The first Q is:  What part of coffee makes certain people irritable & mean? Is it the caffeine or is there another substance there?  I have noticed this pattern when a person drinks coffee.

Several years ago, this person was very calm for several months & I assumed some happy changes in life contributed to it. But then I heard him/her share with someone how they quit coffee because of headaches. No wonder they were calmer!  Now I sometimes observe over the years when they drink it, they get very nasty.

The other Q is about Irish Coffee. I think it is coffee & whiskey mixed.  I saw this before & recently read again that if you are having a stroke, drink some IC to stop the stroke.  The coffee or booze separately don't work, but the combination does. I want to know the ratios of each & how much to drink. A full cup? A spoonful?

For stroke:

Dose is the equivalent of: seven cups of coffee and two shots of whiskey

If the therapy is approved it would be injected not drunk.

Here's why people can get irritable from coffee.

Irish coffee is coffee mixed with a dash of Irish whiskey and served with cream on top.

Thanks:  This person would be irritable when drinking it regularly as well as rarely. When rarely, the grouchy period would be a day or 2 after drinking it.
But they can drink several cups of tea with no bad effect.
That thing about the heightened awareness makes sense. The person gets angry at the slightest thing that someone else says in innocence or in passing. It is so weird.  With so many coffee drinkers in this country, I am sure there are lots of crazy bosses in the workplace hopped up on coffee that terrorize their employees.  Yet at the same time, the average person seems to need the java to wake up & get going.  I'm sure it is a nutritional deficiency that makes it so hard for many to wake up. It also is cuz folks aren't getting enough sleep!

In lovely, friendly Ireland it is a bit more than a "dash"... ;) 8)
I had it all over/in many different pubs/on 2 seperate trips when in Ireland and it was so tasty. I tried to make it/order it here in USA and it is just not ever the same. :-/
Mind you, I sip on just one and it takes me forever to drink it, but love the coffee/creamy bite of it...again, only in Ireland ;) :)

Irish coffee is good for many things  ;) but health is not one of them...

Old joke:

Irish coffee is a near-perfect food, containing most of the major nutrients. Alcohol, caffeine, fat and sugar. Light a cigarette and you've got it covered  :P

Good laugh for me, too.

Sure, it may not be healthy, but apparently it acts as a drug when needed. I think it would be better than some of the drugs out there. At least any bad effects would wear off the next day & it might prevent/mitigate a stroke!
