Hi,

From time to time I have gout flairups. Someone was saying the tanic acid in green tea may be contributing to the problem. I researched this with agoogle search (green tea + gout + tannic acid), but the articles were contradictory. Is there someone on this board who can shed some light on this?

I drink a good bit of green tea everyday, and would hate to have to give it up.

Thanks for any feedback.

neverthe less the question is still the same,

I think Victoria was asking how much green tea you were drinking.

on average 3-4 cups a day

It's not a Huge amount, but may be excessive since you have gout flare ups.

In your position, I don't think I would give up green tea, but I might cut down a little, say. . to 2 cups a day.

steep the bag for only 45 seconds...reduces the tannin count and drink 20 ounces of water for every 10 ozs of green tea you drink in a day
