My husband can now eat dairy and eggs, two foods he used to have trouble with.  After being on the BTD for several months, I talked him in to trying them again and now they are staples in his diet.

Based on this, I assume that one can reverse some intolerances and sensitivites by cleaning out avoids and healing your system with beneficial foods.

My  main question is this:  I am allergic to dairy.  I get terrible stomach cramps and at least with goat cheese I get so dizzy for about 12 hours that I fall over if I try to stand up---just till it all gets out of my system, generally in a very rapid, painful manner.  But yet, mozzarella cheese is supposed to be neutral for me.  I really would like to try to eat it again, but I am afraid.  Very afraid.

Does any A out there have a dairy allergy who has successfully been able to tolerate mozzarella after not being able to tolerate it in the past?  Maybe if I heard other testimony I might get up the nerve to try it.

nope dearle, I am sorry if you show up such toughy reactions, I would't try to reintroduce such a stuff:-/ it's different about foodintolerance and a real allergic reaction; wouldn't go for that risk ::)
what kind of tests did you do??)  and if you are afraid to do so, don't go against yourselve....:K) ;) ;D

I don't/didn't have any dairy allergy nor do I have any problems when eating cheese especially goat cheese ( love it)  ;). Maybe other A's will chime in here for you. I personally wouldn't try to reintroduce the cheese if you had such a bad reaction to it in the past. Sorry  :(

Hey Ribbit,
Being an AB I'm supposed to able to have a fair amount of dairy, which I have always eaten. But have always felt horrible, tired, puffy face, breakouts, weight gain. I now know( as of 16 days ago) I have extreme allergies to All dairy, eggs, wheat and gluten. I will never be able to eat these for the rest of my life. So although most dairy and eggs are beneficial to me and wheat was a neutral the proof is in the blood.( and I'm down 14 1/4 pounds as of today- it's a miracle to me)

Thank you, Alia.  So MAYBE I can try it, but not necessarily.  I'd like to eat it, Lola, because it's a readily-available source of protein for me, just sitting there in my fridge being gobbled up by my B and AB family members.  There aren't a whole lot of quick, high-protein beneficial snacks (for an A).  I just discovered I can't even eat sunflower seeds anymore, my nonniness just being learned recently.  And I have two whole bags in my pantry.  :(

Congrats, Hopeful, on losing the weight.  My AB daughter has bad reactions to eggs also, and we just took her off gluten.

LOL and I think there are so many high protein snacks for A's!  

-any compliant nuts
-nut butters on cracker/rice cake/celery/apple etc
-smash some beans onto bread/cracker/whatever, or just eat them with a spoon
-make up some compliant bean hummus...yum!
-keep baked tofu slices in the fridge, also delish (recipe for baked tofu in the recipe base)

those are the ones that pop in to my head right away.  I personally don't eat cow dairy due to allergies, and even with goat cheese I would not eat it alone as a snack.  I eat it infrequently on, in, or under something as a nice treat.  Even if my allergy to cheese goes away, I would not add it as a main source of protein for me.  Too much of it will flare the allergy up again, and eating alone seems to make it worse.  There are so many beneficial protein sources that are easy to eat on the go.

Legumes + nuts
Legumes + dairy
Grains + legumes

these combos make a complete protein

And those protein combos don't have to be eaten together, Ribbit, just over the course of a day.  So if you have nuts as a snack, you don't need to eat legumes at the same time.

Do you have a reference to support that assertion? I question it based on some reading I did on the subject of amino acids a year ago.

When I was a vegetarian, I used to eat toasted soy beans.  I got them at Trader Joes.  If I were an A that would be a staple for me.

Combining complementary proteins in a meal is no longer considered necessary to get adequate protein in a vegetarian diet.  A quick google search on vegetarian diet protein brings up these references:

There are many more, but that is a good start.  Of course you can eat those combos together if you like :D but as long as you get the variety through the day you are good to go.

Allergies can be eliminated.  I used http://www.naet.com to eliminate allergies.  I am very interested to see if someone following the BTD and Dr. D's Allergy protocol would be successful in removing allergies.

In reference to the original subject of the post, I have friends who have told me how they could not eat certain foods, but started to introduce them into their diets slowly, and now have no problem.  i.e. dairy, etc.   Granted, they weren't following the BTD, but I was fairly convinced.   As far as allergies, I used to have to take allergy medication and/or get shots all the time, but within a couple of weeks of the Blood Type Diet all of my allergies have completely disappeared, and I haven't gotten sick in almost a year (a huge deal for me).

ABJoe,  my mom does NAET and loosely follows the BTD because I've raved about it so much.

I've been trying to stear clear of too much soy (though I do a soy protein shake most mornings to make my midwife happy) because I believe the soy protein and eggs I overdid when I was expecting my AB daughter actually caused her soy and egg allergies.  I rotated my proteins while expecting my second and the only thing we know he has trouble with is potatoes (makes his skin break out like it does mine)--and he's not supposed to have potatoes anyway.  He's been on the BTD since he started solids at about a year, and we honestly don't believe he has allergies.

Back to food allergies, I was just wondering if that could be the same with supplements.  I'm worried that taking herbs for too long will have a negative effect, 'cause I usually have a daily routine that I've been doing for months...    like, could eating turmeric every morning cause problems in the long run, etc?

I have a feeling that our ancient ancestors ate pretty much a similiar diet every day.  

It's wonderful to get variety whenever we can, as they did, but there are certain herbs and beneficial foods that are great to have a regular intake of.

AAh, thank you Lola and Victoria!   That makes me feel a lot better, 'cause I pretty much do eat the same thing week by week... being a bachelor and working 40 hrs, there's not much of this "variety" thing that people speak of.   I guess I was getting all paraniod because of the subject of this thread, worrying about screwing myself up because I have broccoli for lunch every day.

Our bodies do send us signals, but theyre not always easy to pick up on.  If youre worried about a particular food, stop eating it for a week or two (or longer---months---, if a grain or a nightshade, to allow it to get out of the body completely) and then try it again.  If it was becoming a problem, your body will tell you when you reintroduce it.  Usually the foods to cause problems are proteins (think: gluten, casein, egg protein, soy protein, pea protein, corn protein.  People dont get allergic to things like pears.  Turmeric is not one of those foods that people have trouble with because it doesnt have protein.  This is my understanding--nothing official!--from all my reading on allergies over the year.

(My appologies about typos.  Every time I hit the apostrophe key my cursor jumps up and highlights Board Index,Eat Right 4 Your Type, previous, or next.  I dont know why.  Its irritating to see all these grammar errors.)

You can be allergic to the chemicals and minerals in the water or the temperature of it, however.

You can be allergic to hot or cold...  

Allergies are developed during times of trauma or stress...  The body evaluates the specific energy and enviroment conditions surrounding the body at the time and stores this information in the allergy record for the body.  The more often the same conditions are present, the stronger the allergy record becomes to that energy or condition...

It is all from personal experience...  LOL!  We are all here to share so others can learn and understand more about ourselves...

Oh, not all people are susceptible to allergies...  The susceptibility is an inherited trait, but not the specific allergens...  Although you can develop allergies prior to birth!

Interesting!  My mother always said she was allergic to cold air, and would begin to sneeze and wipe her nose whenever she was out in the cold or in a drafty place.

ABJoe, a psychologist would call those "triggers," I think.  If an emotional setting reminds the body of a past trauma, it can trigger the body to re-live the trauma physically.  I never thought about allergies as being that way.  Very interesting.

I do, too!  I just love it.  I highly reccomend it.
