BTD Forums  /  Testimonials  /  French testimonial-first anniversary

Hi everybody,

I am French and writting from France where we have an excellent website and its forum on the BTD.

This is my testimonial. I am O secretor.

In August 2004, thanks to the Dr. D’Adamo’s book, I decided to try this diet, only to see.

It has not been very difficult for me, as I was already used, for the last ten years, to trying successively different types of diets to try to get rid of two main problems : a 20 years old intense fatigue –very disabling- and digestive problems. Finally,  I followed a doctor’s advice and ate according to the Mediterranean food (Cretan diet) which was pleasant and easy for me, since I am living in the south of France near the Mediterranean sea ; but my problems were still not resolved. I understood why afterwards, especially when I remember my breakfasts (orange, milk, bread…)

I am a 51 year-old woman, and I have to say that I did not need to lose weight (1.59 m –5.21 feet- for 47 kilos –103 pounds- before beginning the BTD, so I was really slim).  At that time, I was resigned and with no more hope of finding a solution to my problems ; it was a low period for me. I saw several doctors. They were unable to help me and none of them asked me about what I was eating.

Instead of complaining about my health problems, I prefer now to list all the important changes that happened very rapidly and in a short and longer-term.

. very rapidly, after some days, I got a  real improvement in the digestive problems, then a total regulation of the digestion. Being very fragile for that, I feel very quickly if a food is good for me or not. Some food in the list for the O are not good for me, even if they are beneficials (family of the cabbages….) or neutral (apples, pears…). I have suppressed them. Each one is different and I take it into account.

. 2 months later : the intense fatigue had gone away. I felt alive again. I was not thinking about a link with my diet, except when, by mistake,  I ate again an avoid food, with its consequences… I decided to wait ; time would able me to check.

. 6 months later : rheumatic pains (shoulder, elbow and wrist), settled for years and very disabling (waking me up in the night, needing 2 or 3 hours every morning to stretch my rusted fingers) have gone away.

. 9 months later : I realized that I had no more PMS problems

. I have lost 2 kilos –4.40 pounds- at the right places and  without wanting it. My figure has changed : I have kept the muscle mass and have lost 2 cm  (waist) and 3 cm (hips).

. For the past  ten years, I was focused on the calories ; I was a real pro ! I have now finished with that. I check my weight only once a month (the scale is in the attic now). I am no more craving for sugar.

. The best : I keep my spirits up, even in case of big stress. I feel calm and stable

. 7 months later : I have found on internet the French website and its forum created by Isa and I enjoy it ; everyone (regular members and guests) can find there a lot of very good informations and advices. It is a very friendly site.
Thank you, Isa, for your work and your energy, and thank you to the members.
Thanks to you, I do not feel alone anymore with this diet. Yes, it is not easy to speak about this diet with people who have never heard about it.

Thank you very, very much for all these messages. It is so amazing to have "web-crossed" the ocean and found these nice followers ;D

Sorry for those who can't get connected to the French website ; perhaps a problem with the server. I am investigating with our administrator Isa-la-Belle.

Alix, can you post for us an average daily menu of what you eat for breakfast lunch dinner etc.
You are about my height and weight and I have also had lots of stomach and digestive problems my whole life that I am looking to cure.
Posted by: Alix (Guest), Saturday, October 1, 2005, 9:07pm; Reply: 22
Hi Jamielor,

My breakfasts :

- a cup of chicory
- a toast of essene bread with very little butter (or rice cakes, or small spelt breads, or buckwheat toasts to change)
- home made  jam (I have non treated figs, abricots, raspberries in my garden !) or home made jelly of wine (without alcohol and made from an organic wine from the French Corbières) or honey.
- organic nuts (3)  and almonds (around 12)

The  lunch :

- usually home cooked vegetables :“ratatouille” ( made from onion, tomatoe, zucchini and eggplant) , or sautéed sweet potatoes, or artichoke, or asparagus in season, or red pepper ; sometimes salad of different vegetables (carrot, beet, scarole, romaine, fennel… but more in summer)
To cook them, I use olive oil and a lot of  spices (curcuma, ginger, curry, cinnamon, parsley…)
The "vinaigrette" is made with organic olive oil and cider vinegar
- beef, chicken, guinea-fowl, duck,  fish or egg
- one or two rice cakes
- nuts, almonds (both organic) and a season fruit (at present figs from the garden and grape)

Often an afternoon break with a cup of chicory and a rice or spelt or buckwheat toast with a teaspoon of jam and some almonds.  In that case, I suppress the almonds and nuts at the end of the dinner.

The dinner

- again vegetables like for the lunch
- some organic rice, or spelt or kamut pasta or quinoa cooked in water + spices
- a small leftover of  proteins from the lunch
- nuts, almonds and a fruit or, from time to time -especially in winter- buckwheat pancakes.

Sometimes, I cook special meals and I use my old receipes which I adapt to the BTD. Today, I cooked a “cassoulet”. It is always cooked with pork, and duck confit. I suppressed the pork and it was wonderful, much lighter.
At the moment, I enjoy cooking “tajines”.

I love cheese, of course, but they do not like me, even the goat cheese. What a pity.
I like all the cabbages but they do not like me :'(
I never drink during the meals (I feel bloated!), but water and sometimes pineapple juice (or pink grapefruit or grape juice, always without sugar) in between.
I never buy already cooked meals. The vegetables and the fishes are always fresh, never frozen. I buy the meat direct from a farm. The eggs are organic.
As soon as a food is not good for me, I feel it and I suppress it.

I find all that very satisfying and tasty. ;) I must say that I like cooking. We still have very good local products on our markets.

I hope that it will help you.

Hi Isa-Manuela

You seem to wake up very early ;D oh la la ! not for me(naughty)
But yes, Mediterranean cooking, "BTD gravy", is wonderful and I live in the heart of the Corbières vineyard. Lucky me  8) I do not know the song you are speaking about :'(

As far as the French site is concerned, I do not understand. I have checked all the possibilities given above (direct addresses or via google.fr or co.uk. or com) and it works  ::) I am  still investigating. Perhaps some technical expert can help ??)

Hi Isa,

Ok, you live in Switzerland. I could not guess :D Perhaps will meet one day. :D

I sent an e-mail to a friend of mine living in Florida ; she tried to connect on the different French websites (website and forum) without any problem at all.
On the French forum, we have several members living in Switzerland and writting from there.
So I do not understand why some of you cannot get the connections.
I think that I have investigated everywhere now :o :-/
