I think I'm doing things backwards....I'm not used to eating a big breakfast (used to have a whey protein shake).....

My mornings are filled w/ energy = Larch tree powder in water then 1 hour later - 1 egg & ghee & flax seeds soaked over night

then lunch is a bit heavier = meat 5-6 oz & veggies w/ some manna bread and/or sweet potato and honey.....

then only 3 hours later I'm hungry again~!  apple, figs, walnuts

then another 3 hours and I'm hungry for dinner (7-ish) meat, veggies, salad, parsnips,  and I can't stop eating~!!!  I can go on and on....for a couple of hours~!!!what's happening to me?  My appetite at dinner time is insatiable :'( :'( :'(

Can some O's help me out here.....can you pls gimme some sample meal plan for the day?

Hey Namelessfemm...try having some red meat for breakfast along with some green veggies like romaine lettuce salad, kale, spinach, swiss chard, broccoli, collard greens, okra.   Getting a start with red meat in the mornings helps curb the hunger and keeps your energy level up.  :D

I'm reeeeeeeelie not hungry in the mornings though....should I really force myself to eat such a large meal anyway?

It doesn't have to be a large meal.   Especially when you are first starting out with changing your breakfast.  Once you adapt to it though...there will be no other way.  ;) :D

It took me a while to switch over to protein in the mornings, but once I did my energy levels really took a change for the better.

If you're used to eating a big meal in the evenings, the fat you consume in that meal can suppress your appetite for breakfast. So I would suggest backing off on fats and starches a bit to see if there's a change in your morning hunger.

I would suggest slowly switching to a good-sized breakfast, a smaller lunch and dinner, and maybe more protein-filled snacks in between. You'll find what works best for you along the way :)

you probably arent hungry in the morning from all the food you eat at night. i ate too much last night and cant eat anything right now.

i usualy have 1 meat first meal: beef/buffalo/eggs

and then later small vegetable side w/ O.oil: broccoli/okra/asparagus

my second meal is usually: salmon


this plan almost always is never like this, but that's because i never eat the same. its always different. yesterday i had fruit in the morning...buffalo for lunch...and nuts for dinner.

A shake or smoothie could never do for a meal for me...it has a temporary energy boost but does not last as long as a solid protein meal like meat or three eggs with extras.  

I do have a smoothie each day usually about 11.00am or 4.00pm when I feel I need something to keep the hunger away.  

It's easier to start the day with a stronger foundation and top up than chasing food to fill a void once the hunger hits big time.   :)

I'll give it a whirl~!!   I know my body's still adjusting/detoxing right now - this is the part that is frustrating for me (more than the Avoids!) - I keep experiencing changes so I can't fully assess what my body is trying to tell me....

right now I have agita - which is rare...

I had chicken and broccoli this AM - but only b/c I forgot to take out the beef  :-/

but I'll have a very big lunch and do very light dinner with no manna w/ ghee  :( and see how I feel tomorrow for breakfast....

I'm having breakfast as I type.  :)

Swordfish steak cooked with curry powder, garlic, cilantro, and spinach. Casserole style. I'll eat half now, and the rest for my lunch at work. For supper I'll probably have sardines and onions and salad. For snacks walnuts and "Just bananas flattened" from Trader Joe's. I try to have as many super beneficials and beneficials as possible. I figure I'm repairing past damage, and preventing future damage. I've been doing this for a little under a year now, and I feel so much better. The Aging book says that if you're over 55, which I am, that I should be eating 80% beneficials. So, I'm trying. Tomorrow it'll be either beef or buffalo, and the next day cod. I do have an occasional avoid, usually when I'm eating out. And that's only to make sure I get enough to eat, otherwise my blood sugar plummets and the effects are not pleasant.

