We grow an herb called winter savory and it is so delightful! It is quite peppery and could be used instead of black pepper if one wanted to avoid black pepper. Anyway, fresh, that is. Easy to grow.

dried ginger..is also a bit hot in the throat :D and does work amazingly against ..::) almost you want ;D

Thanks for the tip jayney-O.

I, too, love the peppery and mildly stimulating and sweet taste of organic dry ginger as a spice flavoring for my meals.  I believe it is also great as a digestive aid.

ginger is a bit hot but also has it's own distinct flavor. I don't think I could get away w/ subbing that for pepper w/ the DH. Is winter savory like this also?
