To anyone who is interested in why I don't eat chicken anymore,

After I read The Blood Type Diet Book I tried not eating chicken for one year, because according to the book, B+ blood types who have dermititis(psoriasis in my case) should refrain from eating this favorite fowl.  Since I am often my own researcher about these things I didn't really know, FOR SURE, if this was it even though my psoriasis completely disappeared after a few months of no chicken!  I am a very healthy eater and am always trying different things to see if my psoriasis improves.  So, after one year of not eating chicken I thought I would try it again...slowly my diet included more and more chicken until after about another year my psoriasis came back with a vengence!

I am now OFF chicken again, currently for about two months, and my skin is almost clear!  I am excited about this because this time I know its those lectins in the chicken.  Oh, just for the record, I also found out a year ago that I am HIGHLY allergic to egg whites and so refrain from eating eggs as well, not in keeping with the blood type theory, I think.  

At any rate, would love to hear from any of you.

In time, you may find that you can eat eggs.  You don't say for sure your blood type. (You can post an Avatar for everyone to see by going to the member center and selecting Avatar though)  I'm assuming you are a B????  If I remember correctly B's can have eggs but I'm not eggzactly sure! (no pun intended).  But I will tell you that I'm positive that allergy tests are not done with a quality organic egg.  And some things should not be eaten together with an egg.  how I found this out is my type O daughter was also told she was allergic to egg white and egg yolk and whole egg by an allergist.  We took her off them for years until our BTD/homeopathic doctor said to try giving her a good quality, organic, free-range chicken egg but NOT with wheat bread.  It was not the egg that made her tummy grumble and gave her terrible gas....it was the wheat....and/or the combination of the wheat WITH the egg.  She eats eggs all the time now, without any trouble.

But the chicken, for sure is a no-no for B's and I'm so glad you could give it up.  You can have turkey though and it's so much cleaner a product than commercial chickens.  I recently read somewhere that they cannot give hormones to commercial turkeys.  So that's a good thing.  We prefer wild turkeys as they taste so much different than the commercial ones but my husband usually only gets a couple turkeys each year so we do buy some commercially raised ones.

I'm happy for your newfound healing.  Spread the word, although B's are not the majority, I'm sure you'll find some B's out there to tell.  Good luck with your future success with the BTD and welcome to the boards.

Welcome to the forums!

Yes, chicken is one of the big 'avoids' for blood type B's, because it contains problematic lectins in the organ and muscle tissue.  Your decision to eliminate chicken from your meals was a significant contribution to why your psoriasis has been completely steered away.  Glad to hear that your health is improving due to the BTD way of life.

As a blood type A, I have never eaten too much chicken throughout my life.  In the past when I have eaten chicken; I find that it does not settle very well in my stomach as it feels very 'heavy', so I competely stay away from it now.

Thanks to all of you who have replied to my report about not eating chicken anymore.  I am B positive blood type, however, don't know my secretor status yet.  Will order the test and post it when I know.  I'm so happy to get your support as knowledge, suggestions, and caring!

So happy to hear your testimonial about the result of eating no chicken for a year.  Also gratified you do a lot of your own searching for facts.  I am a B secretor and from the moment I learned from Eat Right for Your Type that I enhanced my chances for a stroke from eating chicken I never ate chicken again, not even chicken broth!  For seven years I have not touched chicken and I must say I don't miss it a bit.

I have psoriasis...have had it for 30 years.  Right now it is in a flair.  I am an A ...so I am allowed to eat chicken and eggs.  Do you know if I should also avoid it since I have psoriasis???   Where would I find this info out?

Dear Mim,
There may be technical info. somewhere that will give you answers, but many (most) of us do our own testing on personal theories by setting up a plan and doing it
eg in your case, make a decision to test, (say) chicken meat: eliminate it for (say) a month, and keep a daily log book. At the end of that time(or earlier), you could have a perfectly scientific answer for your specific situation.

As a B too i dont miss chicken at all...i had some a couple weeks ago..and i almost gagged..seriously....I dont know why though!

I do eat turkey often tho, i like the flavor much more and if finding it more on restaurant menus lately!

