I am having trouble with the diet.  I don't like tea or coffee. I use to drink Diet soda before the blood diet.  I am trying to limit my juices because of weight problems. I am really tired of water.

I believe some blood type O's mix mineral water with a compliant juice, such as 100% black cherry juice, pineapple juice, blueberry juice, or any compliant juice appropriate for your blood type.

Have you heard of the natural mineral water, Gerolsteinter? It's from Germany.  You could also try other natural sparkling waters, or club soda.

Why not add a touch of a beneficial fruit juice (blueberry, pomagranate, cherry, pineapple, etc.) to a sparkling water, and give that a try.  Maybe start off with a 1 to 4 ration of juice to water, and add juice until you get what you might be craving.

I never thought of mixing my juice.   I will try that.

Hi dgusm, nice to meet you :)

I used to drink diet Coke on a daily basis, usually a six-pack of 20 oz bottles a day or more. It took me a very long time to get off it. Then I found that I still craved carbonation. Edna (Peppermint Twist here on the board) created a drink she calls Edna's Berry Berry Good Soda. You start with sparkling mineral water--Gerolsteiner, Pellegrino, or other natural mineral water--and add beneficial juices as desired. Right now I'm making mine with fresh pineapple juice, elderberry concentrate, and a splash of black cherry or pomegranate. (In the summer I use fresh blueberry juice in place of the pineapple.) The ratio I use is 4 parts mineral water to 1 part combined juices. It's not overwhelmingly sweet and it's good for ya too! Mineral water is good with just a twist of lemon as well. Give it a spin and see what you like. :)

My favorite refreshment these days is club soda with bitters and a squeeze of fresh lime juice.   Very low calorie!

Wow - that is a lot of Diet Coke!!   :o
I bet you feel way better without all of it now hu?

Yes, absolutely. I didn't realize how aspartame was trashing my health (along with all that caffeine). It took me about a year to completely kick diet Coke, a miserable experience. Now I can't stand the stuff. It literally tastes like poison to me--nothing but chemicals. Nasty!

My favorite breakfast for years was a toasted bagel with cream cheese and a cold diet Coke. It's a wonder I'm still here. *snort*

Linda, that sounds really good. I'll have to try that with some Gerolsteiner. (Club soda makes my feet swell up.)

Wow - I've done that in the past when I wanted to replace sirops (which you can't really find outside of France, to my great dismay), but never thought it might work in a BTD context. Awesome idea!

And yes, soda water with a squeeze of lemon is brilliant... Plus, no bar in the world is without it, so it saves some umm-ing and haw-ing.

Don't know if it's offered in your area, but R.W. Knudsen's flavored sparkling water.

I'm partial to grape, and red raspberry, though black cherry isn't bad, either.   The sparkling water covers my soda craving, and it's a nice change from having water all the time.

And as others above have suggested, try making your own.  I can't imagine it's that hard to make, but then again, trained monkeys can beat me at checkers.  ;D  So I might not be the right one to try. LOL

Good point MC. Our local HFS has Knudsen's by the six-pack and case, and you can buy individual cans from the cooler. I often grab some black cherry to swig on the way home. Great stuff :)

Yes, the juice and sparkling waters of any kind is wonderful!! Even the g'kids love it. I seem to have to limit myself w/ it tho cause it seems the sparkling water (even the Gerolsteiner) bothers me. Anyone else have that problem?
Still tryin' to get the DH off the Diet Coke. He *is* down to one a day, for which I'm grateful, but will be glad when he kicks it all together. His brother drinks 2    2 liters and a few cans a day!!!!! Sounds like Brig's twin! :o :o   The DH just told me this brother is having probs of feeling like he might faint/pass out. Ya think!!!  ::) ::)

Yeah, I used to drink about a 2-liter bottle of Diet Coke a day, plus large black teas w/cream & sugar. Couldn't understand where the heartburn was coming from  ::) Also, my vision had deteriorated steadily after I started drinking diet sodas in the late 70's early 80's. When I stopped the aspartame, my normal vision returned, after over 20 years!! And nobody could tell me otherwise til I experienced it for myself...stubborn, to the last. ::)
dgusm, be grateful you don't like coffee! As Os we're not supposed to have it anyway, and it's wicked hard to quit for some people. Ahem. I didn't have to quit it til I came to like it, only in recent years. Okay, I had a small one today. But I've had almost none in over 2 weeks... um, see what I mean?  :PCount your blessings! ;D

Wow osuzanna, must pass this along to the DH. He thinks just because he *only* has one or 2 a day, that it's not affecting him. ::)
You made me chuckle w/ your coffee confession!!  ;)  I'm still trying to talk myself into never having it again. I've been good for about 2 wks. It's very hard when there's a Starbucks on every corner (it seems like that anyway when you're trying to avoid them LOL). Knowing that it affects my BS really helps, cause I'm now thinking that is the cause of my headaches (BS).

:o :)

Great thread for newbies (welcome, dgusm!).  I can't add to the the great suggestions that my fellow boardies have already given, but I do just want to mention that if Gerolsteiner or other mineral waters are too pricey for ya (I recently had to give it up due to that!), you can just buy plain seltzer water or club soda (seltzer water is mineral-free, club soda usually is kinda high in sodium, but both are fine to use...I prefer seltzer) and make your homemade sodas with that.

Again, welcome!

Italybound,
Are you drinking the Gerolsteiner at room temperature?  O's aren't supposed to have it cold.  I personally like the Whole Foods brand.  It's only 99 cents a bottle.  I find that it's soothing to my stomach.
