Hello, do any of you who follow the type O nonsecereter diet find the lack of starch and carbs difficult.  I'm really skinny right now because I'm not even eating any fruit due to my attempts at controlling my candida issues.  I'm getting no sugar.  I'll eat a sweet potatoe every now and again.  I still eat carrots.  I'll have rice maybe once or twice a week (small portions).

Regards,
Marion

My husband has been following the type O diet for about eight months now. He did not need to lose weight either, but has probably lost about twenty pounds. (Oh to be so lucky) He started adding in more acceptable nut's and that has helped a bit.

Marion,

I follow the O-non diet very closely and am slowly losing weight but that is how I want it.  Are you eating as much meat as recommended?  My chiropractor recommended that I use meat as a mid-morning snack, so I developed a meatball recipe with ground meat and mashed sweet potato, and have three meatballs around 10:30.  I have also used sliced roast beef.  By staying with meat and vegetables I don't have blood sugar swings.

If you decide to go for more nuts, I have tried soaking walnuts and then roasting them.  It makes them more appealing, at least to me.  Adding salt or Trocomare makes them more tasty, and then I can't stop eating them.

Non secretors can eat more nuts and nut butters.....make up a walnut(fresh out of shell...do not purchase unshelled) and pumpkin seed mix...a handful as a mid afternoon snack. I would eat the walnuts raw and roast the pumpkin seeds. you can add almonds to the mix as well or nut butter

with Candida...stinging nettle root is very effective...it actually has a good lectin in it that binds Candida so your system can eradicate it

I didnt' think that non secretors did well on nuts as secretors??  I am back on the diet again and get hungry in the pm. Any suggestions anyone for someone who has a sweet tooth??

Also, I have given up coffee for the umpteenth time and although I feel much better - really miss it!  Green tea just doesn't cut it.

Yerbe mate or rooibos tea may help substitute for the coffee.

Fresh or dried fruit, seaweed shrouds, raw vegetable crudites with compliant dip or nut butter, a small handful of dried fruit and nut 'O' trail mix, compliant commercial sweet jerky or homemade sweet jerky.

I found Dr. Itarus (NAP's green tea) extremely helpful in switching to green tea. I would consume the leaves and rice while still hot and it gave me a very good feeling. Now I do not need it any more I can consume regular green tea.

I still miss the high of the coffee but as with cigarettes, I know it will pass with time.

Best wishes.

Raquel, a forum member AB non-sec, also found that adhering to the diet perfectly was making her loose too much weight. She incremented grain consumption which as AB she could and solved her problem.

She insists on betting with me to see how low my weight goes by adhering to the diet. I keep on postponing the experiment :B I want the benefit without reducing my grain consumption ::)

Since my first NAP order (which is about three years now) I have been drinking this tea.  It is wonderful.  I have not found anything I like close enough to its taste.  I, also, eat the leaves and rice.  I like to put it on my meal.  Especailly soup, seweed wrap or mixed in with a salad.  Yummilicious. :D

Debra :)

P.S.  I don't even know how many bags I have gone through anymore.  I have an A friend who orders it with me also.

I know it's sugar that makes you fat, not fat itself.....but, are you getting enough good O fats in your diet?  You can try several different things to try to combat candida.  There are homeopathic remedies that might help, as well as herbs to use both orally and otherwise.  Employees at health food stores are usually pretty helpful.