Funny I don't miss Chicken at all either. I used to eat it because it was supposed to be "healthier"  than red meat (and easily available) but not really from pure pleasure! The only thing I notice now is HOW CHICKEN IS EVERYWHERE!!! I guess it's alright for those 'O's (grumble, grumble). Turkey is not as easy to find (although for Christmas we had a local organic turkey from the local butchers- very nice!).

By the way, what are the symptoms of psoriasis? I know it's a skin condition and can be pretty nasty but don't know actually how you identify it. Would be interested in finding out...

The same here Gavi, I am also allergic to egg whites.  I react to it by having headaches and suffer until it's been flushed out of my system and also noticed that when I eat chicken, my whole body ache and feel like going down with flu.  I figured out that if I am allergic to egg whites, I could also be allergic to chicken, so I eliminated chicken on my menu. After that I felt well and tried to avoid it as much as I can. I guess I am about to find out what is good and what is not good to eat for my type.  And the Dr is right, I should go vegetarian.  I was one before and never had any ache complaints, while I was a vegan.  But since my aunt who used to cook for me passed away I lost my will to stick to it. I have to have that will power to stick for good health, I supposed.  But one thing I can confirm - no more chicken for me too.  Not that I am 'chicken' to eat it, I just don't want to suffer more pains. The pain 'chickens' me out.
Good on you Gavi. Let us stick to 'no chicken anymore'.

I think there is really something wrong with chicken.  I have read from somehwere about this lady who has been eating chicken all the time, until one day she was struck down by a mystery illness. She was paralysed for sometime and could not be diagnosed as to why and how she got this illness.  And then it was tracked down to eating chicken often.  Could it be what have been fed to the chickens or their environment?
The tought 'chicks' you out isn't it?  Does Dr D'Adamo or some scientists, or anybody have any findings about this?

I have a mantra - "If I see it advertised on TV it is not good for me!"

Right on Tyson's website, they proudly proclaim they toss their dead birds in freezers for collection (I am quite sure these birds did not die of old age).  These birds are then processed into chicken feed as well as other things.  The people at Tyson are actually proud of this!!  

I started researching this shortly after buying Tyson cornish hens on sale and noticing the skin of the birds (all 6 birds were affected) had discolorations and the meat had a bitterness to it.  

I also discovered in my research that people with too much time on their hands discovered that chickens pass approximately 28% of their feed undigested.  Some producers were collecting this chicken poop into lagoons - to be later processed into - yup you guessed it - chicken feed.

Haven't we learned anything from mad cow disease?????????

Chickens don't thrive on processed chicken poop and processed diseased dead chicken.  Chickens need to eat right for their type too!!

I'm very fussy about the chicken I buy. Lucky for me I live in Washington state and can get Draper Valley chicken.  I would much rather purchase their free range bird, but lack of a job prohibits that notion right now.

Now, if you are a B - you really need to avoid chicken.  If you aren't and live in the US you need to avoid major brands and most store brands.  

An interesting side note.  The lady that introduced me to ER4YT is a B nonnie.  She's "good to go" now meaning she's healthy, active and doing great.  There were darker days for her.  She craved chicken so bad she would stop by the deli section of the supermarket, buy a roasted chicken... rip the skin off... chew it up and spit it out.

yeah, I noticed something strange about the chicken I was eating too.  It just didn't seem right.  Fortunately, organic eggs are readilly available here, but I still haven't found a good place to get chicken.  I think chicken are very sensitive to the types of foods they eat.  Organic eggs are a lot different than the eggs of chickens fed useless goop.  I have a feeling that chicken meat is the same way, if logic follows.

That's interesting that you noticed a difference in eggs.  The only difference I noticed was the shell is much harder to crack.  I live in Washington State and chickens here sport some sort of claim about what they weren't given due to state law...  I've never thought about it much, but if they have to state what they don't give the chickens... are they bragging or complaining?

Good luck on the chicken.  I hope you do fine some happy birds :)

I did notice a difference in the shells, but the main difference in organic eggs over the cheap eggs is the yolk.  The yolk has a much brighter color, and a much better taste.
