The last couple of weeks have proven to me that following the BTD has changed me in ways I didn't even know about.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have had to lower my compliance level drastically. In other words, it was coerced cheating. Carbs galore, including bread! I should have enjoyed every bite.

I hated it. ALL of it. I was miserable the entire time. And that is a complete first for me. Me, the carb junkie, who once answered yes to every single question on the Carb Addict's Diet questionnaire. Me, who used to love bagels and diet Coke for breakfast every morning. Me, who lived for fresh-baked bread and cinnamon rolls. I don't know how to convey the utter power of that change, and the realization of it as well.

This morning I had turkey sausage, steamed broccoli and later, some fresh pineapple and banana for breakfast. It was as if every cell in my body relaxed somehow. *chuckle* I felt like I'd come home after a long time away, and for the first time in weeks, got up from a meal without being bloated and sleepy. Tonight I'm having baked brisket, steamed zucchini and romaine salad with pomegranate 'vinaigrette' dressing. Not a dinner roll in sight! :) And none wanted either, which is the miracle.

Tomorrow I'll send off my saliva test, and in a week or so I'll know my secretor status . . . but I'm back where I belong for good now.

Anyone else experienced anything like this? :)

Congrats! You made it to the other side.

It took me a loooooong time. Actually I do not know if I am there yet! I do look forward to a total conversion. I am happy as i know it is coming soon 8)

Can't wait to hear (ups... read) you secretor status.

I feel this way whenever I eat rabbit: Very, very satisfied.
Lamb is more my norm, due to obvious availability, but Lamb doesn't give me the "feeling" you're talking about.
Sometimes milk/yogurt too does the trick.

What I noticed last night, when I was in that awful position of being very hungry and being where only Really Bad Avoids were available, that the way I felt while, yes, while eating the chicken/blackbean/tomato Mexican burrito was pretty lousy: It was wrapped in a whitewheat flour tortilla, that nauseated me, even though it's one of the few non-avoids on the plate: I "unpeeled" the dang burrito, and just ate the rice and cheese and cilantro that were inside.  A coincidence that you're writing about this experience the next day.

Today, my husband took me to dinner for my B-day.  It turned out to be a surprise party with my family.  The menu was not very A-friendly!  Most everything was fried or blackened.  I order the broiled red snapper.  My side choices were coleslaw with red beans/rice, french fries, or dirty rice.  All red flags.  I was starting to actually get aggrivated and was trying to make a decision.  I didn't know which one to choose....I also didn't want to make a big fuss, my family had went through all the trouble of planning this....soooo, I just decided on NO sides and asked they bring me a small side salad instead.   :)
