Who here takes spirulina regularly? It's a SWAMI diamond for me.

Are the radioprotective benefits true or just marketing?

I have taken in the past and still have a few tablets in the kitchen, but I advise to read/research more, as some of the green powders can also take/leech essential minerals (such as magnesium, zinc, selenium, chromium) from the body as well as binding with toxic elements like mercury, aluminium.  Some experts think spirulina are also toxic, too costly, and just not necessary. So if you buy make sure it comes from a pure source and don't take too much.  I wonder if wheatgrass, green barley and alfalfa may be safer as green supplement powders as these are land produced. I'd also keep up the land veggies like broccoli, kale, spinach, collards, spring onion(shallot), some organic if your budget allows for the extra boost in minerals - many people don't know they are deficient in minerals or have mineral imbalances until symptoms are disease are advanced.  what do others think?

what? you do not like reading other opinions on the subject?

that is how I learn and decide my personal strategy, most of the time when in doubt

I am a fan of spirulina, and only just recently found that it is very difficult to find organic spirulina grown in Aus or USA. California grows some (on land) but it is not certified - it is marketed as 'bioactive' - whatever that means!

The organic type I have found is grown 'in a remote location in Southern India'...

I don't believe any Spirulina is harvested direct from the oceans any more...

(oh and apparently you can grow it yourself..)

Lifestream is a New Zealand brand that is also available in Australia and they have organic spirulina available as does Good Health another NZ brand.

Great.
Lifestream have both non-organic and cert. organic spirulina now so if you are specificially concerned with the toxins, the cert org one would be a good chose.
Lifestream also have a product I use regularly, Astazan which is Astaxanthin and is produced from a marine algae.  I believe Dr D'Adamo hasn't tested this so it can therefore be treated as neutral.  It is sourced from NZ waters but not cert. organic.  It's a very potent antioxidant and excellent for recovery from exercise.  I started taking it initially to help rid the body of radiation and have been taking it now, on and off for about 7 years.

Thanks Kiwi
Lifestream is the one I was referring to above also...

On radiation concerns specifically for the OP - I remember Dr D on fucus and found this quote:

"Although I think it would cause more harm than good if people started taking potassium iodide without a real reason, bladderwrack (Fucus spp) is probably as good or better anti-radiation agent. It is rich in iodine and potassium and it is is also rich in sodium alginate, which binds strontium in the gut, preventing it from reaching the bones."

In macrobiotics, breakfast usually includes some miso soup with wakame.
This daily dish was touted as radiation protection.
I see, however, that Miso is an "Avoid" for O nonnies.
Since you're using SWAMI, however, you might check your Plan; those for whom Miso is permitted might research what was referred to as this extraordinary synergy.
