aspects of housekeeping--they are too stressful & repetetive & the results don't seem to be worth the effort.

The chiro also said that some felt worse on the BTD. He probably was talking about detox that many go thru. I have guessed him to be an AB or an O.  I don't know, but I think if he is an O & eats little meat & has tofu as he said, he will get worse as the years go on.  If he is an AB, maybe he has found out how to eat. His personality certainly is an enigma.

He knows a lot about certain things & I could recommend him for certain areas, but he just seemed to have a mental block about the BTD.  His substitute(the last time I was a patient) said the new practice he worked at had charts about the BTD & promoted it. He said he was an O, but wouldn't give up his cheddar chesse.  What a shame! That's one of the very worst things for an O.  But at least he knew about the diet.

Since I was active in La Leche for certain years, there seemed to be a mental block about moms who didn't breastfeed their kids not encouraging their own daughters to do it, even tho I'm sure they knew it was better than bottle feeding. Maybe they wanted to rationalize something they already did & couldn't change & didn't want to be labeled a bad parent.
Maybe the mindset against BTD is similar, altho one can change!
It's never too late. I didn't know about it when my kids were young, but I go on now.  Maybe it would have been chaotic with a 4-type family anyway!
My husband naturally likes many things for his type. My A son, unfortunately likes meat & cheese, but has a vegetarian girlfriend!!  However, she eats dairy. No blood type has that pattern.  If you can have dairy, you are a B or AB, which allows other things. This gal has a nice, calm personality so the dairy doesn't seem to bother her.(It can make folks grouchy!)

I gave up on certain aspects of housekeeping too . . . with two jobs, my left over energy is spent on shopping (for food), cooking (the food), washing dishes (from eating the food), laundry (no food there), and of course, some fun.  After that and a few other chores and obligations, cleaning is the last thing on my list!

I'm very tidy and very organized . . . just a little dusty.

I find that people have been schooled in the thought that  your blood type is confined to your veins. My friends at work laugh at me.. I am a nurse.
Once you get over the hurdle of believing that your gut is the center of your immune system not your blood it makes things alot easier.
   Also the word diet conjures up ideas of weight loss and not basic health and well being.
I wish we could lose that word but I think the publishers wouldn't let Peter do it on his first book so it is stuck.(correct me if I am wrong)
