I have been taking Deflect O and fucus, both of which contain bladderwrack. I just noticed that bladderwrack is a Swami avoid for me.

What to make of this? Should I continue to take these?

Everything mentioned has a relatively high iodine content. You may wish to consider this. Some people may not do as well on these supplements.

Lloyd, thanks. That sheds some light.

I have had bladderwrack as a diamond, but have been wondering about possible thyroid issues and entered thyroid on my Swami. Consequently, bladderwrack became an avoid.
All thyroid tests (T1, T3, T4) are in the normal range, but I have a lot of symptoms of hypo- and hyperthyroid. I think I am a medical mystery, as Explorers seem to be.

Can I assume that using Deflect O or fucus is contraindicated if Swami has one of the ingredients as an avoid?

Normal for you is not an average of a set of people's numbers. Listen to your body and keep looking for the answers.

to help out your thyroid function I suggest to go for l'tyrosine... I do have the same problems with kelp intake.... :P but l'tyrosine is also a mood stabilizer ;) ;D....

Who recommended the sup for you? If SWAMI recommends a supplement, then it's safe to take it- the supplements have multiple ingredients that work together in harmony, creating healing benefits that often outweigh the negatives of specific ingredients. If the same computer program both recommends a supplement containing bladderwrack, as well as tells you to avoid bladderwrack, then I'd say it's fine to take the supplement. There's something about the combination supplement that's healing for you, even though bladderwrack shouldn't be used by itself as a food or a concentrated supplement. SWAMI has already calculated all of this stuff.

Similarly, if a practitioner ran a SWAMI on you and recommended these supplements, it's probably fine too. If you have any doubts, call the practitioner to clarify.

If the supplement was recommended by a friend or somebody on a website, yet it contains ingredients that are an "avoid" for you on SWAMI, then it may be problematic. Call DPN to clarify. I had a question about pear juice in the proberry, and DPN told me it was fine, even though pear juice is an "avoid" for me all by itself. But the answer may be different if you have a problem with a main ingredient, rather than a minor one.

Most helpful. Thanks.
I take L-tyrosine, as recommended in the fatigue and cognitive function protocols.
Deflect O is in my Swami.
Fucus is recommended in the detox protocol. I think I'll stick with it for now.
