BTD Forums  /  Testimonials  /  This diet is amazing!

Hello there,
I am new to the BTD. My naturopath suggested it to me. I decided to do an experiment for 30 days and follow the Type O diet to the letter, with a focus on O-beneficial foods.
Well, it hasn't even been a full week yet and already I am completely sold.
Keep in mind that I don't know yet if I am a secretor or non-secretor (am waiting for my test results)...
I was already off all wheat and sugar before starting BTD, but with the refinements I have made (eliminating lentils, spirulina, alfalfa, eggplant, potatoes, cucumbers, brussels sprouts, coconut oil and some other 'avoid' foods, and favoring beneficial O foods), here is what I have noticed so far:

1. My joint stiffness is almost completely gone. I was stymied as to why I had so much joint stiffness when I have been eating and living so healthfully--or so I thought.  I am so amazingly limber now! It is an odd feeling because I am not used to it! It's like my body feels like it is 'fluid' in nature.
2. I am needing much less sleep and have a ton more energy.
3. If I have a short night and have to get by on 4 hours of sleep, it barely phases me. In the past, this would render me virtually useless.
4. I am thinking so much more clearly. My memory is better too.
5. I swear that my vision is clearer and colors are brighter.
6. My mood is so much brighter and I am happier.
7. I have lost weight.
8. I look younger. Is that possible in less than a week? I can tell, and people have noticed and commented.
9. I feel so much more like doing things I used to enjoy...for example, after a long hard day at work, instead of going home and vegging out on the couch, I want to go do other activities or start new sewing projects or clean the house!
10. I have to force myself to go to bed at night...I could just stay up doing things because I have the energy to do them.
11. I feel better than I have in my whole life. I mean this. It sounds dramatic but it is the truth.

I am totally 100% sold on this diet. I can't wait to find out if I am a secretor/nonsecretor so I can refine my diet even more.

I do have one question--does anyone know if hempseed and hemp oil are beneficial or avoid for Type O?

Thanks very much,
I am looking forward to sharing with y'all on this forum.

nanbibler yeah, isn't it wonderful? I had a similar experience, turned really ugly, long-standing health situation around in 6 weeks, and felt results in less than 2 days after starting (cold turkey.) You're gonna love this site and the great people on it, and you won't believe how much you can learn here! Browse all over the site, but my favorite button is "recent threads" :)
Enjoy, OSuzanna
oh, by the way, welcome!

Hi Nan!

Great story of your BTD-journey!! I have printed it and will use it to illustrate to my O-patients!! Your journey can make them gear towards the BTD as well!!

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Nan, I'm a Nan too, from Wisconsin. Glad to hear you are having such great results! :) I too got rid of joint pain (even my bunions shrunk) ;D! I've been "on the diet" for 3 years, and really do not miss the avoids. I recently ate some ice cream while on vacation, and my face broke out as a result. My body sure knows when I eat something it doesn't like!

Welcome, and remember to check out the bloggers. There are a bunch of O's on there with common sense ideas for living the "good life"! :)

Thanks to all of you for your kind and welcoming responses....they are greatly appreciated! And thanks also for the info on hemp.

There are a few more things I forgot to mention in my post:
1.  chronic sinusitis is gone--poof!
2.   this one is hard to explain, but here goes--i feel as though my spiritual life has opened up in a whole new way since i started this diet. Does that sound odd? I feel so close to God that at times it is almost hard to contain, kind of like I am going to burst. Does anyone out there know what I mean?
I think the way I would explain it is that since my body is 'in tune' and I am not putting anything in it that causes 'interference' I feel like an open pipeline and so close to God. My morning spiritual time of prayer and meditation has taken off like a rocket!!!
Can anyone else out there relate?

Thanks again, so much, for all your kind words and welcome.
I can't wait to get my secretor/nonsecretor results!!!!
All my best,
Nan in Vancouver WA

Nan,
It's hard sometimes to be spiritually perceptive when our bodies are clogged up and bogged down!  :-)  It takes all we've got just to keep the physical form up and moving.  When the body is free to clean out and heal, we begin to be aware of a lightness of form and spirit as well!

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experiences with us.

Welcome, Nan!!!

Most of us didn't know if we were secretors or nons when we first started, so don't feel like that is a detriment to getting going.  In fact, I started back with the original book, ER4YT, and none of us, short of those few people who were Dr. D.'s patients, had been tested, so I followed the basic ER4YT diet for several years without knowing and had very impressive/remarkable results.  That said, knowing your secretor status does provide what, especially for us nonnies, is a key level of customization and refinement to the diet, so I'm glad you have been tested.

Anyway, interesting that you had already eliminated wheat from your diet and yet still had such a pronounced improvement once you started the blood type diet (BTD).  Just shows ta go ya that, even though us O's talk about wheat, wheat, wheat (and corn, corn, corn) all the time until we are blue in the face, really there is so much more to the BTD than eliminating just the Billboard Top Ten Avoids, so to speak.  It is following the diet as a whole that really yeilds results in the realm of spectacular.  That is not to say we have to be perfect (thank goodness, as I for one am incapable of perfection, what with being human and all), but it is good to remember that across the board compliance is important to strive for.

Again, welcome, and I'm glad you are experiencing such thrilling results thus far!  It only gets better as you go along.

What's wrong with spirulina?

Spirulina can be contaminated with fungal micotoxins which cause allergic reactions in some people.

I can 8).

Also, I react much better to people. I am capable of showing more love and consideration and I can control myself better.

Best wishes. I look forward to reading of more improvements.
