I have read many times that Evening Primrose, Omega 3,6,9 products, and Lecithin all have hormonal activity and will tend to congests the liver ... what do u people think ... any other views ??
I take Lecithin a few times a week ...  :-/

Just wondering if EPO is now ok for all BTs, why is it still an avoid in TB4 or is it only ok to use for female balancing and for a short period of time?  :)

That information is not correct.

EPO is listed as an avoid for type O in the Encyclopedia and is not listed for any blood type in the Female Balancing Protocols.

so you see hepatiguard is in the protocols, too.

According to TCM, chilled/cold foods, citrus foods, salads/raw vegetables, chocolate, white flour, and I believe white sugar congest the liver.

I beleive that u r right ...however; anything in moderation is ok ... as long as u don't overdo it ...

That is a one-size-fits-all standard line that you frequently hear when you talk to other people about diet.

I think we BTD'ers have learned that not everything can be eaten in moderation. ;)

I quite agree with MoDon...  I ate some pizza (lunch courtesy of work) with cornmeal under the crust of Friday and about an hour after eating, I got really hot and achey...  It lasted all night and even into Saturday...  Today, I've had a bad backache all day...  What a very ugly reminder that everything is not alright!

Yes, I do say that 'cause I beleive that anything and everything in moderation is perfectly fine ... that's just my humble opinion ... of course always speaking of ur blood type and I'm a B hence; we do have a great variety of food groups to chose from ... NOT everybody eats the same way and/or amounts but my philosophy is a little of everything (within reason) in moderation is the best and most balanced way to live in every respect of life NOT only when it comes to food ;) ;D

Me too, this is an excuse that people give themselves in order to eat things that are bad for them, yes everything in moderation is ok, IF, you are talking about natural, healthy foods, since even broccoli in excess cold kill you  (and what a smelly death)

As far as the liver goes, alot of things, could congest the liver, but mostly things  are going to congest the liver if it is weak so focus on liver strengthening foods like root veggies and tuber

however; I'm NOT out here advocating that people eat bad foods !!

I'll be the first one to say that eating a healthy diet full of fruits, vegetables, wholesome grains and lean protein etc ... whatever ur bloodtype group calls for is a WONDERFUL feeling and yes the cravings tend to subside however; they don't stop completely 'cause we're constantly being bombarded by eat this and eat that and the smells of wonderful breads, sweets ... and most days on the run ... and too busy to stop and have a decent meal ... etc it's NOT easy always eating in a healthy manner and NOT realistic either if we r totally honest with ourselves !!
'cause people don't always have time to slave over the stove ... and/or plan the next meal ... 3 x per day ... we're busy busy busy trying to make ends meet, living our lives in this stressful world we live in  ... etc ...
furthermore; not all of us feel so horrible if we slip and have a slice of pizza every once in a while ... I don't beleive in deprivation ... 'cause that just  NOT  a healthy nor realistic way to live one's life ...
Just my two cents ...

I'm still here though; trying my BEST to improve my eating habits;
it's a battle everyday NOT to eat an avoid ... but I'm doing pretty good these days and YES, I'm inspired ... and always need advice, reassurance ...etc ...
This forum is an amazing platform even though we don't always necessarily agree on everything; we r individuals afterall and that's the beauty of it

I do eat sweet potatoes, carrots, red beets (2-3x per week)...
all types of onions practically on a daily basis ... red; white; yellow; spanish ... and LOTS of garlic !!
As far as rutabaga and turnips (very rarely) and
celery once in a while ...

Any others that u can perhaps suggest for my bloodtype ??

and btw ... tuber ?? :-/

Another question; if I may ...

Do u suggest eating garlic and onions "raw" once the meal is
cooked and ready to serve or cooking it WITH the meal ?

I have to say, I read just not long ago, that being in a constant state of worry over our diet works against us too. It raises our cortisol level. So we either have to make our minds over we're going to be really compliant, and be compliant OR be okay w/ being the 80-85% that we 'can get away with'.  I'm not advocating eating avoids, I'm just saying being stressed over it all the time works against us and not everyone has the willpower to never eat an avoid. If we do, most of us will pay the price and hopefully that's the incentive we need not to do it next time.  ;) Once again, individuality.

I'm with LisaLea on this one.  Hypervigilance over food does more harm than good.... Make wise choices, eat wonderful, healthy food...and enjoy life.  It's all about balance and sometimes that means enjoying an occasional piece of pizza over a glass of wine with friends, etc...

I believe Dr. D addressed this once when he talked about eating some type of beef recipe at Christmas time and how much he enjoys it.

Being a fan of the liver myself, I just wanted to say Amen.  Laura, I didn't know that root veggies helped the liver!  That's cool 'cause I usually try to avoid them just because of the starch content.  Green tea is supposed to keep el higado (the liver) in good shape too, no?

I agree too. That is why I don't struggle with what I eat. I enjoy the foods that I should eat and keep in my house and I do not crave or struggle with wanting to eat other things. I really don't even think about the foods that I shouldn't eat. No stress here.

Ooh.  This rang so true for me.  I am still very new to BTD, tryig to absorb as much info as possible.  And often feeling overwhelmed.  I want to be eating foods that serve my body well as fuel.  But I often find myself tremendously stressed as I obsess over details.  And frequently, the stress causes me to crave the foods that I am trying to avoid or foods that are allowed, but not beneficial (like chocolate).  And if they are anywhere accessible, I may just end up eating them.  

On the other hand, if I relax and take a more lenient approach--say 80% compliance with no higher expectations, the stress level stays within an appropriate range and I will most likely exceed the 80% simply because I am not eating/overeating foods I should not have.

Obviously, I am responsible for what I put into my own mouth, but I am a big proponent of not making things harder than they need to be. ;D

I agree Lola.  I get so much stress when I eat the avoid foods, that I am able to relax and enjoy life (comparatively) when I eat compliantly...

Eating compliantly makes me feel healthy and good.  

I intrinsically crave beneficial foods, so these are the type of foods that I purchase to feed my body.

I do not have the scientific answer for you.

I have read this on the Sensible Health website and other TCM books I have read in the past (none of which I have purchased).  

I believe it may be due to the cold foods 'shocking' the liver organ itself.

The cold food I can kinda understand, but the citrus foods, salads/raw vegetables I don't understand. And for  :o  :o  why would choc, our lovely yummy choc, congest our livers?  :'(
