Hello everyone.

I have convinced my girlfriend to start the diet. She is type O.

What would you guys start with being a type O if you want to loose weight.

What would be the 3-4 most important changes for weightloss in type O?

Cutting all the bad grains and dairy,

And exercise daily, even if that is a brisk walk for at least half an hour, or dancing at home

Except from the obvious delete once for all of wheat,i suggest to do the same with sugar as sweetener,no matter if it is or isn't an avoid for BTD and since most products on the market contain sugar, tell her to bake and make her own sauces. Also,i find stress in daily life affects us as bad as the worst food,so plan happy moments together.

Just curious, how is she eating now?  Does she have any health issues or complaints?

I remember how I used to take a sandwich to work for lunch, and then I switched to salad greens and roast beef (minimally processed).  And I cut out wheat noodles / pasta and had rice or rice noodles instead (albeit in much smaller serving sizes).  Got rid of the "continental breakfast" and had sausage with veggies or open faced omelets for breakfast.  I did lose weight pretty effortlessly.

Exercise, plenty of good quality sleep and lots of water help all blood types.

This will be a great experience for both of you especially as she discovers foods that might be new to her (bison, lamb, cod and turkey, the latter that both of you can enjoy).  My wife is type A and my daughter is vegan.  We all manage to eat out of the same kitchen.

My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

Thank's for all the help😊

About grains.

Is it best for weightloss to cut them completely out or is it better to only cut out wheat?

I cut grains out completely. If she likes carbs sweet potatoes are very nutritious and loads of different things to do with them.

I agree with the corn as well. It's almost worse for me than other grains. Dairy should be off the list too for weight loss, at least in the beginning.

It is MY opinion that O's who want to lose weight should make meats, poultry, fish and eggs, vegetables and healthy fats such as olive oil, olives, butter/ ghee the very most part of their plate if not all of it.

As asked above, does she have health issues to address?

I tend to blend the BT diet with the whole 30 diet for optimal health and energy. I use their plan with my O foods.

She has a problem with weight, digestion, allergies, eczema.

Then I would definitely try doing the whole 30 autoimmune protocol. It's more of a cleanse with wholesome food. Blend it with BT O foods.

It's mostly quality meats, fish and poultry. All kinds of veggies but not nightshades. ( tomato, potato, peppers of all kinds and eggplant) It allows some fruits and berries are most recommended. It allows healthy fats like butter/ghee, olive oil, coconut oil ( I don't eat that) avocado, olives, nuts and seeds. It does allow sweet potato.
It does NOT allow ANY grains, diary, nightshades, processed foods and sugar.  It's an elimination diet. After theses foods are out of the diet for 30 days you can slowly add some back in one at a time and look for reactions.

What is her diet like now? Is she eating at all like an O?

For me eliminating grains, dairy and sugar made a fast big improvement from the beginning. I lost weight and my digestion got much better. I do need to be careful with fiber still. She may be different. Just because a food might be rated beneficial does not mean she HAS to eat it. Above all she should listen to her body.

Bone broth made from the bones of any combination of Lamb, Turkey, beef, bison can be healing, nutritious and somewhat filling.

Cut down completely wheat, corn and any product that contains them as ingredients, potatoes also, tell her to cook oven sweatpotatoes with salt, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder and a little olive oil, they are yummy like fries!
From my expirience,a non grains diet gives me cravings, the longer such a diet goes the strongest the cravings and in long-term the results I had achieved varnish. She can have rice with veggies, baked goods or muesli,in the right portions and servings,meaning,2-4 times per week and in a  small portion. Her big meal should be meat or fish with veggies.

About her allergies, propably they are caused from the wheat, let her start like this and see.

FOODS THAT ENCOURAGE WEIGHT LOSS

Her diet now is very heavy on wheat dairy  and sugar.  Bread, junkfood. She does love red meat and sweet potatoes so that is already in the diet.  She does eat some vegetables but many of them are night shades. Fruit wise she eats alot of berries and grapes.

Berries and grapes are fine, except for blackberries. She needs to cut way down on grains and sweets, and replace her grains with compliant sources. Wheat and corn are really, really bad for Os.

As soon as she gets rid of corn, wheat and dairy she will feel much better. As a cautionary, she may feel worse for up to two weeks while she's purging the toxins. Don't cave, it ll be like starting over. As far as nightshades, if she has aches and pains she might want to find some new veggies like broccoli or asparagus.

Sweet potatoes are an excellent replacement for grains and even sugar. Just make sure she gets some healthy fats . Just enough to satisfy. She doesn't need to gob it.

Best of luck! Who wouldn't like a plate of red meat and sweet potato!!
So many ways to make sweet potato and still get variety. I love cutting them into chunks and roasting them with garlic, rosemary and olive oil. They keep in the refrigerator for a few days too. Fabulous with an egg on top in the morning as leftovers after sitting next to my lamb chop the night before!
