Has anyone heard of,or used,  the supplement DIM for hormonal balance? A friend is type O, is peri-menoapausal, and has been using it for almost a year. It seems extremely expensive to me and I wonder if it's of any use..she is beginning to wonder if it's worth the 80$!! The one she's taking is by Douglas Labs in the U.S. and contains "125mg dindolymethane".

Female balance health protocol.  Check out blood type O
http://www.dadamo.com/protocols/16.html

Aromastat contains I3C which is similar to DIM. Cheaper and probably better to follow the entire
protocol than to use one supplement that might not work as well if taken alone.

Many thanks Chloe & Lola. It would seem from the links you gave that I3C is a better choice as the body will break it down anyway to DIM. So as well as hormone protocols I might suggest to my friend that taking a supplement with I3C would be more 'food-like' - I have seen it in some 'super-green' supplements.

She's open to dietary advice fortunately - but as she's a friend and not a client sometimes it's more difficult to give nutritional advice that will be implemented! I don't know if other practitioners have the same experience with family & friends

One more thing- what about the brassicca origins of I3C?...For O's surely this may be an issue as cabbage & cauliflower are avoids, for me anyway!

Dr. D included I3C in Aromastat and then suggests this formula to help balance female hormones in blood type O....so in my opinion, the answer would be not to worry about the origins of the brassicca vegetables because there are other balancing ingredients in the formula... This is just one ingredient in one formula that is part of a larger healing protocol. If it were me, I'd take it without question. I just don't think I'd go out and buy a bottle of I3C and take it alone.
