Hi everyone and a happy new yearšŸ˜Š
I am a A nonnie.

In Lrfyt in the section for grains dr.D says  a nonnies should go yeasy on complex carbs.  He gives a nonnies 5-7 cups of grains per week.

Am i right to understand that this amount is within the limits for a nonnies and grains if they want to loose weight?

Each Nonnie case is different.  When I began LR4YT it was my Rosetta Stone until I could get a SWAMI report run for me. I knew that I could easily exceed the amount of grain indicated.

However, I had underlying hormonal issues making me eat a lot. This is not unusual for  Nonnie who is an Explorer Genotype.

I would say if you are worried about 1 cupful of grain a day, cut the portion in half, and have it at the time of day you absolutely need carbs. Grains are relaxing to have in the evening, in my experience, and help me sleep.

I would also suggest to stick with your Super-Beneficial carbs if you are in doubt.

I cannot tell you how my super-beneficial white rice, and green or yellow peas, have helped heal my gut and my hormones over the past 5 years!!! Once my body did some healing, on the 5th year I lost 60 pounds of fat over 365 days WITHOUT any other excercise except for maybe a mile a day of walking to and from work.   That was truly awesome enough to wait for.

you don't HAVE to eat any grains, or any single food.  Over eating isn't going to help either. Just have sensible sized meals.

5-7  cups of grains per week means about 3/4 to one cup of grains per day. That means 1/2 cup with two meals or 1/4 cup at each meal plus a snack, or 1/4 cup with 2 meals and 1/2 cup with another meal. Compare that to how my (completely out of balance, but typical of American eating) son can eat  6 slices of pizza, or 4 slices of pizza plus 6 garlic knots at a meal, or an entire package of pasta over 2 meals. One cup of grains for the entire day means that you're including grains, but you also need to eat beans, nuts, veggies, fruits, and allowable animal proteins to get full.

A  grain free diet may work well  for an O or a B, but it's less likely to work for an A. Those As who are 100% grain-free typically get plenty of complex carbs from beans and vegetables.

I wasn't saying DONT eat grains, I was simply saying we don't HAVE to if we don't want to. Swami gives me way too much food in general. No need to stuff it all down.  I eat the foods I like in the quantity I'm comfortable with. That's all I was saying....

Im gluten intolerant so rye is out. My hormones and gut were so out of balance at first that i could ony do peas beans and sweet potatoes. I got rid of lots of candida and after a year i finally graduated to my first grain- rice. At the time i could not digest anything else like that but nowadays i do fine on amaranth. It is easy for me to get amaranth flour at the local indian store but harder to find reasonable prices on amaranth seed nearby.