:-/  it's not going well.....I don't know what to do....

dinner - is lighter no or very very little carbs - lots of veggies and meat -  with 1 tsp of flax (soaked)

7am - tsp ghee

830ish - totally not hungry - meat 5-6 oz and veggies  --- this is the weird part~!!  I'm not hungry but I eat it anyway but this does not seem to hold me over~!  I'll still get hungry at 12ish....

so lunch is same + manna and/or s. potato and honey (for my carb fix)

and then sometimes I even need a snack around 3-4

should I keep going w/ the meat and veggies in the morning?

any wise guidance is appreciated (and v. much needed  :-/)

I eat meat and vegis in the am, snack around 10 (a few nuts), meat and vegi around 12-1, snack in mid afternoon (2 bananas or a mango or 2 plums), and fish with vegi at 5-6. I always eat 5-6 small meals and try to never get hungry because it is too hard for me to recover. I am very active, but this may work for you as well....it really takes some time to figure all of this out. I have to look at what my day will be like and try to eat accordingly. Many of these calm people have been at this for years, it will just take time for the rest of us who are still struggling a bit. We will get it too though!

At a glance I can't see anything wrong with what you do!   What makes you think it is not working?

Why are you surprised to be hungry again 4.5-5 hrs after breakfast...that's how it works for me at any rate!  I have my breakfast before 6am normally and am hungry again by 11am so I'll eat a bit of fruit and have my lunch 1.5 hrs later...

Not really worried about your afternoon snack either - I am starving by about 5pm and have a few nuts and some fruit then because I don't normally get home for another few hours and don't get to eat my dinner until quite late in the evening...bad, bad me I know :(  

How big are your servings of veg?  You can have unlimited amounts of beneficial veg so I wouldn't worry about eating lots of them...still would not overindulge in the starchy varieties.  You can also have 5 portions of neutral veg a day...  

When do you eat your evening meal?  

Do you use olive oil/ghee with your veg - fat will keep you full for longer...

Thank you Debi  :)   I know you're right - I read these posts by other O's...and I guess I just want my routine to be set and predicatable....I have to be more patient  :B

I'm just not used to eating "food" in the mornings - and then after the ghee and flax - I'm good for a while....maybe I'll just eat a real breakfast around 10-ish...

If your blood sugar is low in the mornings (meaning, unusually low, not just the normal low), you won't feel like eating and may actually feel nauseated.  It'll get better as you fix your pancreas (by following the BTD) if that's the problem.

Definitely play with your routine a bit - if you feel better with a snack first thing and a proper breakfast later in the morning that's ok!  If you are hungry have some food - going without is a huge stressor.  How hungry you feel on any given day will depend on a number of things - how active you are, how well you are, how much stress you suffer etc...Trust your body to guide you!

:'(  I can't seem to get a schedule down just yet....I had a wee bit too much Rice cake (korean snack) on Mother's Day and boy did I feel the effects of it~!

I guess this is still good b/c I'm learning more specifically about my body....I feel like I need to detox....

Anyone know where I can find more info about an O detox that is compliant with ETD?

Hello Namelessfemm...this is so typical of O's.  To figure that they should only eat at the meals and that they should be able to go for hours before their body needs any nourishment again.  That will depend on what you ate.  Remember, your body is like a furnace and needs to be fueled to keep it going.  You are doing well.  I do think you need to incorporate a few more veggies with your meals (especially to help that manna bread and sweet potato along) and by all means if you need a snack...have one.  Don't let the acid in your stomach take over as for us it is not a good thing.    

I used to try and just eat the three meals a day and would get into trouble with that.  I keep compliant snacks in my purse, van and packsack that I travel with.  One time I was talking with Kristin, on Skype, about how hungry I was before supper and that I was in a hurry to make it so I wouldn't get that 'I want to eat everything in sight' feelling.  Her comment to me was 'What is it with you O's that you feel you can't have a snack to take the edge off.'  'Duh, I don't know'.   Read Robin's (such a wonderful cook),Suzanne's, Mikeo's, Kate's and all the rest of the O bloggers for information on what's an O to do.  Lots of good information.   I would suggest you read the other bloggers too because alot of them have good things to say also.  :D

Keep up with the snacks, but don't make them too big.  Small bites with all food and chew slowly.  That saliva needs to mix in with the food so the stomach is ready for it.  ;D  

Are you drinking enough fluids, getting enough sleep and enough exercise (my favorite)? ;)

I am very new to this way of life, but I can tell you this.....your entire body is going thru a major change right now.   And the best thing I have found, is to eat when you are hungry, and real meat in the morning is WONDERFUL.  
I am not suggesting you stuff yourself on starches and rice cakes, but if your body says " FEED ME"  then find some good protien and lots of veggies all day long.  Your body is trying to play catch up right now, and is finally finding food to be completely useful..........instead of harmful and sickening.  
Contrary to the world's idea of little breakfast, little lunch, huge dinner.........you may need to eat 6 or 7 times a day right now.  There is nothing that says you can't eat 7 times a day if you are eating small portions of good protien and great veggies!!!

