hi all!

I wasn't really sure where to write this, but I think here it fits best, even though it isn't really a disease.

The problem is: lately my hairline has been receding quite quickly, and it is quite obvious I am on the road to baldness. The thing is: I'm only 25 and I feel I am too young for this!! Unfortunately it runs in my family, with my brother, who is 30 ,being almost completely bald. Also, my mother's father was a baldy man.

So, is it inevitable that I will go bald one day due to my genes or can I do anything to at least slow it down a bit?

Anything B-specific I can do here?

thanks a lot  :)

Try biotin...like 5mg a day with 3mg of folic
acid...60mg of zinc daily with some copper.
biotin 5mg /day with a high potency B complex 2-3 capsules/day as well
a result of thyroid hormone problems.
You might want to read this:
http://thyroid.about.com/cs/symptomsproblems/a/hairloss.htm
Diabetes control and longevity would better be served by using a daily supplement of zinc ... from 15-25mg each day + about 1/10th of that in copper + & 200mg of taurine (usually found in meat).

Dr D:
-help ur hair growth “from the outside”, try a hair potion out of oil of rosemary, glycerine and oil of bergamot.

To eight ounces of distilled water, add 15 drops oil of bergamot, 1 tblsp glycerine and 10 drops oil of rosemary. Apply  this to the scalp before bed, accompanied with vigorous scalp massage in the direction from
forehead to the back of the head.

thank you lola. i'll just have a try, maybe your advice works.

And if not, then I will go with mikeo's advice most definitely. My brother doesn't shave his head, but he has light blond hair so it doesnt matter that much. I have brown hair and I think it would look kinda stupid if I didnt shave it.  :-/ Actually I always thought men with shaved heads look kinda cool and it's also popular with the ladies from what I've heard  ;)  8) And all the smileys on this forum are shaved too and the look really cute.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

But what I think looks extremely stupid is if bald man comb their remaining hair over their bald head to make the impression that they are not bald. Do you know what I mean? That looks so darn stupid!

Embrace your baldness.
Think of it as an advanced evolutionary mutation allowing the brain to be solar powered.
Well, that's what gets me through the day :-)

Well, in many cases, men with a lot of testosterone tend to lose their hair.  That's why women like bald men!  :-)

I think it's perfectly okay for many men to lose their hair. It's a man thing, after all! It's just terrible what some of our cultures do to guys, trying to sell them stuff to reverse or delay the inevitable! They look just fine without it. (Example: does Dr. Phil look like he needs any sympathy? He was bald before 30.)
The following is a smiley suitable for comb-overs>>>  :X
I think lots of men and women need some time, often years, to make peace with the changes the years bring. Each decade brings us a new face in the mirror. It's just "you" evolving, embrace the changes.
And wear hats when it's cold! ;D
vandelam 's got it right  :D

I agree.
Most men with long hair they have an attitude which always bring in mind the song "you're so vain. don't you ....don't you...."
Thank God not all long hair men remind me that.
Be cool about. Ion

My family, on both sides, were bald by their mid-20s as well, and at 25 it was receding as well...I switched to the Asian Veggie diet - basically seafood several times a week...And I still have hair in my late-30s. and I'm growing it long as well...

I find it humorous - in all the hair treatment ads and their description of the different hair follicles- the very adds themselves basically say that the fatty acidds from land-based meat will cause problems, and the lack of omega-3s from seafood causes the bald spot on top.

Hey goredsox!!!

You got some great advices!!! ;D  Yes I agree with you, the guys that cover up their baldness are so pathetic..  Besides MikeO is bald, and he just looks great!!
Telly Savalas was one of the first baldies I saw on television.. Appealing to most women I dare say... ;D

For one thing, I definitely do not like guys with long hair...  :P

So.. rejoice over your baldness... Beautiful bald is not bad.... ;D

Hey don't forget to use some bodylotion on your head once bald....  ;D

well ladies, your valuable experience is much appreciated here!

So the bottom line is that you think bald men with shaved heads look really hot.  ;D did I get that right?  ;) I cant wait to lose my hair!!  ;) ;D

That guys with long hair are not so popular with women, is valuable advice I have to remember. Thank you ladies for enlightening me on this one.  ;) I wasn't really fully aware of that.

And is it also true that the more intelligent men are the more likely they are getting bald, because their brain consumes so much energy that no energy is left for growing hair?  ;D That would explain why I am going bald  ;)

"God made so many beautiful heads-the rest he covered with hair".

Definitely go with a shave!  My husband was loosing it, he was so not ready to lose it, I finally took a video of the top of his head and all around.  He shaved the next day.  And to be honest, I think it is far more sexy than the hair ever was!  You must make the right decision for you, but the other alternatives are costly both in time and money with no certain results.  Go with "Jean Luke Piquard" Look! 8)

What I have experienced in this last year, is that getting rid of my amalgam fillings not only caused a dramatic drop in bp but also made my hair come back at the sidefronts of my head... My hairdresser confirmed this with astonishment..
Also lack of (relational)stress, combined with the above did the trick I think.

That is my experience anyway in agerelated hairloss..  ;D
And of course I take biotin, Q10, my vitamins and minerals.

Take care

I imagine that there's a survival advantage to male pattern baldness:

In a fight with another male, the enemy doesn't have as much hair to grab onto!

And so, I tend to think that the males losing their hair are the ones who are secreting the most testosterone from combative stress... usually against other males.

And so, hair loss may have a survival advantage in that respect.

..... and what about the money aspect??? No shampoo, no hairconditioner, no hair lotion, no gel, no hairdye  ::)  ::) no waste of time when those guys need 'fixing' their hair.. ;)... My son spent hours in front of the mirror putting into place every hair with gel...  ::) ::)

Guys, you will become millionaires once bald!!! ;D ;D
And the bathroom and pillows will stay free of hair.. ;D

Once you think of it, sooo many advantages to be being bold, I mean bald... ;) ;)

I read all the female comments on this thread and went off and cut all my hair off and polished my head.
While I was waiting for all this "action" to transpire, I caught a cold in the head!
I am now alone in my sick bed feeling very sorry for myself. (as men do)
I will never listen to idle (women's) gossip ever again, if I don't die from this extreme flue.
Shame really, I thought I was onto a good thing.
Can't wait for my hair to grow back now.
I guess good things take time!
I hope it "will" grow back!
Oh you shameless women!
I still love you all though.
Cough, cough.
Gasp, John.

And yes, perhaps you did it too radically... Once you are past middle-age, changes must  be applied gradually... Right???? ;) ;)

I do hope your 'cover' will grow again...

My deepest sympathy for you...

Oh John,
If you ride your big bike with no hair, you may need to wear something under you helmet to keep the heat in.  I'll bet that's what happened, sweetie!  You let the wind blow back your hair, only there was no hair and your head got chilled.
(But I bet you're the coolest dude on two wheels)  :-)  :-)

p.s.  I hope you feel wonderful again very soon!
