If what I read is correct, the bird flu kills its victims by attacking the immune system and ultimately causing the victim to drown in his own juices (lung inflamation).  If this is true, wouldn't nonnies have an advantage since there are no blood type antigens in the body fluid?

Laura, you read my mind!

I don't think any of us have an advantage, especially if we've ever been injected with a vaccine made in chicken egg.   We must be half chicken by now and my other half is part pig from my polio vaccines.  Just thinking about it is giving me GOOSEbumps.

All the information I've read so far on this Bird Flu strain H5N1, is that it wrecks havoc with individuals who have healthy immune systems.  It makes their immune systems go into over drive, and I think attack the body.  Those most at risk as those in the age range 20-40.

I'll have to reread the Vanity Fair article that mentions this, find the text and quote it.

Many alternativists think the bird flu is overhyped. What is the opinion of the BTD community?  I think its good to keep healthy, so we can fight what comes our way.  I think many vaccines are dangerous & don't want the government to mandate taking a BF vaccine.
They are also making a fuss about the mumps cases in Iowa.  Most of us 'oldsters' had the mumps as children & it wasn't harmful.  Now the news media is going bonkers about a small 'epidemic'.  There are more serious things to be concerned about, like national security, pollution, GMO foods, etc.

Truth be told about 'Chicken Pox'....

'Tis the 'vaccine' that is the issue. Even the word is wrong, as the nature of flu works differently. But in the this era of Allopathic medicine we get lead to believe that it is the only way.