Chew?  what's that?   OH - yes - I think I reallly have to eat w/ my non-dominant hand - being a nurse - running around and stuffing my mouth whenever I get a moment doesn't help either....will have to make a conscious effort on this one....

Fluids - min 6 but most days 8  ;D

Sleep - no - why is getting to bed so difficult for O's  ??)

Exercise - usually do hardcore wt training and be sore for 3 days - gradually changing over to a Daily Cardio routine with 1 or 2 strength exercises...

Your welcome anytime. ;)

Anyhow, when do you do your exercise?  A good thing to start with in the morning is warm water and freshly squeezed lemon juice.  Great for getting rid of mucus and to help the stomach acid to get moving to get you ready for food.  On days that I don't have this I don't feel hungry till a little later.  I try to get my exercise in as early as possible so that the rest of the day flows right along.  Having something ready for afterwards works really well so I don't have to waste anytime preparing.  (Except for reheating...either in the toaster oven or the stove top...no microvaving for me.) ;)

Sleep is soooo important for anyone.   A really good book to read is called 'Lights Out' by T.S. Wiley...especially for O's.  It has been mentioned many, many times on this board and it one of the ones that I own personally. (Need it for reminders every now and then).  And...you are a nurse...do you switch shifts alot...days/afternoons/nights?

Secretor test would be another good thing for you, but I see by your personal information you are in New York and unable to obtain one.  If you know someone in another state close to you send them the money for it, go visit and have them have DHL pick it up and voila...there you go. ;)

Another good thing for sore muscles is Bromelain on an empty stomach...first thing in the morning and last thing before bed...both times away from food.   Works wonders.

If you can...try to eat more veggies and less grains.  I know...that is the hard one.  (Such comfort foods)  Took me a long time to get that out of my system, but am much happier for it.   Even the manna bread and rice I have to watch.  Millet and quinoa are not too bad, but then again the quantity is the key. ;)

I have noticed I do much better if I eat red meat and veggies in the morning.  When I mentioned to someone having a breakfast of ground hamburger sauteed with spinach and onions, they gave me a really weird look.  No, that doesn't sound like "breakfast" to most people, but I'm sure there's a few type-O BTD'ers who will say, Yeah, that sounds about right!   ;)

I eat that breakfast with ground turkey breast instead of the beef! I get those same looks!

But really :
it is strange how fixed people are about that breakfast have to be some sweetish carb milky thing ?!

All around the world it has been common to eat the most weird things for breakfast and in the past people ate rather heavy breakfasts: Like my grandfather would have oatporridge with cream and followed with a softboiled egg and 1 slice rye bread and 1 slice wheatbread with jam.
In Scandinavia ryebread and herring or smoked meat was common or porridge made with ryebread and beer and herring on the side.....
I Japan misosoup with fish , veggies or softboiled egg.
In France I had cabbagesoup and red wine and cheese for breakfast once when I stayed with farmers.
In Italy I had melons and ham, sausages and bread and white wine.....

So it does not have to be cereal and sweet cakes...

Being a B I have more options that are more "normal"
but I cook for my O:
She used to be very concious about NOT eating somthing too weird compaired to her friends.
Having eggbased things was just weird enough !
BUt the last years her O ness shows up and she ask for more protein in the morning.
Eggs and veggies or fruit are still a top favorite:
In winter kale or spinach stirfried with minced beef and spices are great -but she finds it too heavy in the hot summermornings.
Mozzarella cheese and tomatoes or fetacheese and lettuce and watermelon are her top fixes then. ( she is a secretor with no problems so she has a bit more cheese...)
Cold eggdishes with vegges are nice as well.
OR just cold meat ( beef turkey) rolled around veggies as a fast breakfast.

