BTD Forums  /  Live Right 4 Your Type  /  Help, male who is miserable

I'm a male and I've got some kind of allergy or cold.

All day today I stayed home and rested.  The left side of my face and nose is running like crazy, both nasal and tears from my eye.  The right side is just fine.  I rarely get sick and don't have allergies so I have no experience with this.  Why does it run and run.  What is my body trying to tell me?  I've been compliant and drink plenty of good spring water.  I don't take medication except aspirin once in a while and I haven't had any aspirin yet.

Any ideas on how to stop the flow and what my body is saying to me so I can respond in kind?

Do you have some quercetin and nettle leaf extract to take 3 x day, just in case it is an allergy.

If a cold, there are some traditional chinese formulas that are commonly in health food stores at a very moderate price.

Magnolia Flower Tea Pills, for liquid from the sinuses.

Sang Chu, for a head cold.

Drink hot teas from the Traditional Medicinals company.  A couple of good ones are Breathe Easy and Gypsy Cold Care.  Or just grate some fresh ginger root and pour boiling water over it to make a ginger tea.

Soak your feet in a big pan with hot ginger water in it deep enough to come up to your ankles.
A couple of heaping TB. of powdered gingerroot in hot tap water.

For the future, get some Respiratone from the NAP store to have on hand for these moments.
Good luck with speedy healing.

Be sure to really dilute that GSE, or it'll really sting the inside of your sinus cavities.

Tom,

I second the GSE.  If you are having sinus problems, infection.

I had a sinus infection earlier this year that went on for months.  Nothing helped until i started using the GSE nasal spray (which you can get at WF's or probably any HFS) and within a few days my symptoms disappeared and i haven't had a problem since.

If you get the nasal spray you don't have to worry about it stinging your sinus cavaties, what Victoria is talking about (correct me if i'm wrong Victoria) is the concentrated GSE you get in a bottle (it is a multi-purpose product), you can dilute it and use it as a nasal spray.  With the nasal spray you don't have to worry about whether your diluting it enough it has already been done for you.

Good Luck and keep up updated on your progess!.

Yes, that's what I am referring to, if you use the all-purpose Grapefruitseed extract (concentrate).  Use only a couple of drops in a glass of warm water with 1/4 tsp. sea salt, and that makes a great nasal/sinus rinse with a Neti Pot or a sinus irrigator.

Tom,

What are you eating on daily basis and how compliant are you with this way of eating?

Is there alot of stress in your life?

All these factors contribute to a decline in physical health and a weaking of the immune system.

Xylitol nasal spray is something to consider but plain old sea salt neti pot use may be more effective, especially when used as a daily part of your health regiment (like brushing your teeth).  Neti pot information:  http://www.jalanetipot.com/

I feel for you Tom. Hope you are feeling better by now. I have been trying to catch the same thing this weekend and it has got me good now. Thanks for all of the good ideas people. I have been using the neti pot w/ salt and Dr. J's nose drops, drinking lots of fluids, taking my NAP suppliments, eating right. But the one thing I totally forgot to do for myself was GARLIC!!!
I just made a bowl of the garlic soup mentioned OHH it's feels so good going down my sore, gukked up throat, and just smelling the steam from the hot liquid loosened my sinus a bit to.
I had to use dried parsley but am heading to the store this AM to get some freash.
look at all of the benificals it has WOW need to be eating more of that stuff.
