BTD Forums  /  SWAMI Xpress  /  How much GF meat?

Just curious-- I have been buying 95% lean ground beef at WF and not sure how much to get to last  me for the week. I generally grill and put on my salads.

So, I workout about 5/6 days a week and work alot, always on the go.

I feel like I am always buying food, and no time to do this.

If I buy 1 pound, it is gone really fast...

Then again, if I order 2 pounds, am I eating beyond what my body needs?

Any thoughts on a typical week order for ground beef?

I consider one serving of meat or fish to be 1/3 pound.  This works with my SWAMI.

My swami says 4 servings.. of red meat. I think I need to slow down a tiny bit on the meat. More fish:)

Hi Marjory,

Don't forget the bean portions- very easy thing to do  :)
Yup-I'm guilty for forgetting ALL the time!!

They are ideal for quick meals once they are cooked and cooking them does take time but needs no constant supervision of the pot :)

And you can use them exactly where you used the ground beef- should be hopefully easy so for you to incorporate into your existing meal routine.

Or you could combine beans & meat for occasional meals ;)

Thanks ladies. I will try the beans... even though I am not a big fan:)

Good news.. yesterday was my birthday and I am 37 however, many people kept saying I could easily pass for 25-- what is my secret????

Yippee, whatever I am doing is working. Plus, I am feeling better than I did before regarding the meat. I think it will just take time.

I could not afford the probiotic from DR D right now, but I bought another one which seems to help my digestive issues.

Marjorie! Happy birthday! Wow, that compliment surely is the best birthday present, isn't it? Hooray for you! May you look and feel younger and younger every day  :)(sunny)(clap)(woot)(dove)(clap)(woot)(sunny)

It sounds like you are doing everything right. Since you work out so rigorously, it seems that your body is making use of that red meat without any problems. But it would of course be beneficial too to balance it with fish.

Personally I don't like to combine meat with beans (gas problem :P). But if you don't have this issue, beans are a good source of protein and are much cheaper  ;)

Happy Birthday!

I don't have gassy problems with any food combinations. I find that beans aren't enough as the only protien at a meal; it's just not satisfying, no matter how much I eat. But if I combine beans and red meat, poultry, eggs, or fish, then I can be satisfied with a much smaller portion of animal protien. I can even make a meal of beans and cheese, but I'm not entirely sure that would be a good idea for me. All of these combos assume there's also plenty of veggies in the meal.