A lot of cool replies I can see. I just wondered, if I was the only one noticing the reason why you (Namelessfemm) cannot eat much in the mornings?

Nobody can, if you eat as much as you do later in the day! A big dinner at night, fills your stomach and your appetite is still gone the next morning.
  The easiest way to reverse your eating pattern, would be to starve yourself or fast a couple of nights, then watch out for that appetite next morning!
  You could compare it to bad sleeping patterns. In bed late at night, can't get up in the mornings, can't sleep until late in the night..and so on and so on.

LOL - you're so right Lasse~!!  I really don't know why it's been so difficult for me to change.....the saying is so true: you form your habits - then they form you....

We're on the same wave length - b/c last night - I thought that I should give it a real effort to try this O regimen...I had no carbs for dinner - only meat and veggies....AND I had meat and veggies this morning!!  Not a whole lot - 3oz and some broccoli and bell peppers - but BOY oh boy - it's like a mood enhancer - I felt sooooooo good afterwards....

I did get a weee bit hungry at 11-ish so I had a banana minus the guilt - snacks are good right?  Right!  We'll see how the rest of this day goes.... ;D

Again another obvious thing that I overlooked - I eat late b/c my hubby comes home late - but I will change my habits!!  I'm determined~!!

Namelessfemme...you are doing very well girl.  Yes...bananas are good.  I try to have a very small handful of nuts (walnuts, pumpkins seeds, almonds or pecans...or nut butter from them) with my banana or fruit.  Just to get a little of that protein boost in there.  Something that is really good...(my Greek BTD trip rescue recipe-Banana Concoction) is to have  mashed bananas with two hard boiled eggs, a few nuts thrown in and some nutitional yeast on top.  I also like it with Harmonia mixed in when I have it on hand which is most of the time. :) Yummilicious.

Great that you are feeling so good after the meat and veggies for supper and then again for breakfast.  Way to go.

Aha...I see from your personal settings your secretor test is on the way.  Sorry, didn't see that the other day.

Another thing that comes in handy for snacks is jerky.  Easy to make when you have a dehydrator.  Also, NAP's blueberry and chocolate cherry bars.  So portable, so handy, so compliant, so Yummilicious.

Okay - will definitely look for jerky recipes here, b/c I had jerky last night and I got a headache - could it be the jerky?  It said "natural flavors" and of course it was smoked....

Am I addicted to carbs or am I not eating enough?

Today:

0820- 3 oz Beef - 1/2 cup of broccoli cooked in ghee - 1/4 small raw bell pepper

          ~~~felt GREAT - in such a good mood~~~

1100- one med. banana - actually chewed it and took more than 15 seconds to eat :P

1315- Hungry but not starving:

         6oz beef - almost 2 cups of kale and brocc cooked in ghee - 2 leaves of rom.
                         lettuce and 1/2 med bell pepper - chewed and ate like a lady  ;)

           ~~~at the end of my meal I felt kinda full - but started to crave carbs, so I finished the veggies~~~ then as soon as I finish I want carbs/sweets~~~but I'm determined so I just kept my mouth shut....

It's 1440 now and I'm still hungry for something.....does this mean I didnt' have enough meat/protein?  Or am I just adjusting to the "no" carb diet?

At 1530 I'm planning to have some soy milk and another banana.... but I dont' want to feel deprived like this everyday...

and yes, I'm having my water....it helps with the hunger for a short while....

Might want to throw a handful of walnuts or/and almonds in your mouth mid afternoon, to carry you over to your dinner meal.  Your doing fine!  All will go well, keep up the good work.

Also, if your able to, go for a walk or two if only a brief period, get your mind out of the kitchen, enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Breath Deeply.  Helps you exchange your oxygen and feel healthier.

I made cute lil plastic bags filled with Pumpkin Seeds, Walnuts, Pecans....(can't find "clean" almonds)  I also bought prunes, figs, jerky....and a whole latta bananas  ;D

I'm off to a business convention for the wkend....I'm think I'm well prepared~!!!
