Hi we shop at Wild Oats/Whole Foods.  Can anyone recommend a good brand of bread for Type A sandwiches, toast, soy burger buns, etc.

I know that A's can have some wheat items, but not certain wheat items.  It's actually a bit confusing.

Should he just stick to the spouted grain breads like Ezekiel?

I actually think they make a burger bun.  I know we have tried the Ezekiel Sprouted Grain English Muffins which are delicious.

Suggestions?

that sounds fine, if you are not worried about the plain wheat flour added to some sprouted grain buns.

look for spelt...some of the Ezekial bread's have avoids in them so read the labels carefully

Gosh, REally???!!! Wow... Avoids for A's and O's?

I've never seen those and Dr. D. Recommends them as Beneficial.

What are they?

This is what the buns contain (Food for Life brand):

Burger Buns, Sprouted, Organic
Ingredients:
Organic sprouted wheat, organic sprouted barley, organic sprouted millet, malted barley, organic sprouted lentils, organic sprouted soybeans, organic sprouted spelt, filtered water, fresh yeast, sea salt.

There are different varieties of muffins,
so one would need to read the ingredients on each.

Here is one variety from food for life:

Organic sprouted wheat, organic sprouted barley, organic sprouted millet, organic malted barley, organic sprouted lentils, organic sprouted soybeans, organic sprouted spelt, filtered water, fresh yeast, sea salt, and lecithin.

Yes... I just recently got him some hot dog buns from Food For Life.. and he loves them.

I really like French Meadows 100% European Sourdough Rye bread, although I don't know if it's okay for Os...it is one of the only breads that I can eat just one slice of (I'm a bread-o-holic, meaning I have no problem eating almost an entire loaf of say wheat flour sourdough bread...).

Various Food For Life bread varieties, Ezekiel 4:9 sprouted tortillas, French Meadow spelt and rye breads (many rye varieties), manna bread (albeit this is not usually used as a sandwich bread designed for substantial fillings).

Yes I've used the Manna Bread as desert and some of their varieties have avoids in them for me such as dates.  (sigh... too bad, I love them!)

My hubby told me not to get him the French Meadows as he loves it so much, he'd eat the entire loaf!  ha... Plus it would indeed be dangerous for me to have around cause it's an old binge food of mine!

I've found it at my HFS and at places like Whole Foods and Wild Oats.

Has anyone tried the Millet Rice Manna Bread by http://www.naturespath.com/products/breads . I have wanted to try this one but can't find it locally in my area. I assume it is ok for A's. The ingredients look ok to me. If anyone has tried it and can share the taste of it that would be great.

Ingredients: Sprouted Organic Whole Wheat Kernels,  Filtered Water, Organic Millet and Organic Brown Rice

Please try pre-slicing and freezing your bread.  Take out individual servings as needed, insteadof defrosting a whole loaf whereupon the temptation to eat several servings may arise.

The Pacific Bakery breads look good. My only problem is finding items in my area. We don't have a big HFS. I can order from our coop but then I have to order cases.

What about the Sprouted Grain Breads by Food For Life?

The one I got for myself (Type O Secretor), has the following:

Org. Sprouted Wheat, Filtered Water, Org Malted Barley, Org. Sprouted Rye, Org Sprouted Barley, Org Sprouted Oats, Org Srrouted Millet, Org Sprouted Corn, Org Sprouted Brown Rice, Fresh Yeast, Sea Salt

As a type O I would not buy that version of sprouted grain bread because of the sprouted corn.

I was really wondering about that but it seems that I read somewhere that sprouted wheats and other grain types were ok as long as they were sprouted.  

Maybe not???

Buzybee - I have never ordered from Pacific Bakery but I did see on their sight that you can.
Check out the 'Rebates & Deals'. There is a one time offer :  Order  4 and they give you a  free loaf. also something about Whole Foods Stores.
Also there is an "find a store near you" service.  

My 2 Local HFS aren't very big but they do carry some French Meadows and Pacific Bakery breads in the freezer. They both have said they would be happy to order the variety I like. (actually I think they would rather do that then guess what  people might like)

corn sprouts haven t yet been given a value per se, or tested............
but I might be wrong....

there s no mention of them being an avoid, either.

Sprouted corn is an "unknown," but I suspect it may be OK for most people (probably not us O-nons, sorry to say).
