I need to be out all day tomorrow, will have time to eat between microwave or anything like I would like some ideas of what types of food I can take with me....I thrive on high-protein foods....I'll pack a can of sardines, but that's not enough for the day...I'll be out from 8-4....any ideas?

For work snacks and lunch I pack dried figs, homemade trail mix, pepitas (roasted pumpkin seeds), Unibars, and chocolate as well as small bottles of Gerolsteiner or Pellegrino. If you have access to refrigeration or a cooler, you could also bring hard-boiled eggs, apple or pear slices (with nut butter dip, yum!), bananas, bell pepper strips, and so on. Wasa Light Rye is a good cracker that goes well with just about anything you put on it.

I'm totally off grains. So no crackers for me.
So far I've got nuts and sardines. And a pear.

Canned wild salmon, sardines, tuna; homemade or compliant jerky, a small handful of raw nuts/seeds, small bottled water, individual packets of green tea, an individual packet of protein or meal replacement powder that can be easily mixed with water, Unibar or other compliant protein bar, fresh or an ounce of dried fruit.

Hard-boiled eggs can be kept unrefrigerated for a day or two (I used to take them backpacking).

Dried fruits have too much sugar for me, more than I can tolerate.
No soy for me either, otherwise I'd take along a serving or two of my protein shake. I used to take it with me all the time, pre-BTD days....

If there's a restaurant around I'll step in for a slice of baked salmon.

I'm following this thread with a lot of interest, because I, too, have been wondering what I would do if I had to have a brown-bag lunch.  My case is strictly theoretical for now, but I know sometime in the not-so-distant future I'll need to be thinking of a sack lunch.  

More suggestions:  

Baby carrots, chopped celery, sliced bell peppers and a side of compliant dip (maybe a nut butter).

A big spinach salad topped with chopped walnuts and crumbled, fully-cooked turkey bacon (kept cool, perhaps freeze overnight and keep cool during the day)

Make a protein shake the day before, freeze in an ice cube tray, and in the morning put the frozen cubes in a Thermos.  Depending on when you get to it it might be slushy/icy or just nice and cold.

Or make a hot soup the day before, re-heating in the morning before you pour it into a Thermos.

I so don't want to lug along a thermos...I think stopping into a restaurant for a slice of baked salmon is a good idea...less lugging....
