Quoted from C_sharpActually, taking birth control pills is supposed to increase the level of iron in the blood.
Quoted from JamieBTaking Birth Control Pills helped me to get my extremely low Iron levels up along with 6 months or more of heavy supplemention, now my iron levels are fine. I wouldnt think that the pill would cause the level of iron in the blood to go down because usually it shortens your periods and lessens the amount you bleed. I know my periods went down from 9 to 11 days to about 7 which was really nice.
Quoted from Henriette_BsecBut you could get in trouble with the birth controll pill as well !
13 years ago I had a really horrible experience with the pill.
I was young- very fit- slim and in good health- checked from top to toe
- still after 2 months on the pill I had small blood clot in my arm !
It was such a horrible experience that I never went back on the pill.
If you bleed a lot...... yes maybe - butt please concider it carefully.
Maybe somthing else work for you.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about ur bad experience ... :'( That's terrible ...
Do bloodcloth disorders run in ur family perhaps ??
How did u realize that u had a cloth in ur arm ... were u in pain ??
That's very scarey indeed but I'm on the birthcontrol for many other reasons as well ... :-/
Quoted from JamieBI was at a beginning level of 8 (I cant remember the measurement) and went to 24 which is right around normal. I used nature's plus Hemaplex which my doctor had recommended. And I do see a major change in my symtoms because they are gone. Only occasionally will I fall asleep in the car while my boy friend is driving. I no longer have fits of extreme fetigue and in general I feel much better. I also finally got my thyroid hormone levels corrected so that could have helped. I didnt have too many problems with constipation but I worked my way up slowly in dosage so my body could get used to it, from 1 pill a day, to 2, then 3 and I was taking them like this for a while like six months. If your system is more sensitive then mine which is hard to believe then you could take floridex. I hope this info helps.
Quoted from pkarmeierLisalea, have you been checked for celiac disease? Low iron levels is one symptom. Here is some other info:
I have a better site tucked away somewhere. Will post if I can find it. :-)
Don't know why I didn't think of this connection on the "Anemia" thread. I know a gal that it took 8 yrs to be diagnosed! Ridiculous these days. There are some on this forum that have it as well. Melissa J is the only one that comes to mind, tho. :-)

Nope all are healthy - but none has used the pill.
The doctors was shoked as well- since I seemed the perfect candidate for the pill.
I was told to get off and never return to the pill.
I am healthy today
Yes my arm was sore and kind of sleepy- I have a very high level against pain
so it was just becuse my boyfriend was worried that I went to hospital.
Just be carefull :K)
I agree with Italybond that you should concider other reasons for low iron lewels.
