Who has used amla vitamin c?  Is it recommended for O nonnies?  I can't seem to find a vitamin c that I can use.  The ascorbic acid one bothers my kidneys and the ascorbate which I got that is corn free is still bothering me.  Its like my kidneys get a bit sore lately and I have just been using this ascorbate powder one week or so.  

Who uses amla, or what other types?  I can't find a pure acerola cherries one without other additives that I don't do.  I don't think I get enough Vit. C from the foods I eat, though I might, but I don't eat citrus.

I hadn't thought of that.  Would a rose hips tea be good or the supplements better?

I think tea would be better, I have this same issue with vit c, can't use most because of corn and the acereola has additives, frustrating, but I do drink rosehip tea, also put rosehips in stocks

Amla, Indian Gooseberry
{Emblica officinalis - Euphorbiaceae, Tribe: Phyllantheae, Subtribe: Flueggeinae}

Amla is one of my recent discoveries as well. For Indian food the Amla Pickle reminds me very much of the Japanese Umeboshi. Even the fruit is very similar in shape texture and flavour.
If I remember Amla has been tested as a very high source of Vitiamin C.

I believe I once read that citrus peel contains high levels of vitamin C.  

Perhaps take the peels of compliant citrus foods you eat and add them to smoothies, prepared foods, toss in salads, mix with your meat or fish patties/loaf.

Just make sure you use organic citrus fruit.

Yes, I concur because many fruits are heavily sprayed with fertilizers and pesticides.

HERE  is a source for powdered Camu Camu.  I wrote the company to see how much vit. C it contains and here is their response:  "1/4 teaspoon about 500mg (typical capsule full) would have 120 mg of pure C (200% of the RDA)."

Scientific Botanicals Hipex is a rose hips concentrate.    Here is a link to the product.  Someone may want to email them and ask for a full disclosure of ingredients.  I wrote them a few months ago to find out the potency of vit C and this was their reply:  "The potency of vitamin c in the Rose Hips Extract by Scientific Botanicals is 160 mg per teaspoon."

Whole World Botanicals sells a nice Camu powder, but it contains maltodextrin.  They have assured me that they will be replacing the maltodextrin with yucca starch, but I don't know if this has happened yet.

It's my opinion that rose hips tea is a very low dose of actual vit c, although it is likely very well absorbed.

Regarding Amla (Amolo), I believe it is a very heat-stable form of vit C.  I drink it in tea form.
I order it from Dragon Herbs.  Click HERE.  Here is a bit about the stability of the fruit:  "Research indicates that Phyllanthus contains approximately 30% vitamin C (approximately 3000 mg. per fruit) and 480 units of SOD per gram. Amolo has been shown to enhance production and secretion of interferon and corticosteroids. Increases blood cell count and regulates blood sugar.
The thermostability of the vitamin C in Amolo is very important. The thermostability of the vitamin is due to the way the vitamin is bound up with certain tannins that make it nearly impervious to dissolution after drying, aging or subjection to heat."

Thanks guys.  I ended up ordering one today that I will try for now and see, then will maybe try the camu camu if this one doesn't work out, but I HOPE it does.  Here it is.  I hope the ingredients look okay.  Wasn't sure, but went ahead...

Looks like a good formula.  I am curious about their statement of 50% natural ascorbic acid.  I am wondering if there is added ascorbic acid or if they are describing the vit C in the Amla as being ascorbic acid.

I emailed the NOW company, and this vitamin C product is totally corn-free.  The stearic acid is derived from Palm.  So, hope this helps someone.  I took 2 this a.m.  You can order from iherb.com

Thanks for checking, Tina.  I bought a bottle this morning at my HFS, and look forward to trying it.  I don't care for the palm oil, but hopefully it has little left of the palm oil, much like coconut oil being used to make veg. glycerine.
