I am on synthetic thyroxine at the moment and believe that in the future world where this forum no longer exists 😔 that I may wish to transition to NDT and am curious as to how this relates to my blood type.
All pork products are a avoid for me and I believe that NDT comes from the thyroid of pigs.
Does anyone know if this would still be an avoid for me?
I'm very new to the world of all things thyroid but do know that in England our NHS does not advocate/prescribe the use of NDT and that I would have to look at getting this from abroad.
I was just wondering if anyone could shine any lights this way on the pros and cons of different thyroid  medications with regard to blood type while this incredible facility is still in place.
Huge thanks if anyone could comment.

I'm pretty sure the source my wife and I take state that it's from bovine gland.  We get it from our ND -- it's his "proprietary" formula, so I have no link to provide you.  TheGameChanger started a post about this issue a few months ago.  I think you'll find a lot of good advice in that thread.

My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

Thanks square peg,
What is the brand name of your NDT?
Were you and your wife previously on any synthetic thyroxine? And if so how does the NDT compare? If you don't mind me asking.
I've been reading as much as I can about it but would like to hear directly from anyone who is taking it and whether the symptoms totally disappear or not...
...here's hoping anyway...
I shall see if I can find the trail from GameChanger.
Thanks again 🙂

There aren't a whole lot of lectins in the thyroid gland, certainly not in the quantities used medicinally. Even if this does come from pigs, and not cows, I wouldn't worry about it.

The supplements are labeled by "Naturopathic Formulas" and I get them directly from the ND.  Also, a correction....  It;s not the thyroid glandular that's from bovine.   Rather it's the adrenal cortex supplement "Isocortex", which he switched to after Bezwecken changed the "Isocort" product formula.  I take a combined Thyroid/Adrenal supplement while my wife takes separate ones.

Neither of us were diagnosed by an allopathic practicioner -- they look only for a high TSH.  Thus we never were prescribed the synthetic thyroid products favored by the AMA.  Our ND treats us based on T3 & T4 levels, plus precursors and symptoms.
