Hello! My name is Mindy and I am just a week into my Type-O diet. I wasn't sure where I should introduce myself, but since I also have Polycystic Ovarian syndrome I thought I'd post here.

My journey feels like a long one at times, and yet I am still in my early 30's so it doesn't feel like it's too late. :) As long as I can remember I've had a "sensitive stomach". My mom remembers it starting as I started kindergarten. I've just explained it away by saying that I am a worrier. The worst time for my stomach was when my parents got divorced. After a number of years of working on the emotional side of things my stomach finally calmed down.. to a degree.

At the same time my reproductive issues began and it's been a long journey of finding answers. My gyn history is two pages long. endometirosis, infertility, PCOS, hyperplasia....

I have struggled with my weight also. I have not been obese, but easily overweight. About 5 years ago I discovered weight training and I have loved it. I began to eat pretty close to the BTD without knowing it. The BIG exception though was all the wheat (extra fiber because I thought it was healthy), corn, and dairy. I had kind of come to an acceptance with stomach trouble, especially since the medication I'm on for PCOS causes some distress. It was only recently that I went into a health food store to see if there was something I could take to help my stomach out. The gentleman reccommended the BTD. Also, recently a friend of mine was dx with PCOS and she was reccommended this diet also. She happens to be type O also. After reading the book, I saw too many coincidences of things I struggle with and my type. The real kicker for me was when my mother in law called to tell of the results from many tests on her to figure out what is wrong.. she has ulcers and is type O also. I finally reached the point that I am willing to give this a try. Years before I looked at the O diet and thought, yeah right! I love my baked goods and dairy.

Well, i have been transistioning to the O diet for a week now and I've lost 3 lbs and my measurements have gone down also. more importatly.... my stomach feels great!

So this is my story thus far. I am 31, 5'3", 150 lbs and on my way to better health.

Thanks for being here.

Welcome to the forum msbraun!  Thank you for sharing your story.   Is there a particular question you wanted to ask regarding Dr. D's recommendations for your particular health issues?

I'm going to move this post to the testimonial forum.

No questions yet. I've been searching this site and reading lots. So far things seem pretty straight forward. Right now I am in the midst of reading food labels and getting familiar with the avoids.

Okay, maybe one question.

Take salsa for example, if vinegar is near the end of the ingredient list is there still enough in it to avoid?

Thanks,
Mindy

That would depend on you, and how compliant to the program you want to be.  If you are dealing with a health issue, many recommend complete avoidance of all avoids.  If you can find out the type of vinegar then, this product may be okay for you.

FYI, some food rating changed from Eat Right to Dr. D's later book, Live Right 4 Your Type.  I think apple cider vinegar is okay for Type O secretors.
